“Guilt. A painful, lonely feeling. It seeps into your pores slowly as you go through life day by day. Like a disease, it blackens your heart with thoughts and memories of what you did, or in my case, what you didn’t do.”

Surviving the storm was only the beginning for Jules. Surviving the guilt? That is something only love can

Enjoyed the sequel very much, just as much as the first! I love the characters and the story itself was wonderful, though heartbreaking at times. I'm looking forward to reading the last book and can't wait for these two to get their HEA once and for all. There's a lot more angst and drama in this book and at times I was worried for both Jules and West if they could really get past all the guilt they feel. After surviving the storm in From the Wreckage, both of their lives have really changed.

I will never be the same girl I was before West. Everything changed the night of the twister. Everything.

Jules used to know who she was. In school she did it all: cheerleader, student council, popular. But then the tornado that bore down on Tyler came and took her town, her school, and her friends. Lying with the rest of the debris somewhere scattered is also her confidence and her security. Now she doesn't know who she is. She is still dealing with grief and loss, but most of all guilt. Gui

Speechless. That is how Out of Ruins left me. When I finished this heartachingly beautiful story I wiped my tears away, because yes I was crying, and just sat on my bed at a complete and utter loss of words.

Jules and West are two teenagers who have experienced an immense amount of loss, grief, and guilt at a very young and already difficult age. Instead of dealing with their guilt and grief in healthy ways, they get cover up the pain with alcohol, sex, and love. Their story is proof that even w

Guaranteed satisfaction! After the last words of the book are devoured, one marks the calendar for the next book release date in the trilogy. I fell in love with the characters and the pace of the story. The author will certainly receive accolades for her talents with this novel. I didn't want to put the book down. If teachers or high school students are seeking a book for a project or lesson in character development and foreshadowing then this is the book to select. The intimacy is tastefully a ...more

Well Michele has once again ripped my heart out.
In From the Wreckage we dealt with a physical tornado. In Out Of Ruins we deal with an emotional one.
I am completely in love with Jules and Wests story. Not only are they teenagers dealing with the heavy emotions of young love, but everything is magnified by the trauma of the near death experience they shared. But is that experience the only reason for their bond? Or is it really genuine love? In this sequel, doubts are dealt with and insecuritie

Out of the ruins... this book is amazing. It is full of drama and love and something every teen age girl wants someday, well most of it anyway. The book is not like other books it is... different some way it pulls you in and doesn't let go, it brings the story to you so you don't have to imagine it. I think that the way the book is set up, so the Jules it telling the story to a camera, makes the story better in a way, it is hard to explain most of the story is like it is in the present but the o ...more

The journey for Jules continues as she is in a new school and she is trying to deal with the loss! She turns to some bad habits to try and mask the pain! West is trying to be her support but things are not always easy, especially when Jules tries to hide her pain! What happens when tragedy strikes again? Will Jules and West lives be altered again? Such an emotional story, so excited for the next book! I need to know how it ends!

Can't wait for book 3! Ugh!
Jules and West are completely infatuated with one another until another tragedy rips them apart. West, West, West! What will we do with you!?

Just as good as the first! Different emotions, things I hope I never really have to understand. For a teen love it's pretty epic.

A story about how life can change with the click of fingers. The love is there but will it survive through all the heartache that is still there from the incident. Great Second Book :D

What the hey . . .

I guess I have to say I am ticked at the ending. I loved these characters and guess what I am not a teen. I am older. I loved the story until the end. I guess I feel cheated.
But it was a great story and should be read. Don't take my review as a reason not to read as it is worth it.

The first book in this series From the Wreckage absolutely killed me. It left me awe inspired and slightly broken. Okay, it left me a lot broken. But I had hope, yes Michele G Miller gave me hope. There was going to be a book 2, EEP! I was giddy and nervous. I found out there was also going to be a book 3. I bit my nails. My mind was going a hundred miles an hour thinking of all the things that could happen in the next two books. Michele G Miller already ripped my heart out with From the Wreckag ...more

Upon finishing From the Wreckage, I waited about three long seconds before grabbing book two. The love story before was sweet, but I wanted more of it. I wanted to know why present day Jules was recording the story of events from high school, and even more why she kept touching a ring finger that held no ring.

