I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. This is my first time reading a book by this author but it certainly won't be my last. This book was so much fun and I just adored Lucie and Dale! Even though Lucie hates the Christmas season (with good reason) the book is very festive and sweet. A great Christmas read!

Lucie is to be a bridesmaid at her old university friend, Petra’s, extravagant wedding in New York, just before Christmas. Determined that she can’t go alone, she asks her best friend Dale to go with her.

Dale and Lucie have been best friends since they were little children, and knowing that he can’t let Lucie down, he agrees to go.

Not knowing how to break the news to his mother, as she always puts on a big spread for the family at Christmas, he tells Lucie that she has to go with him to explain

I've been to New York at Christmas and I was just waiting for this part in the book! Darcie paints it so well! I just adored Lucie and Dale and couldn't wait to see what transpired with them. There were tears and smiles and out-loud giggles all the way through. A wonderful holiday read!

As I adored Wish upon a Christmas Cake by Darcie Boleyn, I was really excited to discover that she had another Christmas themed book out for 2016. But would it live up to the 5 stars that I gave to one of my most favourite Christmas romances EVER? Amazingly it did and not only that-I loved this book EVEN MORE!

Lucie and Dale have been friends since they were children and have been there for each other through good times and bad. Dale will do anything to keep Lucie happy so when she asks him to be

Another enchanting book from the talented Darcie Boleyn, and probably the third or fourth book I have read set in New York at Christmas this year alone. However this is definitely a good contender for Christmas in New York book of the season, as it follows the story of Lucie and Dale, childhood best friends.

Lucie though is not a fan of Christmas with good reason, which is hinted at throughout the book, and finally revealed. Dale loves Christmas and when Lucie asks if he will accompany

Oh I do love this author's writing! I thoroughly enjoyed escaping in this festive friends to lovers romance and have no hesitation in highly recommending it to anyone seeking a novel with great, well developed, complex characters whose past greatly influences their attitudes and behaviour. They're easy to relate to, too, believable and a delight to get to know. The storyline is full of twists and turns so whilst everyone knows what they hope will happen there are plenty of surprises in store for ...more

What a deliciously romantic festive read! This book has all the elements of a traditional Christmas tale, but still managed to surprise me with its honesty and hopeful sentiment. The excitement of a trip to New York, the luxurious wedding, the plush hotel, the horse-drawn carriage and the crisp white snowfall all set the scene perfectly, but never distract from the heart of the story in which Lucie and Dale must find a way to overcome their issues to have any chance of moving forward together. What a fabulous festive read! A Very Merry Manhattan Christmas is my first Christmas book of the season and it has set the benchmark very high!

Lucie and Dale are the best of friends, have been since they were little. Lucie has been invited to New York for Christmas to be bridesmaid for one of her University friends, Petra and she doesn’t hesitate in asking Dale to join her, who better to be her plus one?! Lucie is not a fan of Christmas for good reason and whilst Dale isn’t a fan of her Universi

Can opposite genders ever REALLY be ‘just friends’? Lucie Quigley seems to think so, after all, her best friend, Dale, has been by her side through thick and thin. So when Lucie gets asked to be involved in her friends Manhattan wedding, the only person she wants to accompany her is Dale. Unfortunately for Lucie , the wedding is just before Christmas and given the fact she dislikes the festive season, she is will be hea

4.5 star review of A Very Merry Manhattan Christmas by Darcie Boleyn
What's not to love? It's the most magical time of the year and also happens to be my most favourite holiday. I love any story that is centred on Christmas; it’s a time for family and friends to get together and celebrate life.
This was a fun, quirky, fast read and one I thoroughly enjoyed. Darcie Boleyn is a new author to me and I was impressed with her writing style; I felt at times I was transported to Manhattan.

This was a very enjoyable, easy reading story set around Lucie and Dale, who have been best friends forever. Lucie is invited to her rich friend's wedding in Manhattan at Christmas, all expenses paid, and she persuades Dale to come along as her plus one.

Christmas is always a hard time of year for Lucie because her Mum died on Christmas Eve so she has hated Christmas since she was 13. Dale has a big boisterous family and he always tries to drag her into the festivities so she's not alone and some

A Very Merry Manhattan Christmas by Darcie Boleyn is one of the best Christmas novels I have read so far this season. The characters are well developed and the situations they find themselves in will bring smiles and laughter to your holiday season.
Lucy Quigly needs at date for her university best friend’s wedding in New York where she will be one of the bridesmaids.. Lucy hates Christmas. It brings back painful memories she would rather ignore so she ignores the whole season, but this year will

Loved this festive story!

