The contents of Issue 41 of the Idler have been co-edited with the gentlemen from QI. They are every bit as nice as you'd expect, but beware! This is no cosy bedside quiz book. It is a bold manifesto based on the belief that your brain is the most complex and remarkable object in the universe, which is why you won't be able to resist looking inside...
Dan Kieran is Deputy Editor of The Idler, a bi-yearly British magazine. He is a writer, editor, and CEO and co-founder of the crowd-funding publishing platform Unbound.
A lot of the stuff in this edition wouldn't get published anywhere else. That's both a positive and a negative: some of it really is execrable. Skips those bits though and it's not so bad on the whole. (The synopsis shown for this is utterly wrong - I think that's for the "lie Back And Protest" issue.)
I haven't read any other issues of The Idler, but I have to agree with the title of this one, it really is quite interesting. Lots of different topics are touched on, in various ways. There is enough info for each section to be interesting, but not enough to become boring. If you like the TV show QI, you will enjoy this book.