School is starting again for Jules's senior class, but they've all been split up among neighboring districts, since their own school is no more. Jules and Katie, along with West and a few o

All I can say is wow! This series is exactly the kind of book I love to read. Love stories, love stories and more love stories. But there wasn't always a smile on my face. At times there were tears. But isn't that what is great about a really good book? It makes you feel all the feelings that you can only feel when you truly care about what happens to the characters.

"When you want something in life you need a reason for wanting it, or else you'll give up when it gets too hard."

Jules is at a new school, trying to move on from a horrible tragedy that destroyed everything she once knew. She is faced with new people who don't understand her, and mean girls that just want to make her life harder. This book made me so glad that I'm not a teenager anymore.

There is one saving grace, however, and his name is West. Having broken up with her longt

Well I haven't read a book in a day for a while! Every time I went to put this book down there was always another emotion/act that got to me. Jules and West are probably one of my favourite book couples. You see the journey they go on as they try and sort through their emotions after the night of the storm. They fall in love quickly but in a way that is believable. They are each others anchors to stay calm when the grief and pain they feel becomes too much and its fair to say you feel all the em ...more

This book is the follow-up to From the Wreckage. Jules picks up her story right where the previous book ends. Through the entire book, I am riding an emotional rollercoaster. I know that Jules, West, or both of them will eventually break into pieces, and I want to stop it from happening.

I am so drawn into this story, so invested in these characters. That is the beauty of Miller’s storytelling ability. She makes you one with the book…part of the story. I hang on every word of dialogue. I am on th

Intensely, tragically beautiful

This is not my typical story. I am a mother, not a young adult, and this story, from the perspective of mother of a teen girl, scares the crud out of me! The need Jules and West feel for each other is so real. Young love has so much intensity! In book 2, West and Jules fight the demons that remain after the tornado and devastation of their town and lives. They are inexplicably drawn to each other with a fierce need. They are also on a direct path to self-destructio

Yet again, Miller strikes literary gold with this second installment of the From The Wreckage series. Just like the first, I couldn't put this one down until I finished. I love when a story takes hold of me so firmly and I find myself up until the wee hours of the morning soaking up the very last words. Reading this story was like being strapped into a wild roller coaster ride, some times you want to throw your hands up and throw caution to the wind and others you approach with caution. Out of Ruin is the second book in the From The Wreckage Series. It is NOT a standalone and must be read in order. The story is being told in an interesting way: Jules, a high school senior, is recording herself on video telling about the living after the events of a night that changed a town and her forever.

Surviving a tragedy is hard and Miller does an excellent job telling Jules story. You get all the feels as your reading: love, loss, guilt, desperation, anger, fear.

I truly appreciate the plot device using Jules’ monologue to connect the threads of the story as well as filling in the occasional missing pieces.

Another good read!
I still enjoyed the first book more than the second, but it's a necessary step. We get an insight into West's life and the guilt he's struggling with both from losing his mum and from the tornado.
We pick up how Jules is doing after the car accident. And of course how college life starts :)
I really liked the parts that involved Austin and Jules and how they interacted and helped fill a hole inside themselves. Kept me on my toes thinking what would happen between them! Need bo

This book filled my heart and mind. Jules and West are recovering from the wreckage of a tornado and the emotional damage it created. Together they try to be strong for each other, but are they strong enough for themselves? Their stories made me treasure them both and hope they both recover and heal. Their feelings for each other made me hope that love can be what heals them. Michele has written another outstanding story. I wait patiently for the final book.

Ah, I just loved this. I am so excited for the 3rd one!!!

The relationship between Jules and West is so real. The way Jules counts on him as her anchor since the tornado speaks to me. I love that they are both having their time to heal from emotional wounds. *crosses fingers* that way , hopefully if they manage to get back together it'll be a healthier relationship! I just love them together and I hope they find their way back to each other!

“So let’s get this straight right now. Have you ever seen a teen movie or TV show with a big, raging party scene? Get that out of your mind. This is high school, not college, and it’s Texas. In Texas, we do bonfires on the ranch…not mansions and hotel rooms. We do daisy dukes, backward baseball caps and faded blue jeans…not sparkling cocktail dresses or fancy button ups. I love Texas. I love the laid-back, country style of my hometown and my people.” 1 likes
