What an incredible read! This brave, suspense-filled debut is a real page-turner, and I look forward to reading more from Shona Moyce.
The author approaches a difficult, sensitive subject with diligence and respect, and does it wonderfully. Shona Moyce's writing is fluent and enthralling; funny, moving, and gripping by turns, and is a pleasure to read. Each character comes to life off the page, and each scene plays out with effortless writing. Despite dealing with the perspectives of five charac

I really enjoyed this book! This is the first novel by Shona Moyce and I am totally looking forward to a second one.
The two main characters are sisters and even though they have completely different personalities, I felt it was easy to relate to each one of them. The emotions ran high and I found myself crying along with the characters, sympathising with them and having a chuckle along the way. It was good to see the characters of the sisters develop throughout the book and to witness the strong

Shona Kaye is a writer, a bookworm, and a weirdo. She is the author of Blood's Veil and Immisceo and she hails from the island of St Helena; for anyone who doesn’t know, try Google maps—yes, that’s it: the little dust-speck in the middle of the Atlantic. As much as she loved baking herself in the murderously-hot sun, she has spent most of her life in the UK. She currently lives in Somerset.

“Realisation danced across his face; she saw the hurt in his eyes. And a twisted, darker piece of her almost enjoyed it. The air in the room, stale with blood and sweat, and pure horror, hummed in the aftermath of her words. And finally, Ella knew what had to be done.” 0 likes
“Only two people knew this side of her—herself, and the one who had created it; the one who made her secretly loathe herself, made her feel used and dirty and broken—like tarnished scraps of silver. These night-time reminders made her too aware that like those silver scraps, even if she were somehow melded into something whole, she would be new—never the same as she once was. Never unbroken.” 0 likes
