This book opens in the sandbox, the guys are deployed and they find a couple of the kids that ran errands for them, hurt in the desert. One of them gives information that helps them get rid of a major threat in the region. That earns the brothers and their mother a place in the US.
Vanessa has a job that is stressful and she also has secrets that result in her having nightmares. She is one of the people who help immigrants to acclimate to being in the US. Amrit, his brother, now called Peter and his mother are clients of Vanessa and they want to meet up with Chase again.
Chase has a past that is about to become an issue. He had been forced to become a gang member, but when he turned eighteen ran far and fast. Joining the Navy and never looking back. When he's contacted to meet with Amrit he doesn't hesitate, but he does inadvertently put Vanessa in the line of fire with his past.
Chase's past rapidly catches up with him as he knows he has to do the right thing.
Vanessa is in the middle and Chase likes her a lot. She doesn't understand what's going on but she does know she'd like to know him better.
I love these two together even if the circumstances that brought them together aren't ideal. We see the rest of the team in this one as well and they offer up some relationship advice in their own way.
Fast-paced and action-packed, with just the right amount of heat, this is a book you won't be able to put down.
Chase wishes he could totally bury his past, especially when it catches up to him. Vanessa wants to move ahead with her life and both have a past painful and hopefully will be able to overcome it so they can have a future. In this they also have to rescue Amrit and Peter who managed to get involved in this lovely story and Chase's past. Will they make it, will they all be able to return to a normal life, read the book, it's a lovely story that kept me reading until it was done, thank you Dale Mayer for a great story.
This is Chase and Vanessa's story and it's a great one. This is a story about having to deal with the past eventually, you can't hide from it forever. This couple is made for each other and their story is an excellent addition to the SEALS series. I love these alpha men and the way they soften when it comes to the women in their lives.
I loved Vanessa's spirit, she seemed to pretty much adopt Chase as hers without even thinking about it. She didn't care that sometimes she made him look completely incapable of looking after himself let alone protecting anyone, or that she had made him the butt of jokes among the guys for the future. But that is what makes her special and I think they all realise that early on, and Chase certainly recognises it and returns it. The story itself starts out in a war zone but moves quickly back to the USA, with Chase having his past catch up and put not only himself but Vanessa and the boys at risk. Lots of action, some violence and some sexual content as well as some really sweat moments with the interaction with the kids. Some funny bits as well which I loved, it gave the book a whole mix of emotions. From extremely serious to the funny. The story matter itself is quite serious, both Chase's part and the reasons behind the boys being immigrants, not to be taken lightly despite the light hearted patches. A great addition the this fantastic military series and definitely worth reading. It is possible to read this as a stand alone, but I love reading a series from the beginning and getting to know the characters and their stories throughout, in doing so keeping the continuance.
This book is about the hero who while away on a mission friends brothers. The brothers are sent, hurting, to the hero and his team with a message. The brothers give them information to help capture the bad guys.fast forward a few months and the hero arrives home from another mission and finds himself having company. His past as caught up with him. He has to explain to his team what's going on and why.
Meanwhile he brother's, who are now in the US, aren't dealing with new things very well. Their worker is worried about them and sends out messages to contact the team that's helped the boys. The message comes through to our hero and he contacts the worker, who is our heroine, and their chemistry is very fiery.
Our heroine has her own problems and worries as well. Together the brothers, hero, heroine and team will all band together to become one important group.the hero and heroine will bond as well.
Chase, like most other people, has a few secrets in his past, but his are rather dramatic and are about to resurface is a spectacular fashion. Vanessa is concentrating on moving forward with her life and not looking back as she doesn't want her painful memories from the past to shape her life going forward. But when she is embroiled in Chase's past the become her problems too. They both need to deal with the past in order to have a future - hopefully together.
Wow - this was a very dramatic story which has so much intrigue, drama and danger that it was almost non-stop action once it had started. It was a great tale of how love can come in the most trying of circumstances and that when it is right nothing is going to stop it - as long as they can both survive the situation that they are caught up in. An enjoyable read that was well written and addictive as the action flowed.
