My reviews can also be seen at:

I don't read a lot of romantic suspense novels, but after reading the description for "Finding Claire" I was immediately intrigued. I thought it sounded like a great story. I wasn't disappointed.

The book starts 2016, in Texas Hill country with a woman who is kidnapped. She is transferred in a van, then locked in a closet. A couple of days later she's able to escape. Unfortunately, she has no idea where she is but w

A woman wakes up alone in the back of a van. She does not remember who she is or how she got there. She is finally able to escape and finds herself at the Cabin of a man named Alex. She tells him she has been kidnapped and her kidnappers are pursuing her. Alex brings her in, gets her medical treatment and calls the police.

Slowly she begins to remember bits and pieces of her past. She begins to be called Rainy by Alex. Since she feels safe with Alex, after receiving medical treatment, sh

The beginning of the book is a little cliche if you read the description but for me it was a great mystery immediately.

From the moment I began reading this book, I couldn't stop. Maybe that sounds cliche, but if I tell you that the book opens with a woman who's been kidnapped and is in the back of the van with no memory of who she is but a picture she has that says "Claire" on it, would that pique your interest?

Pamela Humphrey certainly knows how to write to keep the reader gripped from page one. This mystery lady escapes from her captors, only to stumble across the cabin of Alex, who comes to act as her protect

this was surprisingly good. I enjoyed it. would like to continue with the series possibly.

a couple things that I didn't like: the overly dramatic retelling of her 'traumatic encounter'. also the amnesia inducing 'trauma' seamed to me to be blown out of proportion. I really felt like nothing really happened to her. she really just gets locked in a closet for a day, and then runs thru the dark, into cacti. I feel like her escape was much more traumatic.
then in the beginning, the 'friends' of the

This book is kind of hard to summarize without giving anything away…but I am going to try! Finding Claire finds our main character, Rainy, escaping from her captors. She is injured, cold, and has no idea who she is, when she ends up on Alex’s doorstep in the middle of the night. Alex takes her in, rushes her to the hospital and calls in his best friend, who happens to be a detective. Rainy grows increasingly attached to the man who came to her rescue. As they delve into the mystery that brought ...more

I loved the overall premise of this novel, although I think that the climax/conclusion became rather predictable very early on in the novel. Despite that, this was an entertaining and engaging suspense thriller mixed with romance, love and loss. The subplot of trying to figure out “Claire’s” identity flowed well with the investigation regarding Rainy’s disappearance, and also revealed secrets from this small town’s past and tragic events that had happened many years earlier. What was interesting ...more
The Book Junkie Reads . . .
WOW. Just WOW! I was not expecting that or this. I got myself a gem. I got multiple POV, a hero that was selfless, an mysterious woman that knows not who she is, where she is, and much of anything else. There was back and forth, past and present, there was his, hers and theirs. This was layered with more than you would imagine. There was the underling mystery. Do you want to solve it or do you want to just have some peace.

I don't want to over analyze the read. It was compelling and spellbinding

A complimentary ARC was provided by the author and I chose to write an honest review.

This story was a delightful read for me.. I was captivated by the sweet love story that developed between Alex and Kate and the mystery behind Claire. This book left me longing to read the next book in this series!

3.5 stars. Numerous twists; interesting characters. The protagonist faced numerous confusing information which, at times, became tedious.

I enjoyed the story but a few things niggled at me so I marked it fewer stars.

1. I knew straight off she was Claire.
2. When she had forgot she’d mention random stuff no one would pick up on.
3. No guy acts like that after a week, much less a day.

There was too much fate for me in this book. Although it is an original story, which I like.

I’d give it a read, not everyone’s as picky as me.

Plus I’m in love with Emma and Travis love story.
An interesting missing persons case that shifts from 1st to 3rd person narrative; and about thirty year shift(s). No language or intimate situations.

It only seems to come as ebook, and I hope the sequel comes at a sale price sometime soon.

Right up front, I'll admit that this author is my treasured niece. That being said, about three pages in, I forgot that I was reading my "niece's book" and just wanted to know who Kate was, and what did she have to do with Claire? This book defies categories. I'd call it a mystery for sure, but it's also a love story, and a story about how love triumphs through perseverance. Grab tissues at the end. Just when you think you have it figured out, there is more...

This is a rich, heartwarming story of love, loss, and triumph, a love story wrapped in a murder mystery nestled against a pair of kidnappings and lost memories/identities. Partly epistolary, partly first person, and partly third, the blend of voices and styles allows for a deeper knowledge of the characters and permits the story to unfold gracefully as more details and facts and personalities are layered into an exquisite confection.

Fun "Have to finish it now" story

The story hooks you with the first line and keeps it interesting all the way through. I found the main characters all endearing and enjoyed both the romantic part of the story as well as the mystery.

The Blue Reboso - Another heartwarming, interesting story using an ancestor from the author's own family as the main character. There are two actually, the Reboso plays a important part in the story. Well written and interesting in the telling of time history and the perils and struggles faced by people then. The characters are developed enough to be interesting and you root for them. The storyline is well developed and I feel I'm there with the family as the story unfolds. A job well done with ...more

This book... wow.

I will start off with stating that this is not my usual preference in genre. I often find myself bored with anything mundane and not magical or supernatural in nature. That being said this book delightfully surprised me!

There was nothing boring about it. The story flowed so well and kept me literally on the edge of my seat. Every time I had to put the book down to do (yuck) real life things, I actually found

The book starts when Kate wakes up, tied up and alone, in the back of a van. She does not remember who she is or how she got there. She finally escapes from a house where they had kept her, and after a frightening run through the woods, she finds herself at a cabin of a man named Alex. She tells him she has been kidnapped and her kidnappers are after her. Alex takes her to the hospital to be checked and get medical treatment and calls the police. Best of times, worst of times

I loved this book. Funny, sad, dramatic resolution.

Rainy being kidnapped was frightening. She kept her wits about her constantly. Her escape was great and her landing was the best. She was so fortunate when she landed safely. It was easy to see how easily everyone liked her.

Alex was heartbreaking. He was so hurt and that clouded his trust in his feelings for Rainy. I cried at the cemetery scene.

Super reading about the connection Alex had with college friend/ cop D

I loved this book. I knew I would as soon as I read the synopsis. I have a big to-be-read stack and this book didn’t sit well at the bottom so jumped to the top very quickly – even more so as the publication date was fast approaching.

I found it to be a gripping tale that had me repeatedly saying “one more chapter” and ended with another day of no housework and little sleep!

I obtained this free e-book from Amazon and I am voluntarily writing a review. A woman finds herself bound and on the floor of a moving van with no memory of anything prior to that moment or even her name. She is taken to a house and locked in a closet with her hands still bound. Eventually she is able to get away from her kidnappers and wanders most of the night trying to find help and avoid recapture. She comes upon an isolated cabin with lights on and a cat sitting in the window and knocks on ...more

She ran as fast as she could through the brush. Falling every so often. Until she saw the cat perched on the windowsill. A soft glow coming from inside. Alex opened the door to the beaten woman. She didn’t remember her own name but he knew he needed to help her. All she remembered was being kept in a closet by two men. He named her Rainy, because it was a rainy night when she showed up at his door. His friends thought it was a mistake for him to take care of her. To let her stay in his home. He ...more
The first in the Hill Country Secrets by Pamela Humphrey. A woman wakes up in a van, unaware of who she is. She is taken and put into a closet. She escapes and manages to get to a cabin where Alex lives. She tells Alex she was kidnapped and that she doesn't know who she is. After the hospital and police she stays with Alex waiting for her memory to return.
