Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or you’ve never held a pose in your life, Go Go Yoga for Kids: A Complete Guide to Yoga With Kids offers practical tools for enjoying the ancient art of yoga in the most fun and constructive way possible with the next generation. Children’s yoga instructor and teacher Sara J. Weis has written a comprehensive tome covering everything from breath work and class structure to sun salutations, thematic play and practical exercises. Along the way, Weis discusses the benefits of yoga for the kiddie set and how to make mindfulness accessible at every stage of the game. Pictures and resources add to the book’s appeal, such as Chapter 12 that discusses books and music to enhance children’s connection to yoga. In all, the compilation provides guidance for everyone from the expectant parent to the seasoned educator. Those who care for and work with preschool and elementary-age children would especially benefit from reading the book’s wisdom.
This book encourages you to not only get your kids involved in yoga, but to teach it to them yourself. It provides countless tips on how best to teach yoga to kids of different age groups, and even has multiple lessons plans for those who aren't comfortable coming up with their own right away. These plans are creative, and include variations of common games like heads up seven up and Jenga, as well as new names for basic poses to make them more interesting to kids. It's also got pictures demonstrating some of these poses, of both kids and stick figures doing them, which is my favorite part of this great book, which isn't one that you can just sit still and read completely through - you'll want to get up and do some of the yoga Weis presents! Note: I received this book for free through Goodreads Giveaways.

I have found that Yoga has helped me personally with my balance and stress management. It also has helped my son with his flexibility, focus, balance and relaxing before bedtime. I like to lay his yoga mat on the floor, dim the lights, and go thru his yoga kid flashcards with him before bed.
I found Go Go Yoga Kids book extremely helpful! It has chapters on how to plan a kids yoga class, yoga lessons, breathing, movement exercises, games, music, and challenges-just to name a view. There’s also a chapter about tween and teen yoga.
This book will help me so much with doing Yoga with my two boys and leading my kids group for International Kids Yoga day next year.
There are 12 total chapters, which also include pictures and references. I enjoyed reading the preface and introduction to get to know the author Sara better. She is definitely qualified to write this book and I appreciate all the knowledge and expertise that she shared in her book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review on social media-all opinions are my own.
This book is not just about yoga instructions but a yoga education. You can tell the author is a teacher and very knowledgeable. From fun position names like, Cupid's Bow to the little drawings helping you find your form, I found this book delightful. Kids will enjoy trying these relaxing exercises almost as much as they will saying them. This book would be helpful in a classroom or at home. Highly recommend.
