"This is Ryder. My rival. My supporter. My crush."
I NEED more of this sweet rivalry! This novel was fraught with sexual tension. The banter between Ryder and Harper was outstanding and I couldn't get enough!
"A princess may not need to be saved, but she sure as shit needs to take a ride on that unicorn she's found every once in a while."
This takes place over a few days and I'm hoping and praying that this is just the prequal for these two and that there will be more to come. I feel like we need to know what happens with the business deal is closed. I need to see them *cough* work together more!

Sometimes the best things come in small packages. Sometimes there is a pesky itch that can only be only be scratched with a steamy quickie. Something fast but still fabulous. A super sexy session in the sheets that is short but oh-so-satisfying. Or a short story that you can quickly devour like a delicious and decadent dessert. Sweet Rivalry is that dessert with whipped cream, sprinkles, and, of course, a cherry.
K. Bromberg has held onto my book heart for three years, three years of steamy, soul-stirring stories that spellbind me from beginning to end. K. Bromberg’s latest story, Sweet Rivalry, may be short but it packs a penetrating and powerful punch! Sweet Rivalry is a steamy and stirring second-chance romance that burns in all the right places! This story was INSTA-LOVE!!!
I inhaled Sweet Rivalry in one sitting. The smoldering and spirited Sweet Rivalry quickly became MY ADDICTION…MY ACHE. Sweet Rivalry CONSUMED ME, the words were CHARGED as they SPARKED TO LIFE. The magnetism of the tantalizing and thrilling words drew me to them like a moth to a flame, fueling me. My body burned for this book, a fire flickering with desire. Every word ignited every part of me. I WAS IN UTTER LOVE!!!
Ryder with his dirty blond hair, beard, chiseled and tall frame, along with ink is a walking wet dream….my dream man too. Oh is Ryder ALL MAN! An alpha in the boardroom and in the bedroom, but one that likes a good competition.
The construction company owner is shocked to see his college rival and crush, Harper Denton.
This is my turf now so if she wants to play, she’s going to have to step into the ring first. My ring. My rules. Not hers…Let’s see if she wants to play with the gloves on or off.
Always in the lead from debates to graduating first in their class, Harper has always had the edge, edging out his ego to the sidelines. Imagine Ryder’s shock when one of the competitors bidding on a new project is Harper, now grown up with perfect blonde hair, gorgeous looks, curves, and confidence.

I LOVED HARPER as much as Ryder! She plays in a typical man’s world of construction like she is the queen of the construction site, and oh did I love her confidence, class, and cut-throat attitude! I wanted to high-five her because hello Wonder Woman!
Ryder can’t help but rile Harper up but Harper is ready to eat what Ryder throws at her like a hungry wolf, and dish it right it back in spades.
“I’m glad to see I still bring out the best in you.”
“You’re wondering if your best is enough this time around? The answer is no.”
Harper, the spit fire, is THE BEST!!! Their chemistry on the job coupled with history is too hard to ignore, with the banter only fueling those flames between them. Their connection was INTENSE and INCREDIBLE!

I felt the mad passion permeate through the pages, pounding them…pounding me. The heat set me on FIRE, flaming my desire.
Beard burn is a real thing.
I burned for beard burn. All I could do was picture beard burn in my head while reading and HOLY HOT!!! I may ask my man to grow out his scruff into something a bit more because BEARD BURN.
Harper and Ryder have to be careful not to mix business with pleasure, especially when there is a huge contract on the line. There will be one winning bidder in this game, but possibly two losers if this game gets personal with hearts on the line.
Passionate, powerful, and sinfully sexy, Sweet Rivalry is PURE PLEASURE! Sweet Rivalry was one decadent delight! I LOVED Sweet Rivalry, a sweet and spicy romance. This office romance is full of fireworks, banter that burns with angst and heat. This book BURNED ME IN THE BEST WAY!

