Kallen, Stuart A. Trashing Our Planet: Examining our Global Garbage Glut, 91 pages. NON-FICTION. Twenty-First Century Books (Lerner), 2017. $35.

Kallen packs a whole lot of really effective information into only 91 pages. He looks at the United States and waste, of course, but also examines the world’s contribution and solutions. This would be an excellent text for use in a class about modern problems or for a unit on man’s effect on nature.

Very good overview on how we literally trashed the planet and possible solutions to it. But really, if each of us doesn’t rethink the way we treat plastic, food and just staff, things will just get worse. So, one step at a time, we can create a better future for our children by changing our attitudes towards consumption and throwing things away.

This is a book of startling and depressing information. I’m glad I read it, and I feel more motivated than I did before, but I do wish it included more ways to take action.

By 2050 there will be MORE PLASTIC IN THE OCEAN THAN FISH.

Ugh.

A short but sobering look at all the trash humans are making and using to pollute the planet. We can do better and must or future generations will have more trouble surviving and that includes generations of other species besides human. Nicely photographed. Great for youth.

A skin-crawling book about the various forms of garbage and how current disposal practices are negatively affecting our environment.

Comprehensive, thought-provoking, revelatory and hopeful. A definite must-read.

I like the book and I recommend reading it because it teaches you about global disasters but it was boring so I wouldn't read it again.
