Dreams of Inan #1

A Kind of Peace

Rate this book
Inan. A planet where the nation states have been at war for over half a millennium. So are they ready for peace?

Only at a price.

In a world where magic and technology have become intertwined, the Mages of each nation state — the ultimate wizards — have become the ultimate weapons. So what happens when one of them is abducted, and the planet is threatened with a new war that could lead to global annihilation?

The ultimate weapons will meet the ultimate warrior, Simeon 7.

Encountering military might, political machinations, and magical manifestations, those who would oppose him soon find that nothing can break the determination of a warrior on a mission.

I’ve had this on my pile for years and it has finally made its way to the top. Not too many reviews for this and those that exist are not favourable. That’s unfair, this is a blend of sci-fi and fantasy probably aimed at the “pulp” market. Set on a planet in conflict, there is magic and technology. A peace agreement looks to change everything, but some see an opportunity for power. Simeon is a basic but determined warrior, when he is set up to fail in his guarding of a Mage, his enemies find they have underestimated him. A quick and easy read, no great depth, but I’m not sure that was the intention.