RYDER!!!!!! I have been itching for this novella since Kristy mentioned it last year.
We met Ryder in Sweet Cheeks and it's been like waiting on pins and needles for this book. And Kristy definitely gives us what we want - Ryder hot and sexy!!
Sweet Rivalry is part of the 1,001 Dark Nights series. Each book in the series is from a different author and any of their two characters that doesn't really require any knowledge of them in their other books.
Kristy does a phenomenal job of explaining this rivalry, how it started, where they are now and how they plan on working things out. It's hot, sexy and full of sexual tension. You can feel the mixed emotions between them as you read the book.
This book is fast paced and packed full of enticing and sometimes even steamy, hot moments.
A highly recommended read!!!

4.5 'Beard Burn' Stars!

Of course after reading Sweet Cheeks, who was not curious about Saylor’s hot brother? I was definitely excited when K. Bromberg announced she was writing a novella about Ryder and, obviously, she did not disappoint! I literally devoured this in one sitting!
Sweet Rivalry is a spin-off short story of Bromberg’s standalone Sweet Cheeks and it tells the story of Ryder Rodgers and his college “enemy” Harper Denton. These two had some pretty intense moments in college (including an earth shattering kiss!) and now, thirteen years later, they meet again (both are competing to win a major construction project) and evidently, the sparks between them are still very much alive.
Shut him out. It’s just Ryder.
And therein lies the problem. It is just Ryder.
I really enjoyed this story! It’s always great to find a short, light and sexy read by one of your favorite authors, am I right? We have an interesting and entertaining plot, two outstanding main characters and enough chemistry to burn buildings down! Ryder clicks with every single thing Harper wants in a man (he is hot AF, bearded and tattooed!). Harper is sassy, determined and strong minded and Ryder loves it! So, as you can imagine, it’s very difficult for both of them to stop their attraction for each other.
I want him and can’t have him. Sleeping with the enemy is not an option this time around, but the memory of his kiss way back then is enough to make me want more.
Beard burn is a real thing.
And oh my God it is everything I wanted it to be and then some.
I loved the plot, the characters and the out-of-this-world sex scenes! I loved Ryder’s trust in Harper, how he fights for what is right and I always love having strong heroines. K. Bromberg is great at delivering fantastic characters! Maybe the aspect that made me rate Sweet Rivalry with 4.5 stars is that the ending felt a bit sudden to me and I expected an epilogue to complete it better. Besides that, I loved this love story so much!
The sweet rivalry between us just became a whole lot sweeter.
Therefore, my rating for Sweet Rivalry is 4.5 STARS because it was an absolutely fantastic experience to read how Ryder fell in love with Harper. I loved having two strong minded characters that cannot stop themselves from the intense connection towards each other! I totally recommend this book, especially if you read Sweet Cheeks and you are curious to know more about this bearded hottie (and how he finds love) or if you want to read something light but still awesome!

A multitude of qualifying companies in the building industry will compete against one another for the winning bid. Ryder plans to own that conference room until he see's a blast from the past. Harper Denton was his biggest rival back in college. She was always first in their class & the only one who could beat him, and bruise his ego. Seeing her again is making him relive his grad school fantasies about taking the shy girl in the classroom. He is determined to be on top & can't let her distract him.
Harper Denton recently moved from New York to Los Angeles. She has a no-nonsense reputation as a shark in the male-dominated world of construction management. She's strong, confident & in control. Men often think she's the underdog as a woman, but she proves them wrong for underestimating her. Harper is totally thrown off when she comes face to face with Ryder Rodgers. In college he was the bane of her existence. She always felt judged by him & he knew just how to make her lose her temper. Being around him messed with her emotions, but she always loved going head to head with him.
-How can one mistake of a kiss years ago still make me feel this way? Because it was one helluva kiss. That's why.

As much as he loves a sexy, confident, intelligent woman, he keeps having to remind himself she's the competition. He hates he can't read her & that she's the unknown in this bidding war. He enjoys their banter, but wishes he didn't want her so desperately. The girl he remembered is now all woman & stunning. The sexual attraction is too intense & eventually all restraint goes out the window and they give in to their desire for one another. Sleeping with the enemy becomes almost more urgent & important than the job when they realize they can't resist each other any longer.

It's virtually impossible for me to turn down an installment of 1001 Dark Nights. I gobble them up like candy. Then to find one by the incomparable K. Bromberg... it was a must-read no-brainer!!

