"Whether it means talking my way past teenage rebels guarding a jungle checkpoint or asking hard questions in corporate boardrooms, my goals are to get the story and to tell it better than anyone.

I've been a journalist since 1993, and my work has taken me from the anarchy of wartime Sarajevo to the ritzy offices of the Antwerp Diamond District. I've reported from Bosnia, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Italy and Belgium. All along the way, I've met fascinating people in exceptional circumstances. Through me, readers have come to know them as well.

My specialty is narrative nonfiction, telling true stories in an observant, fast-paced style. Crisp, clear and often witty, my writing combines the highest standards of journalism with colorful storytelling. "

This is a great book for anyone interested in taking a deeper look in their purpose in life - regardless of their career/industry or stage of life.

I was first introduced to Greg Campbell when he spoke at the University of California, Irvine. His stories and ability to connect with the diverse audience was both inspirational and memorable. I was happy to learn he captured and expanded these lessons in this book.

A few years later when searching for a textbook for a leadership course I was teaching, “The 5-2-1 Principle” popped into my mind. While the book is based on Greg’s extensive experience in business, my undergraduate students relate to the personal stories he shares. It presents one process (1) with two simple, thought-provoking questions (2), and five lenses to explore one’s purpose (5). Self-reflection can feel like heavy-lifting. Greg lightens the load by providing examples from his personal journey together with this simple guide.

I highly recommend “The 5-2-1 Principle” as a guide for self-reflection, leadership development, and personal growth.

Very much in the mold of my own way of thinking and leading, so this sat well with me. But more than that, Campbell added some new ideas, questions, and went deeper toward encouraging me to round out more of the thought process of leadership. Very helpful book. Most notable about this book was how it wasn't filled with regurgitated knowledge from other leadership books. There are some counter-cultural items in here as well which just wouldn't fit inside a normal business leadership book, such as the importance of connecting with people for the sake of the connection, as well as the concept of servant-leadership, which is typical of a more Biblical leadership style. To see how he took those concepts and applied them to the business world and relationships was very interesting and relevant for me.

I read this book because it was written by one of my high school classmates. While it's written more toward the business community, this book offers many insights useful and helpful to all of us.