Lucie and Dale have been friends for years and when Lucie is asked to be a bridesmaid at her friend’s wedding in New York, over Christmas, she asks her best friend Dale to go along with her. Trouble is Dale always spend Christmas with his mum and he’s dreading having to tell her he won’t be around to celebrate the festive season at home. When he does break the news, mum gets hold of the wrong end of the stick entirely and thinks Lucie and Dale are now a proper couple, a

The sign of an excellent book to me is one i cant put down. A Very Merry Manhattan Christmas was in that category. Lucie has been asked by her friend Petra to be a bridesmaid.
The venue will be in New York, flights and accommodation paid for by Petra's father. Of course Lucie asks her best friend Dale to come with her. I loved the friendship between Dale and Lucie, he really was an amazing friend. It was clear for readers to see his true feelings for Lucie. Even though she couldn't.

This book was a pleasant Christmas surprise. I expected a cheesy Hallmark-esque Christmas romance, but this book, while it still had all of the feel-good stuff, also dealt with deeper issues (death, family abandonment, and how these two things can affect one during a holiday). The friendship/romance was realistic and charming and there can never be enough descriptions of NYC at Christmas time. A perfect December read.

I received a copy of this book to read from NetGalley in return for my honest opinion.
I have been incredibly slack as it was a considerable time ago that I was given it to read and it did take me until this Christmas holidays to start reading 'A Very Manhattan Christmas'. It really was a lovely book that had a really strong story so, while I'm sorry I took so long to get to it in my list of books to read, I'm delighted I took the time to sit down with it.

I had high expectations with this book to really make the charm and whimsy of Christmas explode around me. Christmas in Manhattan sounds wonderful and it was, but it just took too long for Lucie and Dale to get there. Instead, I felt like too much time was spent lying to family and friends about their fake relationship as an excuse for missing Christmas and how they will “break up” when they get back.

I also felt completely uninformed and in the dark about what happened to Lucie’s mother and why

Aww a sweet Christmas story. That yes you do know where it is going but sometimes there is great comfort in the norm. I thought that the book was slow in places. But the way it was written with the dialogues and descriptions soon makes up for that.

I liked the characters in this book and for the most I enjoyed the plot. I found Dale a little bit annoying when he was umming and ahhing so much about not going to Christmas at his parents. I understood the condrey but it went on a little too long fo

Oh I do love a good romance. Oh and I love Christmas. Oh and I do love New York. Combine these three things and you have the fabulous romantic read A Very Merry Manhattan Christmas by Darcie Boleyn. Winner winner.

A Very Merry Manhattan Christmas is the wonderfully festive tale of two friends who are meant to be together finding love and discovering something that had been there all along. Lucie and Dale have been friends for forever and even though everyone around them can see that they are mean

What's not to love? Christmas, snow and NYC! And the fact that I love Darcie's books could only ever add up to a successful formula!

Lucie hate Christmas, with good reason and she escapes to New York to attend the wedding of her friend. She takes her best friend Dale and as the magic of New York works its way into them, they realise their feelings are running deeper. But who will make the first move? And will changing their relationship spoil it?

On the surface, it seems like a typical Christmas r

What a charming book to put you in the Christmas spirit.

Lucie and Dale have been friends since childhood. Dale has always been a rock for Lucie. When Lucie is a bridesmaid for a friend getting married in New York City at Christmas, she asks Dale to come with her. Dale knows that Lucie will need help just getting on the plane from London. Christmas is a difficult time for Lucy, since her mother passed away on Christmas Eve when she was a youngster.

But with the time away help them both realize the

A Very Merry Manhattan Christmas by Darcie Boleyn tells the story of Lucie and Dale who have known each other for years. Lucie's friend is getting married in New York and they travel there together. This was the first book I listened to by this particular author, and it was a great festive story, funny romantic and realistic. There was a lot of backstory but it was all relevant to the plot and I felt I knew the characters well. I was rooting for Dale and Lucie and I want to read another book by ...more

I've been eyeballing all the Christmas themed novels popping up in stores for a while now. I've never read one and since last year didn't seem Christmas like at all to me, I've been wondering if they might help get me in the mood this year, so this ARC copy couldn't have come at a better time! Predictable in some ways, but with some twists you won't see coming, it was definitely a nice, fluffy read with definite Bridget Jone vibes. The couple definitely has chemistry which has been sort of hard ...more

I'm sure this is a lovely and heartwarming story once you get into the thick of it, but for some reason, I just could not stay interested. Lucie is fine. Dale is a good friend. It's obvious they're meant for each other. Petra is perfectly "eh" in that you're-ok-but-I-have-this-iffy-feeling kind of way. Everything was perfectly normal for this type of genre. And maybe that's the problem - I've been on a holiday chick lit binge for a week now and I guess I've hit my limit. To those who like it, ri ...more

It is a good Christmas story

This book was well written and had a good story line. The characters were real was also a nice clean story, although the main characters loved each other, they also had a lot of respect for each other and didn't force the sexual side of their relationship.

Another lovely Book.

Another lovely book from Darcie-Boleyn. I recently found her books and currently reading them all. I really enjoyed A Very Merry Manhattan Christmas. It was sad in places, funny and happy.
