The Flip: Turn Your World Around!

Rate this book
Revolution. Does that word frighten or excite you? If it scares you, it might be best if you stop reading now. If it excites or intrigues you, keep reading because the news is good. A revolution of the heart, an uprising of the soul, an upheaval of the status quo is underway--and nothing is going to stop it. Before today this rebellion against the materialist mindset has gone on in the margins--a few progressive visionaries here, a handful of social activists there. But now that millions of global citizens have actively begun choosing renewal over destruction, understanding over resentment, and hope over fear, the tide is unstoppable. With The Flip Rosen and Rippe herald the arrival of this worldwide transformation and act as guides, gurus--even cheerleaders--for those who want to join the wave. An enthusiastic users' manual to the revolution, The Flip features visionary wisdom from luminaries in the fields of science, government, business, entertainment, and politics--pioneers who have already made the flip and are paving the way for others to follow. Chatty, witty, and accessible no matter where you open the book, Rosen and Rippe offer simple yet practical "Flip Tips" for making body, spirit, and environment-sustaining changes in every aspect of your lives, from work, relationships and home life, to entertainment, food, transportation and healthcare. The Flip will show you how to transform your life. If we work together, The Flip will save us all.

It was mostly uninspiring. It is marketed as a book aimed at the teen population, but I think it doesn't consistently meet the expectations of the audience. It is meant as a cross between practical philosophical self-help and inspirational reading. It promotes the idea of letting go of the fear based decisions, the self-protectionist attitude, and plugging into the interconnectedness of community, nature, responsible/kind living, and the world of ideas as a path to healthier and happier living. The message is strong and well laid out for being a collection of essays from contributing authors, so the editior did tremendous job. However, I found it short of inspirational and dated for 2009 in some ways. I will have to give it a second read later, it is possible I just wasn't "in the mood" for a book like Flip... or perhaps it was just preaching to the choir... either way it just wasn't suited for this audience.

This book is phenomenal... not only does it describe what most humans face as the "upside down world" but it gives us ideas and opportunities to flip it right side up! Very insightful and uplifting... there is so much each of us can do to make the world a better place and it only takes one little flip at a time!!!

I was fortunate to get a preview copy of this manuscript and I'd be happy to loan it to anyone who would like to read it!
