Spookshow #7

Cordelia

Rate this book
A soul trapped in Hell, a mysterious woman imprisoned in a cold mansion, and a young woman at a crossroads in her increasingly bizarre life.

Struggling to keep her psychic abilities in check proves tricky for reluctant medium Billie Culpepper when the supernatural continues to disrupt her everyday life. A complication at work sends Billie on a new path that may require more guts and faith than she's prepared to give.

While Detective Mockler prepares to return to work after a forced suspension, he suffers a loss that leaves him reeling and conflicted to the core.

John Gantry, the sly con-man and magus, drops back into Billie's life needing her help for an insane rescue mission. But what he requires of her will push Billie beyond anything that she has encountered in the terrifying paranormal world known as the Spookshow.

Another winner!

Every new book it like a present that I can't wait to open! The characters and positively life like. A set of fine China that some have more chips and cracks than others but fit together perfectly! From the first page to the very last...you are sucked into this world of things you don't believe in...but yet in Tim's world everything is possible! This series is always in my must read first list!

I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed reading this story. Each adventure of Billie's makes me fall more in love with these characters (or reestablish my frustration). I think it has to do with the way the characters a developed while through in the creep and horror that have come to adore so much. There are times where the image or what is going on just grosses me the heck out.

I also enjoy seeing how back story keeps being laid out. I'm still trying to put a couple pieces together.

There isn't a ton more praise for these creepy novels that I've left to give. I thoroughly enjoy the scary journey these books take me on. The uniqueness of the book and character of Cordelia is no different.

John Gantry has me tied up in knots, and Billie and Mockler's relationship may be the only 'cutesy adorable' one that doesn't make me want to puke. I'm not sure how Tim makes them so like likeable, standout, and atypical.

I'm always so eager the next novel to be released, so I can slowly devour the insides.

Another great book

I think Billie's bar should be called Poor Tom's Spirits or The Spookshow Tavern. I couldn't think of anything else . I enjoyed reading this book. I love all the characters, especially Tom.

Very nice to reacquainted with the characters.
Another well described fast paced book. My only grip was that it was over to soon.

These books just keep getting better and better. Spelling is still an issue, but I've stopped caring. Can't wait for #8!

Anyone who follows my reviews is more than familiar with my adoration of all things Tim McGregor, and this series in particular. But seven books in, honestly, this series should be running on fumes by now, right? It's a little long in the tooth, and honestly, how much more can be wrung from a woman who can see and talk to the dead.

Well, if you're Tim McGregor, apparently, a lot. Gantry's story takes centre stage this time around, along with the titular Cordelia, who is utterly fascinating. In fact, if there's any downfall to this installment, it's the explanation of Cordelia's backstory. I'd almost have preferred to have just left her mysterious.

But this one earned all its stars for a very minor subplot that most likely passed over. Ray Mockler's father, Joe. The event that happens in this novel is something that was shockingly close to what I went through three years ago with my mother. My mother and Ray's father were of very similar dispositions. And everything that McGregor ran the younger Mockler through in the course of this subplot is everything—EVERYTHING—that I went through as well.

I literally read several pages of this novel with my mouth hanging open, convinced the author had dug around inside my head, six years before I'd even experienced my own subplot.

Anyway, long story short, sometimes, reading about a fictional character managing an incredibly awkward, rough, socially unacceptable situation that you yourself went through? It can be healing.

And I never expected to get that from the seventh volume of an indie horror series. For that alone, all the stars.

I really love this spookshow series the author definitely writes a great story. I like how he weaves in all these twisty creepy turns into the stories, and I like how he brings ghost stories to life and makes you see into that world. if you like supernatural stories or ghost stories, I think you would really like this series. It’s definitely spooky enough that you wanna keep the lights on and if you’re like me sometimes you don’t want to turn the lights off when you go to bed after reading one of the authors books. I do recommend this series.

Creepy, scary, exciting

I keep saying I don't read these kinds of books, but I here I am finishing book 7! The main characters just keep getting better and better. The mysterious Cordelia was so interesting and Billie is really coming into her own. Fascinating world that author Tim McGregor is inviting us to explore. It's on to Book 8 for me. The cool thing about finding a series a little late is that I can binge read! Yay!

Another gem

I read someone else's review that said this series was becoming trite into its sixth incarnation. Ha! No way! I'm just as eager to read about Billie and her entourage as I was in #1 of the series. On to #8....still would like to see this as a TV series with Tim writing the scripts!

Excellent read

These books are excellent, very spooky and a touch scary. Billie tries to find Gantry's wife Ellie in hell. She goes to a house that's off radar to do a ritual with scary Cordelia. Cordelia is trapped in the house with her two ghost sisters. I really enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read the next book.

All starting to add up

Big ups to Tim McGregor, this series has been so well planned out. I'll admit it I am an author snob, not one to take chances on new authors. But wow! Am I ever glad I took the leap with Tim McGregor. I'll be sad when the series has ended.

❤️ ...review soon...

As promised...

I love words (obviously since I love to read, lol). I love how when put together just right they can make you laugh, fascinate your soul, entice your mind, encourage you, compel you or even break your heart. So many possibilities, it's endless. To take words and put them together just right to form a story that can make you run through your emotions & captivate you, is an art, a beautiful art. To find an author that can do this is a treasure.
One sleepless night I discovered Amazons freebie section on my kindle & decided to give a book called The Spookshow a chance. I was in a reading rut, couldn't stay interested for long in anything I picked up & I needed a book with the words arranged just right. In this haunting book by Tim McGregor I found what I was looking for. Now 7 books later, I'm still hooked, still fascinated & happy beyond words I found this treasure.
I loved this book. Every bit of it. Billie, Mockler, Gantry, Kaitlin & even Poor Tom go through quite an ordeal this time around. There's all the right amount of spooky stuff, ghosts, magic, and demons. A fun part of reading a good book is the things that stick with you after it's over. The characters especially.
Gantry is an arrogant, bullish asshat almost 95% of the time, till that 5% slips through to show you his big heart & the love behind it that drives him.
Half-Boy, aka Poor Tom attached himself to me from day 1 & I'll never let him go.
Billie is a chick I'd love to be friends with. I've enjoyed watching her come into and slowly accept her powers throughout the series. She's funny and serious, laid back, smart & strong. She has embraced her powers even more in this book and I love how she took down that Evelyn bitch, the faith in herself & the strength she had made me proud. I absolutely love the friend she's found in Kaitlin & the friend Kaitlin has found in her.
Billie & Mockler are just perfect. They compliment each other in every way & work through anything they go through together. They have such strong devotion to each other.
I hope to see more of Cordelia, I've been intrigued by her from the start & this book has only fueled a deeper interest in her.
About the bar.......Billie's Spirits.....perhaps ;)

Give this series a try if you haven't, you never know, you might find a treasure too. Enjoy! :)

I wasn't expecting a 7th book. I'm not disappointed this one is great, answers a lot of questions. I love that Billie is getting a bar. As for the bar name my 2 cents, I like "Cordelia's Place". I'm glad we found more out Cordeila she is such a mysterious one. I think we are not quite finished with Ellie yet either. Can't wait for more books in the series. Keep them coming. :)

I really enjoyed the whole series. The first one actually scared me, but the rest were a bit more low key. I wish there were more.

Billie and Mockler continue to grow as a couple. A few hiccups arise. First, she begins to have trouble at work with her boss. Mockler struggles to get back into the grove at his job. Then John Gantry leads them into another mystery. One requiring great faith. I've enjoyed this series and am looking forward to the next novel.
