That’s exactly what Max Devereux’s former life was-pure crap.

He’s re-invented himself. Now he’s the Premier Danseur and Choreographer at the hottest ballet company in Chicago.

He’s also a premier player. All the dancers know it.
Moving from girl to girl. Bed to bed. No one has ever compelled him to be faithful.
No one has ever felt like home.

His stunning boss and artis

2.5 "Ballet & Secrets" Stars

ARC provided by the author.

Thank you!

Warning #1: Due to the holiday season and the lack of Internet access, I’m keeping my reviews short & sweet. Back to the normal speed next year. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year, guys!

Awkward Victoria is a romance book with a famous trope: bad boy meets good girl, falls in love and stops sleeping around. Unlike a lot of readers, I don't have a problem with this trope. I actually enjoy these stories a lot when well-done, like Elle

This was a hard one for me to get into and stay interested. I was excited to start it because of the ballet subject matter, so I did find those interesting. But as the story was building, even the big reveal unveiled itself early on and wasn't a big surprise at all. Something about the writing was also off for me. It felt stiff and uneasy. I really didn't find myself drawn to either Max or Victoria -- let's put it this way, their chemistry and relationship both felt "awkward" to me. This was a n ...more
Book opens with H turned on and looking at h's mother's wet panties while she is lying on his desk.

After reading the reviews, I had to look at this train wreck. It is absolutely terrible, with plot holes and bizarre behavior and loathsome characters.

I took a look at the author's GR page and it appears she is an adult human being. This book seems to contradict this.

Sexy, unique and wonderful! I loved this book because it was different and refreshing. The story is about two dancers in a dance company. Two people who work so hard they forget to about love. When they least expect it, they find love with one another. There are great characters, settings and an awesome HEA. If you are looking for a refreshing, sexy read, pick this book!

All the dancers know it. His boss and artistic director bets him that he’ll be in love in three months. The prize if he doesn't - a night with her. Max takes the bet eagerly. He thinks it will be an easy win, that is until Victoria Awkward walks in to try out.

Delightful romance

This story had me piourette for joy. I love when I find ballet romances. Some of the puns were a little groan worthy for me but it played into Max's character very well.
Victoria was so quirky I loved it. She was not your typical ballerina and melded perfectly into the company to stand out. The cattiness she faced was realistic and not over the top. I liked how there was drama but it wasn't high school level. I really enjoyed watching her come out of her shell and into her own

A ballet love story that is a good read. Quite a bit of sex but the hero Max is of course ..A his behavior does not just change once he meets the girl he never expected to meet. His past still haunts him and he has left his family behind and re-invented himself. The heroine Victoria is just a likeable and quirky girl you like right away. Nice look at putting a ballet performance together and the work it demands. Likeable characters and good story.

The bet... Awkward! Even with their awkward introduction and secrets Max and Victoria are cute and get their happily ever after.

Light hearted and fun

I enjoyed the book, but I admit that I was a bit bothered by Victoria's age. But it was a good read, with all the elements that make a good romance novel.

Recommends it for: dance contemporary romance
Fantabulously fun read. Which is surprising, since by the end of the first chapter I was thinking, “What the heck! This guy’s a total jerk! I agreed to review this, Why?” But I had promised to review the book. And I believe in sticking with it, and seeing a book through. Luckily in this case, I was rewarded. Without the author showing us what a total smuck Max Devereaux was. We wouldn’t be able to appreciate how much he has to grow to become worthy of winning the prize. As to what that prize is, ...more

In 2016 my first read of the year was Snack by Emme Burton. I loved Snack and it was a book that stayed with me all year. So when I saw AWKwaRd was coming out the beginning of 2017, I decided I had to start 2017 with another Emme Burton book. I have to say AWKwaRd is a really good read but Snack is still my favorite by Emme.

Max “Thanks a Million” Devereux is a player, a man whose only interest, other than his dancing, is his next conquest. He doesn’t do relationships and he’s totally fine with his lifestyle. Victoria is one of the new dancers at the ballet company he works for and the one who caught his eye since walking in to audition.
The book starts when Mariette Gallant, Max’s boss, and him make a bet that he’ll fall in love in 3 months. He accepts thinking of a sure win, but Victoria’s arrival to the company is

3 Stars

This story is set in the world of ballet, choreography, and passion, on and off the stage. The book opens on Max, lead choreographer, and full-time playboy, extraordinaire. He's made a bet with his boss that he will not fall in love within the next three weeks. If he wins, he gets a night of no-holds barred sex.

Enter Ms. Victoria Awkward, newly auditioning ballerina, and now off-limits according his boss. This beauty

Four Great Stars! Mariette bets Max that he will fall in love within the next 3 months. Max doesn't believe in settling down with one girl, he is a player and is very good at his game. Now enter Victoria the new ballerina with the unusual last name. She challenges Max in ways Max has never been challenged before. Will Max be able to stay away from Victoria so he can win his bet? I was engaged from the first chapter and thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the main characters and enjoyed how the ...more

Nice Change of Pace

I enjoyed the ballet setting. I danced when I was young...though not enough into my teens to be affected by a player like Max! But my dance back round made the overall story a very good read. This is a quick romp that has captivating moments between the main characters and a lovely HEA end.