After reading K. Bromberg’s Sweet Cheeks, I was more than ready to hear more about Ryder, the brother of the heroine. When I heard there was a novella coming, I couldn’t wait to read it—and it was anything but disappointing. Ryder is a classic hero with chiseled features, a hot beard, and black-rimmed glasses. All of that is great, but what I totally loved was his heart of gold. That’s what made this novella a winner for me.
In college, Harper and Ryder were always in opposition. They pushed each other to excel, trying to outdo one another to come out on top, complete with verbal sparring in class and debates. After their last debate, they share a searing kiss and then go their separate ways. They live on opposite coasts but work in the same industry. Thirteen years later, they finally (and unexpectedly) get to pick up where they left off.
I love that this is an office romance with tons of sexual tension and unresolved feelings. The pressure of work makes an excellent balance to the ‘reward sex’ that both Harper and Ryder deserve. Thirteen years is a long time to have repressed feelings for someone, and that results in some killer chemistry and even better sexy times. Harper doesn’t need saving by a man, and she’s always in control, so seeing her give up some of that armor was awesome.
I am hoping that this is just a prequel to a longer story. The ending of the novella is a bit abrupt, and I really want to see what happens after Harper and Ryder finish with their work project. I guess that’s the nature of novellas, though, right?

Thirteen years is a long time to have repressed feelings for someone, and that results in some killer chemistry and even better sexy times. Harper doesn’t need saving by a man, and she’s always in control, so seeing her give up some of that armor was awesome.
I am hoping that this is just a prequel to a longer story. The ending of the novella is a bit abrupt, and I really want to see what happens after Harper and Ryder finish with their work project. I guess that’s the nature of novellas, though, right?

This novella is a short sexy little nugget of yum! It combines two of my favorite tropes: Frienemies to lovers and second chance romance.
Here’s the breakdown: Harper was the shy awkward type in college. She excelled in school and gave Ryder a run for his money in the academic department. Ryder was always her secret crush, but little did she know – he felt the same about her. Can a missed opportunity in college be corrected once these two connect many years later?
What I loved: Both of the main characters are exceptionally plotted. Ryder is gorgeous, down to earth, sexy, and an all around good guy. Harper is strong, professional, sexually aware, and adventurous. I’m a sucker for strong women and good guys and these more than fit the bill. They burn the pages up. What I loved most about Harper is her tenacity. She’s the lone female surrounded by a sea of strong men; however she never lets it outwardly affect her. She's strong, tenacious, and a go-getter. What I loved most about Ryder was his character. He cares so deeply for the future he can envision with Harper that he almost sabotages his own success to prevent her being treated unfairly. Total crush after that scene! Plus did I mention he's bearded and tatted?! HOT!!

The writing – The novel is compact, but won’t leave you feeling as though you missed anything. It’s very well done. I’m in awe of how much K. was able to pack in.
Closure – I love that Ryder got his own story. He played a significant role in Sweet Cheeks so its nice to see him get a happy ending!
Overall. I really enjoyed this book. 1001 Dark Nights is really becoming a go to for me! I highly recommend this sexy this novella to anyone who enjoys the genre.

K. Bromberg has penned a lively and very sexy novella filled with playful repartee, a vivacious heroine and a dreamy, tatted hero! Sweet Rivalery is a spin-off of “Sweet Cheeks”, the hero, Ryder Rodgers being Saylor’s older brother.
Since their college days, the heroes of this story, Ryder and Harper, have been rivals and challengers. In theory, they do rivalry well but there is a fine line between love and hate. Harper Denton has always been a thorn in Ryder’s ego, she is resilient, driven, ambitious, not to mention that she has a sharp-tongue and a red-hot temper. Ryder is a shrewd strategist, in control and charismatic but with Harper he loses his edge.
Harper and Ryder are once again in competition with one another, to win a corporate tender. Losing is not an option, but their rivalry is based on mutual respect and they both intend to play fair.
Despite the short format of this story, the characters were well developed. The focus of this novella is on their relationship. They have history and some baggage. But despite their incredible chemistry, things are complicated, there is a lot of push and pull and the sexual tension between them is at its highest point. Their competitiveness is laced with distracting lust and they both revel in their battle of wits.
I really enjoyed this short story, told in dual POV, and OMG, this novella was hot. The plot in itself is rather limited, but it is flawlessly written. One thing is for sure, I will definitely read anything K. Bromberg comes up with next!

