I lied my way into a band, humiliated them on stage, and got my heart broken by the bassist. Now…we’re on tour together.

Of course my dad, who I haven’t seen since he kicked me out, makes a surprise visit the day before we leave. Spoiler alert: It doesn’t go well. I have to quit the band and go to college or he’s cutting me out of his life for good.

This tour is the best opp

I don’t know what to do about this review.
No matter where I try to start and where I want to finish, it all feels way too personal. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve never been through any of these situations described in the book, but I can relate to most of them at some level, I can understand the struggle, the frustration, just as much as I can have all that fun and as much as I can, off course, fall in love with these guys here over and over again.

Did I just tell you how fun they are?
Oh, I could

You can read more of my reviews on my blog.

This is a tough book to review, not only because it could be painful to read, but also because of the depth and darkness that hides behind the usual contemporary fare. On the surface, this book does seem a tad like a cutesy road trip book, and while I was expecting it to be realistic, the way Amplified was, I wasn't prepared for how dark this book would be. I was rattled and shaken by a lot of the stuff that happened, and it was almost like a trainwreck

I didn't read the first installment to this series. In fact, I haven't even looked to see which characters it was about. I didn't need to. This one pretty much read like a standalone and I wonder if reading the first one would have made a difference in my opinion. Probably not. Because I found that I was completely engaged the entire time. However, I have ONE pet peeve that I need to get off my chest. See that cover? The one with the guy playing the guitar? It's deceiving. Good. I was hoping there'd be a sequel. I was SURE there'd be a sequel. The first book ended on a question mark. For me, anyway. Besides as soon as I saw the cover for amplified I thought, "How cool would it be if this were a series and the covers were all kind of the same but with different colours?" Maybe that's stupid, but... I'm hoping this one'll be purple. Or red.

Thanks to Entangled and Netgalley for a copy of the eARC in exchange for a fair review.

Whew where do I start, I opened this expecting one hell of a romance, and well I got that and so much more. Most romances are heavy on the romance and short on the storyline. This was heavy on the story and short on the romance, but I didn't mind it one bit. I will say that I was/had planned to finish reading and post the review yesterday, however, something bad happened and that didn't happen. So I am sorry t

I'm already a Tara Kelly fan-girl because of Harmonic Feedback ("touch of Aspergers" sound technician YA book-- pretty much should be required reading for any YA fan or person who works with youth I think).

So I went into Encore, the sequel to Amplified's story of a girl from a privileged, vanilla, straight background chucking her safety net to follow her dream of joining a band in Santa Cruz, California, already in love with Jasmine and the band.

Little did I know that Kelly not only had all the

I had been anticipating this sequel for a while now and it did not disappoint. I read it in one sitting, and I've been in a reading slump for a while now, so that's saying something. I really love how realistic Tara Kelly has been throughout this whole Amplified series. It's one of the things I appreciated the most in the first book, and it stays true here. Every problem and every situation is treated with the amount of seriousness it deserves. Nothing is glossed over, nothing is resolved in two ...more

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of Encore by Tara Kelly courtesy of Entangled Publishing and the author! You guys are amazing <3

I embrace "diversity" in a book and Encore is the perfect representation of why books continue to surprise me in the most pleasant ways. I've never read the first book of the series but that did not stop me from getting to know the characters on an emotional level. I love the line up because they are so diverse and unique, their personality shines through thei

This is a rock romance that takes a band on the road for their very first time and it is wrought with so many things that it will keep you enthralled from the beginning until the very end. Ms. Kelly sure isn’t afraid to touch on a lot of social issues from mental health issues, to stalking, to cyber bulling and hate crimes. Yep, this book has everything packed into it and still gives you a great look inside what is like for a group of musicians who want nothing more to get signed and start the c ...more

I can not wait! Now I just have to wait for my mail from Heather or Anjana.:D
I'm glad Tara Kelly wrote this sequel and in some ways it gave us the closing Amplified lacked.
But I have to say Jasmine is still as spoiled and frustrating as in the first book. She's still too immature and that is clear.

I liked the change in the story with the band on tour and the more serious topics it approached, but the story left some to be achieved, undortunately.
(Nat) Reading Romances

Encore was the first time I read anything by author. I didn’t know it was the second book in the series, but it can be read as a standalone.

I was excited with the premise, I thought it fresh, and it had a great start but there was a lot going on, too much for only one book. I liked that the author chose to approach the struggle young bands go through in a real way. The main twist was very predictable, it was so repetitive that started to bother me. Even though all of the band members are ov

Let me start with this is the second book in the Amplified series. I did not read book one so I believe I left myself a little short changed at times not really knowing these characters. I read this so I review it based on what I read. I went in with an open mind not knowing anything about the first book. I wish I had.

This is a young band starting out. The opening is the girl getting ready for her father’s visit. There were so many things going on. There was a rollercoaster of emotions,

For me this was one of those times where the first book is really good, and you get really excited about book 2..... but at the end, book 2 was NOT what you where hoping for.

The main problem I have with the book: the plot (or plots), there was a LOT happening, and not in the good way. It was just to much for just one book.
I felt like everything was happening so fast, and it was one thing after another! I wanted.... needed a break.

Getting more positive:
I loved how the romance and friendship wa

This book was a roller coaster of emotions. Though it's of the YA/NA genre, it resonated deeply with me since the issues experienced by each character could affect or happen to anyone.

Jasmine and her bandmates experience so much on their short tour, but the book doesn't feel rushed, nor does it seem contrived. It touches and tugs on your heart long after you're done reading. I haven't read any other story in this series, but I'd definitely like to.

I definitely recommend this book.

I wanted to like this book a lot more than I did. From the blurb it had all of the elements I was looking for in a book, it just didn't come together for me. I love books in the music scene, and I was excited about the going on tour aspect on the book, I also liked how the blurb alluded to the girl having a thing for one of her bandmates.

Ultimately, I wasn't in love with any of the characters in the book. First of all the main character, our heroine, Jasmine, is young, I think for the entirety o

A book that bravely voiced out social issues with a staggering amount of realness to it. It was surprisingly gritty that would leave its readers not only thinking of societal injustice that once in our lives we saw or even experienced ourselves, but also would spur us into action, to do something about it.

(Spoilers ahead)

Some other books have tried to do the same (and fell short) but this one felt the most stirring and the most effective. The author didn't just tell about these social injustice

I really enjoyed the first book in this Amplified series and I couldn't wait to start this, but this was really disappointing. What mostly bothered me in this was all the problems happening so quick and the band doing terrible. We're on the first stage and it was perfection everyone was great, everyone was happy. Then we get onto the second stage and it all went downhill!

It felt a little overdone? We kept coming back to the same problems over and over again: online hate, messing up on stage, an
