Firstly, thank you Edward Glover for sending me this copy as a Goodreads Giveaway.

This is a big story, or should that be stories? We follow the Von Deppes and the Whitfield's entwined family histories in the run up to, then the outbreak of the First World War.

A good and interesting read, with lots of story threads weaving together a picture of loyalty, love and courage.