In a few tags first : undeniable chemistry, healthy and spicy rivalry, strong capable woman and sexy as sin hero.
Now, some meat about the story (pun intended as it was hawt!).
This is a short novella written by K Bromberg in the 1001 Dark Nights series.
Harper and Ryder were rivals at college. Being utterly competitive and sharp as a knife Harper dominated Ryder, she was always on top … Sorry, sorry many innuendos here but the book is filled with them to my great pleasure.
So they exchanged a very hot kiss thirteen years ago and Haper left Ryder immediately. No, no he was not a bad kisser she just had her whole new life planned in another state.
Thirteen years late Harper is back in California to enter a secret bid in the construction world.
Waiting in the security line she’s ogling a fin @ss in a suit dreaming about sex reward once she’ll win the bid. See, Harper is a shark. A woman in a man’s world but she’s eating unsuspecting suits for breakfast and spit their ties when she’s won. She’s just the best.
I adored her determination, her confidence and competitive mind. She knows what she wants and goes right to the jugular. You have to admire a woman walking like a queen when wearing a security helmet on a construction site while wearing a pencil skirt and pink high heels!
Of course said sexy suit she’s admiring turns to be none other than her former rival: Ryder.
They’ll both compete again and sparks will fly! Who will take control?
I loved the chemistry it nearly made me combust on the spot and Ryder was perfect for the role of sexy and smart business man: bearded, wearing glasses, sporting tattoos and a tone body under his crisp suit.
The story was rather short but their oral sparing (I speak about their banter, take your mind out of the gutter!) was really well done and funny. K. Bromberg gave us enough details to know Harper and Ryder so we could enjoy the ride.
So if you like it short (the story I mean), hot and playful I would recommend this novella in a heartbeat.
Sorry I’m playing naughty girl today!!! All that foreplay in the office just contaminated my innocent mind :-)

A sweet bearded romance that was an absolute gem of a read!!!! K. Bromberg has turned up the heat as she will set hearts fluttering in her latest release, Sweet Rivalry. .Who wouldn’t love a story that has tons of heat, chemistry, passion, and sexual tension? And did I mention a smoking hot bearded hero to top it off?
Ryder Rogers and Harper Denton have always been rivals since their graduate days of college. Smart and sexy and delicious! I devoured this one. LOVE Ryder!!!!
This is my second 1001 Dark nights novella and I really like this concept. Many of my favorite authors have written a novella in this format and so far, I have enjoyed the stories. Although 'Sweet Rivalry' is a standalone, Ryder first appeared in 'Sweet Cheeks' as Saylor's brother. This novella is a steamy, sweet and fast-paced romance that you can devour in one sitting. This short story is perfect for fans of Kristy Bromberg's steamy yet witty writing style.
Ryder and his competitor Harper are bidding on a major construction project. They first met up during their college days and she has always been the best at everything. But Ryder is determined to win this time. Of course, they have some major chemistry, but business is business, right?

I always love the strong heroines in Kristy Bromberg's books. That is one of my favorites things about her writing. No wallflowers here! If you are looking for a fast, sexy, witty read with a guaranteed happy ending, then 'Sweet Rivalry' is just the ticket. My one complaint? That this story wasn't longer! Maybe we will get a full-length book about these two someday!

Sweet Rivalry was the fifty fourth book in the 1001 Dark Nights and was written by K Bromberg. It was an enemies to lovers theme.
Harper and Ryder were classmates in their graduate program and were constantly battling with each other on opposite sides of an issue. There was always a fierce competition with an underlying sexual tension between the two. Fast forward thirteen years and they meet again as competitors for a multi-million dollar construction project. Bromberg walked us through the three day bid process with the sizzling banter between the two as the foundation and focus.
In the end, Sweet Rivalry was a sweet, fun and sexy quick read. As a novella, it got straight to the point as expected but was also well written. I enjoyed both Harper and Ryder and since it was more of a HFN ending, this could easily be a prequel to their full story....hint hint.