I've been a fan of Dale Mayer ever since I read Touched by Death. I really love reading the series "Seals of Honor" and Chase's story is just another great book in the series. When Chase's past resurfaces in the present, Amrit, Peter and Vancessa are put in danger. Amrit and Peter are the two boys his team saved while in the middle east, and Vanessa is the worker at the resettlement center assigned to their case, There's a lot of action as Chase and his teammates work to keep him and the others safe. Once again we see what it means to be on a unit, where teammates will do anything to help a brother. Of course the story is still a romance. The story ends with Vanessa telling everyone that Chase is a "keeper".
Chase has a dark past that very few people know about, even among his SEAL team. He would like to keep it quiet but as well all know secrets don't stay hidden forever and his are about to be make known.
Vanessa hasn't had an easy life either because of that she now helps immigrants find their way to a new and more settled life in California. Vanessa crosses paths with a family that Chase helped when he was in the Middle East and now the family wants to see him, esp. one of the boys he saved.
He meets Vanessa and the boy and they are caught up in his past. He fights to free them for a future with each other and a future for this young boy and his family.
Lots of action and alpha males. Fun, fast, sexy read.
I bought this book in a bundle years ago and am now reading it. Chase's past has come back to haunt him. Back in Chicago he was forced into a gang. Before he got into it deep he disappeared. He joined the Navy when he was barely eighteen. Now the past wants to get rid of him. Vanessa is working with those less fortunate. One such family has connections with Chase and his team. When his past goes after all of them the team races to keep all safe and alive. Chase and Vanessa work together towards that end. Her past has been just as hard as his.
Another great addition to one of my favorite series. 'Chase' is just as bad-ass as the rest of the Seals. He has a past and he mans up about it. I like that. The storyline pulled me in and didn't let go. Vanessa is a great woman. She has been through hell, but she had to overcome the obstacles and thrive. She has a great outlook when it comes to others safety and their well being. A great add to your tbr list. I can't wait to read more.
WOW! Another great story. We get to see both Evan's and Vanessa's pasts come to light. Unfortunately, Evan's past is the one that is deadly. During this mission, Evan and Vanessa fall in love with each other. It's unfortunate that we don't get to see the outcome of the trial but I am happy these two found their happily ever after. FANTASTIC job Dale! I would recommend this book.
This was a good book in the series. So far, book 1 was the best but this one was action packed and did involve the whole team which was great. If you are into military type love stories this is a good series to read. Each book is a stand alone but you get more out of them by reading in order.
This was number ten in the series and it was, just like all the others, fantastic. 😁🎉 The author has created a awesome group of characters in these stories and I have enjoyed all of the stories. Now I can't wait to read the next one! 🌟🌟🌟📖📚👍
Chase had a horrible childhood and teenage years that are back to haunt him. Vanessa helps immigrants get integrated into being in the US. They meet when 2 little boys bring them together due to Chase helping them when they had been beaten before they came to the US. The gang is bound and determined to make sure Chase doesn't testify. The team has their work cut out for them.
Survival and Secrets from their past for Chase and Vanessa, has come back and targeting the ones he care’s for and loves. Chase and Megan both have a tat from their early days doing the best with little choice to choose. Now he has the Seal team to help keep them alive. Thought the characters were not developed enough to have a depth or to draw you in.
This a great story of just when you think your life is on a certain track, the past tries to hand you a curve ball. Chase and Vanessa both had histories they needed to deal with and not let old hardships ruin any future happiness. Together they took care of business and each other.
Disappointing result. I expect better from this author and usually get it. This effort was not up to the expectations. Plot was dull. Characters were pretty standard and action was subdued. OK but nothing special.
I've read the whole series and each one is a fantastic read. As all the books in series Chase and Vanessa's is full of action, suspense and love. Can't wait to read Brett's story
I read this book in a boxed set. Another amazing read. Cannot put this series down. Must read. Amazing characters. Amazing storyline. Loved Vanessa and Chase. Can't wait for the next instalment of Seals of Honor.
Chase is another very entertaining book in this series, with its great characters, suspense, action, and romance. This book was enjoyable and exciting. Great read!
I'm a glutton for punishment. Love the seals but their women swing between brave and brilliant and airheads, which ruined the story for me. Chase's past comes back to haunt him...
I really enjoyed this story, but all Dale Mayer books are great, especially her Seals, she has a nack of writing great books about Service Men especially Seals…..
