Love, love, LOVE Annie! Great adventure, a dose of history, and a great role model for young girls. My 15-year-old cousin is Annie - she has an Annie Oakley poster above her bed, and you can bet I'll be gifting this great book to her for Christmas this year!

Misfortune Annie and the Locomotive Reaper is an action and adventure novel set in the wild West for preteens and young adults, written by Janet "The Kid" Fogg and "Gusto" Dave Jackson. Annie had her work cut out for her when she agreed to guide the Reverend Curtis and his deacons through the Indian burial ground. Booby traps were set throughout the deserted structure, and each one promised swift and lethal attention to the unwary. The reverend and hi

This was a nice story that added a slight steampunk view on the Wild West, with a man who has a suit that lets him fly, and Annie slinging guns and lassoing hooligans. It works in a good way The setting is well-described and makes it feel true. The details in the story makes the entire setting picture come into focus. The characters are well fleshed out, and realistic. The dialogue is spot on for the time period (just about 15 years after the American Civil War), and makes you feel like you are ...more

The premise of Misfortune Annie is a lot of fun. Annie is a fiercely independent young woman in the American west of the 1800s who ends up on a mission from the Secret Service. That's just the start of this adventure series, which I hope sees many more books to come. A middle grade reader will relish the non-stop action scenes and adventure, while at the same time they'll learn about life in the American west.

Annie is an endearing character that really captures the reader's heart. She's an excel

Looking for a book with a smart, tough, independent, can-hold-her-own heroine character? Well look no further. Annabelle Fortune is the gal for you. And guess what? She is an amazing sharpshooter and gunslinger, even admired by Wyatt Earp. Now that's quite an endoresment.

The story takes place in the American west in the 1800's and we are introduced to Annie who is helping some churchmen get provisions through to hungry women and children. Unfortunately, it's a total scam and Annie is set up to

Annabelle Fortune, known as Misfortune Annie is one of the fastest gunslingers in the west, despite being 15 years old. When Annie gets tangled up in a guide job gone wrong, she inadvertently stops the mysterious man known as the Locomotive Reaper from robbing and murdering an entire train full of people. Since she is the only person to have ever seen the Locomotive Reaper and tell the tale, the Secret Service asks Annie to sign up and help catch him. Annie is reluctant, but with the promise to ...more

We start the story with Annie helping a Reverend and his churchmen get some donations to some hungry women and children. Unfortunately it is a setup and they were using Annie to help get them closer to rob the 3:10 train to Denver. While trying to stop the robbers, Annie get a glimpse of a winged man. It seems Annie has had a run in with the Locomotive Reaper and lived to tell about it. Of course she is recruited to help fight him in return for some potential information on her father. Sadly, An ...more

This book was entertaining and a little different from what I normally read, but enjoyable all the same.

Annie is a gunslinger, and while I don't know her age, I assume she is rather young (teenager or early 20's at the oldest). Despite that, she is apparently known for having misfortunes on a regular basis, hence the nickname. She is persistent and when shooting at people tries not to kill them, but rather shoot guns out of their hands or just wound them. Sometimes that is to her detriment as th

From Annie and Wontoa’s friendship to Wyatt Earp’s advice and love this was a fun and entertaining story. We see Annie show young girls that they can be anything anyone else can be even if you are a girl.

Annie gives us adventure, fun, and smiles. She starts by thinking she is helping and realizes her misfortune has put her on the wrong side. She does rectify this but in the process gets in the cross hairs of the locomotive reaper. A odd character to say the least in a time of trains and horses f

With edge-of-the-seat adventure, this gunslinger heroine takes on all sorts of dangerous villains and shows the world just what one girl can do.

Annie was hired to lead the minister and his helpers across an Indian graveyard and help them bring desperately needed supplies to women and their children. Or so she thought. Just when she gets the group through the dangerous boobie-traps, the men show their true colors and try to get rid of Annie. But she's not an easy girl to kill. Before she knows it

This is the first book I have read by author Gusto Dave. It is an excellent book for young readers especially for girls. It is set in the Wild West era with Wyatt Earp providing her some advice during her adventure.

Tattoo Rampage is represented for film by Hotchkiss and Associates, the same agency that brokered Secretariat, The Kite Runner, and Joe Hill's Horns from books to the screen.

Not your typical author, “Gusto” Dave Jackson started writing in his constant pursuit to become a renaissance man. Then he fell in love with the art form. Comedy remains as one of his many passions. He writes and performs skit