Sweet Rivalry is a spin-off of Sweet Cheeks, featuring Ryder, brother of the female main character Saylor. Although there’s this connection this story was created as a standalone.
Sweet Rivalry is Ryder and Harpers’ short, fun and super sexy story. I love a good enemies to lovers tale, and this is what K. Bromberg gave in this book.
This is Ryder.
My rival.
My supporter.
My crush.
Harper and Ryder have a competitive past amongst themselves. All throughout their MBA and until the very end of it, they were each others biggest adversary (and deep down supporter), but simultaneously bringing up to light their very best.
Now, thirteen years after they are once again on opposing teams on a bidding war, but in more ways than one both are very different from those college years…
“A princess may not need to be saved, but she sure as shit needs to take a ride on that unicorn she’s found every once in a while. He’ll remind her she needs to live instead of staying locked up tight in that tower of hers.”
Despite that, some things never change, and their first instinct when coming face to face with each other is pushing the other until one of them comes on top. But now, more than ever, and given their off the charts sexual attraction, being on top was never more appealling!!!
Whoever said dreams were better flat out lied. Because Ryder is mouthwateringly fine. Breathtakingly sexy.
Since the moment I saw Ryder, I tried to hold true to my mantra—bid first, then reward sex––but I don’t think I ever once believed myself.
OMG, their undeniable physical attraction coupled with their non-stop sexy banter created some smoking HOT moments. It was sexual tension so thick you could cut it with a knife, and they absolutely rejoiced in that…
It’s heaven.
And hell.
It’s want mixed with need.
And I can’t warring against more please.
It’s reawakened desire versus self-preservation.
Sweet Rivalry really was a delicious fast little read, that showed once again K. Bromberg incredible writing talent, and amazing theme research (working on the area I was pleasantly surprised with the accuracy of some elements). The only points that ended up lacking, in my opinion, were the fact that I felt no true emotional feeling by either of them, but only lust, and that is something I always crave in my romance stories, no matter its length. Fact that was enhanced by the lack of an epilogue or something along those lines that would allow us to look a bit further into their future, and realize there was much more to them than unmeasurable chemistry, something deeper. That being said it, Sweet Rivalry was still an fantastic and enjoyable little treat with kickass and well developed characters. K. Bromberg’s amazing writing in a fun sized package! <3 <3 <3 <3

Harper Denton. She was always on top. In college. First in their class. Always using every advantage to edge him out to win the coveted positions. The only one who could beat him. His academic rival. More like a constant thorn in his side. And his ego’s.
When he heard her voice, he was brought back to years before. To the bitter taste of being second best. But the woman who meets his gaze is nothing like the drab wallflower he used to know. Hell no. She was all woman now: curves, confidence, and staggering sex appeal. And no doubt, still brilliant.
The fact that she’s gorgeous and bright won’t distract him. This time, Ryder’s determined to be the one on top. But not if Harper can help it.
MY THOUGHTS:
Well this was one sexy novella. It may be short, but it is a well written and fast paced. Sweet Rivalry is a frenemy to lovers/second chance romance, so the steamy chemistry and tension is woven throughout the story.
I thoroughly enjoyed the buildup and plot of college rivals that were in competition to be the best. Ryder always pushed Harper’s buttons, which in turn pushed her hard to achieve being number one in their class. However, Ryder and Harper both had secret crushes on each other and the last day of graduation, Ryder kissed Harper. It was a kiss that they both vividly remembered 13 years later and both of them have often thought about “that kiss”. The story then fast forwards to present day and a construction bid, that both Harper and Ryder are going to be bidding on. The catch here is they haven’t seen each other in 13 years. Hmmm, this is where it gets good!
There is so much going on in this short story that it held my attention throughout. There is great banter, a lot of push and pull between the characters and great tension. My only complaint is that it was too short. I wanted more.
If you love a frenemy to lovers/second chance romance that can give you a quick fix, then this is an excellent choice.

