Boy, does this story give its characters quite a dilemma! I was initially disappointed in Abbie's choice to deceive Nathaniel, and was surprised that she easily dismissed any concern for his family. However as she got to know Nathaniel she started exhibiting more feelings of conflict over her decision and taking his happiness into consideration. I admired Nathaniel's thoughtful insights and determination to use his second chance at life to become a better man. He developed a relationship with Ab ...more
Never Forget, the fifth and final book in the Beacons of Hope series, is another beautifully romantic story by Jody Hedlund. Through their mistakes and mishaps, their bright moments and triumphs, these characters are utterly endearing. Abbie is determined to help her grandfather keep his place as the light keeper and will do anything to make this happen. When a man washes up in a wreck on their shores and can’t remember a thing, though she knows it’s not the right thing to do, she uses the situa ...more

Never Forget by Jody Hedlund is a wonderful historical Christian romance. It is the fifth and final book in the Beacons Of Hope series but can be read as a stand-alone. I really loved it.
There are many themes within the novel including that of new beginnings. Everyone can have a fresh start with God. Our past does not have to dictate our future. We can have a new beginning with God as He cleanses us.
Tied in to the new beginnings theme is that of guilt and forgiveness. However we have previously

There’s so much more to this book than kisses, but my goodness there are some fabulous kisses too! Like… the kind of kisses that make you forget how to breathe. The kind of kisses that make you worry slightly that your toes will be permanently curled by the end of the book (totally worth it though). The kind of kisses that you go back and read again immediately after finishing them…. and then maybe once more (at least) for good measure.

Ok… so … i did say there was more to Never Forget tha
I really enjoyed this newest book by Jody Hedlund in her Beacons of Hope series. This book can be read as a stand alone. I have not read any of the other books in this series and did not have any problems following the story line.

I felt for poor Abbie in her struggle to keep her life from falling apart. In dealing with her Grandfather, she has to keep up a pretense that she never feels fully comfortable with. She's fending off a man who's trying to get her and her grandfather kicked off the isla

I was so glad to read another installment in this series by one of my favorite authors. I was not disappointed. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. As the title of the series suggests, Hope is the constant theme throughout the series.

Abbie Watson will do anything to maintain stability for her senile grandfather. He is currently the light keeper on Rose Island. As his inability to hold this position becomes evident to others, Abbie has to result to subterfuge so that they will not be evicted.

"If any man be in Christ, he is a new creation . . . ", the Bible says.

Wealthy Newport playboy Nathaniel Winthrop, III certainly wants to begin his life all over again, especially after a violent storm sends him overboard the deck of his yacht, only to wash him ashore Rose Island with a nasty concussion and no memory of the man that he used to be. His wife seems to recall that he was a derelict husband, . . . . .wait a minute . . . his wife?

Abbie Watson is so relieved when the gentleman who was

Never Forget is a tremendous book. Reads like this one, I find difficult to review as it was so very good. It had all the elements of a great story. The storyline was tremendous. Not only is it historical fiction, but it has so many other wonderfully written subplots. Love, loss, mystery, suspense, and what I love most about Christian Fiction, a tremendous faith theme!

This fifth book in the serious sort of brings everything full circle and finishes off the series in spectacular fashion.

Such a delight! I love every book in this series and the final book did not disappoint. I especially loved the spiritual theme spread throughout the story. This story was very romantic and concluded the series well.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the Beacons of Hope series. The fifth and final book was no less captivating. I have probably stated it before, but I will repeat that I love lighthouses and reading stories about them, even when the stories are fiction. This book kept my interest from the first page to the last as Abbie Watson desperately clings to every shred of hope to keep the Lighthouse Board from taking the light keeper position at Rose Island Lighthouse away from her Gramps. She has been doing th ...more

Every time I crack open the pages of one of Jody's books I am left in awe. Her books consistently posses quality story and the characters reach out and grab my heart and emotions.

Abbie and Nathaniel's story will take you on the emotional ride of a lifetime. There were so many possible outcomes that I was furiously reading the last few chapters to see what happened. No matter the ending, the message of the story shines brightly and is unavoidable; In Christ, we CAN become new. His love and forgi

Never Forget is the fifth and final installment in the Beacons of Hope series and it is absolutely fantastic! This book can be read as a stand alone novel if you haven’t read any other books in the series. But if you have read book four in the series, Forever Safe, you will recognize Nathaniel Winthrop III and be happy to see him receive his own story.

There were many things I loved about this book. The author did a great job of making me feel compassion for the main character, Abbie. Even though

I think it is fair to say that I'm having a lighthouse phase. I timed my reading Never Forget on the heels of watching The Light Between Oceans, and it amplified my reading experience moving from one creatively immersive to another. Jody Hedlund captures the unblemished landscape and solitary lifestyle of lighthouse islands covetable finesse that rivals the images that play across a movie screen.

Thematically a story of second chances, Nev

Never Forget is the fifth installment from Beacons of Hope series. Oh my goodness! This book is wonderful. If a reader wants to talk about a book that will make you swoon, then this is a book for them. The chemistry between Abbie and Nathaniel is undeniable. I felt a connection to them from the start. There are many twists and turns I definitely did not see them coming. I just could not put the book down. A great reminder why I love Jody Hedlund's writing so much.
I would highly highly recommend

I have thoroughly enjoyed each of the books in the Beacons of Hope series about keepers of lighthouses in the early years of our country. These men, and women, have lived strong, fearless lives on the brink of disaster as they maintain the lights that keep those on the seas safe. True, these are works of fiction, but they are based on true encounters, events, and personages.

