We, the seeds of Humanity, are all the descendants of hardened criminals, fighting to survive the unmaking of A Throne of Souls.

Magic and technology have already met on a world far more advanced than our own only to dispense their most dangerous and hardened criminals, for magic has been outlawed. Their descendants—us, here on Earth, along with the rest of Humanity—are now

I won't review this book since I wrote it, but I'll share the first Critic Review from Christopher Ford in the U.K. His full review is expected to be published very soon and available on his site www.chrisfordnovels.com.

In his preview of his review Christopher said: "As for the story itself, it is a very complex plot line with lots of fascinating characters. However, I do not think you should change anything for the following books. It will not appeal to everyone, but then no book does, but to

I genuinely don’t know where to begin with this review. All I know is that if I have to read the word “seductively” one more time, I’m going to scream into a pillow for five years. Even typing the word is giving me PTSD. Buddy, if your characters are as smoking hot as you describe, you won’t need to continuously use the word ‘seductive’ to describe everything they do. Every single one of them was described as some variation of ‘handsome’, ‘stunning’, ‘chiselled’, or ‘perfect’. The women were ...more

The review I am bringing you today is a very special one. If you are looking forward to an easy, leisurely read that will while away a few hours, then please, please look elsewhere. If you are looking for a difficult, challenging and thought provoking read that will change your view of literature forever then look no further than A Kingdom Forgotten. This offering is the debut from American author Charles McDonald, and wow…what a debut!!

When I first spoke to Charles and he asked me to review his

Charles McDonald starts the book off with a "How To" for reading his book to help the reader to understand there are time jumps and characters swaps throughout his book. I thought this was reasonable to do, just so that readers can understand what his symbols meant. However, after reading further into the book, I began to really loathe the sheer number of time skips and characters. It was difficult to keep up with. I'm sure there are more rhyme and reason to it when you get further into the ...more

Fair warning, this is my longest review yet. I don’t feel like this author’s work is well-known so I’ll try to help out.

Before I decided to read this book, I did some homework on the material because at the beginning of each book there is a preface and it can come off as intimidating content. I've read well over a hundred books now and well into my second hundred and complex content doesn't really scare me off. That's important for this series, because it is dense material and (by the author's

McDonald writes with a style that Robert Jordan would be proud of!

Written across a vast expanse of time and space, Charles McDonald Jr's novel is a multi-layered revival of several genres: sci-fi, fantasy and drama.

To divulge, I began to learn that McDonald Jr's world-building is a refreshing expression of magic realism. A mixture of medievalism, post-modernity and a splash of futurism thrown in shouldn't have worked as well as it did. Semantic language captures tone and themes of the novel so I was aware of the location and time-frame we had entered.

A Kingdom Forgotten is a dramatic, thrilling and exciting novel that will keep readers entertained, captivated and engrossed from start to finish. Fantasy reads are my go to read and even more so when they have a unique twist; A Kingdom Forgotten does have this because it is a novel that combines magic with technology and takes readers on an unforgettable journey through different periods of time. Now that I have finished A Kingdom Forgotten I can honestly write that never before have I been so ...more

"...like unto..." has become my most disliked phrase in a book. It is over used and makes the writing look clumsy. Keep your similes simple. The author clearly has a lot of good ideas bouncing around in his head, but this book needs a lot of editing. I have no desire to read the next book in the series.