MY THOUGHTS:
Well this was one sexy novella. It may be short, but it is a well written and fast paced. Sweet Rivalry is a frenemy to lovers/second chance romance, so the steamy chemistry and tension is woven throughout the story.
I thoroughly enjoyed the buildup and plot of college rivals that were in competition to be the best. Ryder always pushed Harper’s buttons, which in turn pushed her hard to achieve being number one in their class. However, Ryder and Harper both had secret crushes on each other and the last day of graduation, Ryder kissed Harper. It was a kiss that they both vividly remembered 13 years later and both of them have often thought about “that kiss”. The story then fast forwards to present day and a construction bid, that both Harper and Ryder are going to be bidding on. The catch here is they haven’t seen each other in 13 years. Hmmm, this is where it gets good!
There is so much going on in this short story that it held my attention throughout. There is great banter, a lot of push and pull between the characters and great tension. My only complaint is that it was too short. I wanted more.
If you love a frenemy to lovers/second chance romance that can give you a quick fix, then this is an excellent choice.

When she meets with Ryder years after their last rivalry, they also have to fight their attraction. But can they ignore such sizzling chemistry?
This novella had everything! Romance, love, lust and two characters that push and pull each other to their breaking point. Read it!

SWEET RIVALRY was a novella in the office setting. I love office romances, they're a favourite sweet spot. This book hit lots of the sweet spots because it was a second chances, office romance. Win win.
Ryder and Harper are old university adversaries who had an illicit kiss and then don't see one another for thirteen years. Ryder returns to Harper's life looking almost unrecognisable in a boy-to-man way.
"And when in the hell did preppy-boy Ryder Rodgers transform into that mythical guy who hits every single one of my buttons?"
The chemistry between these two is palpable and the eventual heat lives up to the earlier suggestion. The back story of bidding for a project is solid with complications that give this novella some depth.
I could definitely have handled more from these two and I almost wish it was a full novel. K Bromberg should definitely consider office romance for a future write.

When you're a fan of K.Bromberg, you will read anything and everything she delivers so long as you'll get your fix on her....
That's the right description of me right now. I have been a fan of this author ever since and that to say, I've been looking forward to read Sweet Rivalry. This novella glued me the moment I started reading it, that and the fact that I've been so curious about the trending "beard burn". I'm mean, who's not right? We all know it's possible...we all know there's this thing called "beard burn", but what I wanted to know was, how it's being portrayed in the story. How it come up? A That being said, I was turning the pages like a woman on a mission, intent to find out the pleasure that is "beard burn"....
And boy...oh boy...I was given more than what I was intent on looking. K. Bromberg gave me more than what I look forward to.Sure it was a short story..a novella for that matter, but it was so condensed as if I was reading a long book, not missing a thing. Everything is just perfectly delivered. GAHD! The characters..I was so invested on them, much more because this a second romance-ish and enemies to lovers-ish trope, just my kind of thing. Their interaction was straightforward coated wit just the right amount of heat. It sizzles and it burns. The chemistry was on point, the sexual tension so thick, passionate and powerful, it was swoony and hot and dirty-ish. Office sex? Yes count me in! And K did so well delivering it. Hot and bothersome were the right words added up so damn sweet and sexy ending on top of good moral, perfectly written and I was all in.
Overall, this novella proves how excellent K.Bromberg is, as a writer. Sweet Rivalry was short but satisfying. Covering all aspects while delivering and portraying it excellently, engaging the readers with pure enjoyment.Seriously, it was addicting!

SWEET RIVALRY is an adorable little enemies-to-lovers / 2nd-chance lovestory!
Two people who knew each other in college 13 years ago. Both kind of had a crush on the other, but they were also bitter enemies - both wanted to be the best in class.
But there was this one kiss on their last day, and both never really forgot about that, even though life took them to different sides of the country.
And now they're back together again - to bid on the same job! Same scenario again - just like 13 years ago. Still the same fighting and arguing and flirting and hating and loving!
But now they're both experienced grown-ups. They should be able to make a go of it this time around, right???