In Never Forget the storm lashed yacht of wealthy Nathaniel Winthrop is in a perilous situation and Nathaniel is washed ove

Never Forget by Jody Hedlund is book number five in the Beacons of Hope series. This is the best piece of historical fiction yet by Jody Hedlund! This story captivated me from the very beginning. I felt as though I was enduring all that life dealt right along with Abbie Watson. My heart ached so for Abbie and her Gramps and what they had endured. Just when you thought you had the story figured out something unexpected would happen and change the course of the story. I am so looking forward to re ...more

Abbie Watson is the caretaker for both her Grandpa who’s losing his memory & the lighthouse she loves. One day she finds an injured man—Nathaniel—washed up on shore and tends to his care. Grandpa thinks him her dead husband and she’s reluctant to correct him. The stranger has lost his memory due to a head injury and also thinks himself to be her husband. How long can she keep up the charade? Will she lose everything dear to her heart by her deception or will God work it all out in the end?

While I haven’t read all of the previous novels in the series, I eagerly picked up Jody Hedlund’s Never Forget. The premise intrigued me and I quickly became immersed in the story and invested in how things would turn out.

Abbie is a complex character who I initially had trouble understanding. Her love for her grandfather is obvious, as is her dedication to doing what she has to in order to keep him on the island, the environment in which he is most comfortable. But why doesn’t she just tell the

*happy sigh* Oh what a gloriously wonderful book this was! To be honest, it's been a long while since I devoured a book as quickly as I did this one. I read the first quarter one morning and then the next I finished it in practically one sitting. I was so wrapped up in Abbie and Nathaniel's lives that I couldn't bear to leave.
I didn't have a high opinion of Nathaniel after the previous book but he redeemed himself and more in this one. At the start, he'd actually gotten worse than when we last s

The last in the Beacons of Hope series is no disappointment! Jody Hedlund researches her setting and topic to the point that I could imagine myself on Rose Island. A stand alone novel, I highly recommend that you read all the books in this series.

Never Forget is so touching, filled with faith, and the passion between Nathaniel and Abbie is breathtaking! I loved both of these characters. Their struggles are palpable. Abbie's Gramps struggles with senility and fear of losing his position at the R

A wonderful conclusion to the Beacons of Hope series. I have enjoyed learning about the lighthouse keepers and what they had to go through to keep the lanterns going. I especially learning about how often times it was the women that did the job even though they were not thought to be "able" to do it.
Abbie has been doing her best to be able to continue living on Rose Island and keeping the light so that her grandfather can stay on the island as well. She has even gotten married so that her husb

Abbie Wilson has to be one of the most self-sacrificial characters I've ever encountered in fiction. She is fiercely devoted to her grandfather's care, willing to do just about anything to keep him emotionally, mentally, and physically safe.

Nathaniel Winthrop III is caught in a cycle of bad choices and reckless living. I wanted to hold up a mirror for him or bop him in the head to knock some sense into him. Considering her desperate circums

Wowzer! I was not ready for the sizzling kisses that Jody wrote into this book. I was reading this in bed and I had to turn on the fan several times because of the heat from the kissing scenes. That wasn't the only thing this book was rich in, it was rich in setting, and true to life characters dealing with real situations. Jody weaves spiritual truth without being preachy, and she shows how making bad choices with God's redemption can turn your life around.

Abbie Watson has her hands full keeping the Rose Island lighthouse running, as well as caring for her elderly grandfather. Although Gramps is spry, his dementia means that most days he doesn't recognize Abbie and thinks he's living a few decades in the past. Abbie is doing everything she can to hold their tremulous lives together, knowing any day they could lose their status as light keepers and be kicked off the island.

When an unknown man washes ashore after a storm, Abbie has no intention of t

I like how each of the books in this series took a minor character from the book before and turned them into one of the leads of the current story. This story was about Nathaniel Winthrop, Victoria's former fiance from the previous book. I had liked Nathaniel, though I found him a little 'milquetoast' in "Forever Safe", which is why his opening scene in this book surprised me. He'd apparently decided to 'live for himself' between the end of that book and the start of this one.
That said, I liked

A resounding conclusion to the Beacon of Hope series. I love the way the author honoured female lighthouse keepers in these books. Such an unusual angle for a historical romance. And there's something so alluring about life in the old lighthouses!

Abbie and Nathaniel's story is fraught with sorrow and complications that seem insurmountable. Just when I felt a glimmer of hope it would be dashed as sure as the waves against Rose Island's rocky shoreline. And, oh my goodness, but Hedlund kept me on
While this story took me a little longer to get into, it ended up grabbing my attention and kept me up reading late tonight. Never Forget, the final book in the Beacons of Hope series, had me wondering what would become of these two! Abbie, while tenderhearted and hardworking, has entrenched herself with her lies. And Nathaniel has made several bad choices and is feeling the consequences. There are so many lessons wrapped up in this one; obviously honesty and living a godly life, but woven in ar ...more