We have lots of adorable, funny, sexy, sparky and Hot-Bearded-Suit-Guy moments! And I even cried a few tears in the prologue!!! Great little romance!
Was there something that I didn't like...it was just too short. I expected more. I wanted to see Ryder's sister and brother-in-law. I wanted an epilogue. I wanted more, or faster sexy times. I really enjoyed reading it, but I just expected more. Which I know is stupid - you should never expect too much...And especially since I knew it was going to be a short story. But I still wanted more. ☺

4.5 "Enemy-to-Lover" Stars!!!
What's it about? Two College rivals meet 13 years later trying to out-bid each other for a major business contract.
The best bits: This was exactly what I needed. This was exactly what I wanted in a rivalry romance... it was sexy, smart, funny and well paced. It starts off as a NA love story and then shoots forward to a time when each character has really come in to their own. I absolutely loved the prologue, which explained Harper and Ryder's history from College... it was so good that I wish it had been a book all on it's own. I was hooked before Chapter One even began.
The worst bits: I couldn't decide why Ryder loved her. Was it because she was shy and vulnerable, or an ambitious ballbuster? Or both? He never could quite make up his mind which version he preferred?
Recommended for: anyone and everyone who likes a bit of animosity in their romance.

This started off good, but then I find it so incredibly dumb and unbelievable that Harper, who is getting back in the game at her job after being wrongly accused of using sex to win a contact, would have sex with Ryder in the office where they're working.
She tells him how much that one accusation will follow her career, yet she allows herself to be bent over the potential client's desk AND ends up in such an orgasmic haze that she leaves her panties behind. SERIOUSLY?!?!
There's so many instances where Harper is praised for her intellect, determination and drive (which she certainly has) and then she's rendered an idiot by a bearded and tatted hot guy in a suit.
Dear author, why are you doing this to your heroine? She couldn't keep it together long enough to take him back to her hotel room?
The premise of this book had so much promise.

K. Bromberg brings us another wonderful read with Sweet Rivalry. Harper and Ryder always seemed to be competing in college with Harper ending up on top. College is over and 13 years later they meet again, this time bidding against each other. Who will end up on top this time?
Harper is a strong woman who doesn't let anything get in her way of reaching her goals. Ryder is her nemesis once again but there is more to it than just winning the bid. Harper had a major Crush on Ryder in college and unbeknownst to her, Ryder was attracted to her too.
I loved this book. K. Bromberg has a witty way of telling a story from both points of view that made me wish the story would never end. I highly recommend this book.

I knew it! I just knew it! K. Bromberg never disappoints with her incredibly sexy romances, and SWEET RIVALRY....oh boy...smokin' HOT, fast paced, and deliciously SEXY! This second-chance, enemies-to-lovers romance was just what the doctor ordered. I needed this story so bad, and once I started, there was NO WAY IN HELL I was putting this baby down!

Squeeze!!! The best things do come in small packages. I am really loving all these short stories from the 1001 Dark Nights. I was so excited to see a story from K. Bromberg and once again she nailed it. I love this ridiculously cute, sexy, second-chance romance.
Ryder and Harper were classmates and fierce rivals in college. They are both smart, driven and always try to best each other in everything. On their last competitive debate Harper bests Ryder but she is pissed at Ryder for the way he “mocked” her during the debate. So, what’s a man to do when a woman is fuming at him? He kisses her senseless … Harper is confused and breathless afterward. But she does not stick around long enough to find out what is brewing between them. Harper moves to NY, Ryder to LA. Fast forward a decade later, Harper finds her way to LA on a work assignment. Turns out she is bidding for a contract that Ryder is also competing for. Once again the two are facing off for a contract that will really advance their respective careers. The stakes are high – they both need to focus but there are too many distractions. Harper Denton has always been a winner when it comes to business but now she's in trouble because she's in a fight not just for a lucrative business contract but her biggest nemesis is her old college rival Ryder. Ryder always played second choice to Harper's career when they were in college together but not any more and this sweet rivalry has just moved from the boardroom to the bedroom. The only thing wrong with this book is that it wasn't long enough, loved the characters and the chemistry between them, loved the story line and loved the hot steamy sex. This is a short, enjoyable, hot read.

Sweet Rivalry brought joyful tears to my eyes. WHY? Well, because it was so much better than the last Dark Nights novella. Like by a land-freaking-slide. Oh lordy, that book - man. Okay, so in this one, you will get Ryder and Harper.
I loved these two together - probably because of all the bantering and shit. I had no idea that this was a prequel to anything.. but now I'm down to dive into that series just so I can get more of these two. The sexual tension was so good and obvious that it made me ship them even more.
Overall, where the fuck is the next book?
