Book 2 opens with Diamond and Hugo in a seemingly hopeless situation, captives to the cruel Queen. To make matters worse, the Wraith Lord is closing in, and Diamond is the only one who can stop him. So the enslaved Diamond trains, and Hugo oversees her progress and things are super tense between them and . . . yeah, I’m living for all the angst, trust me!

I thoroughly enjoyed this second offering in the Goddess and the Guardian series. Everything I enjoyed in book 1 was cranked up a few notches,

... How am I even expected to open up this review?!? I absolutely LOVED this book! It had me even more hooked than the first book, and that is saying something because ABOVAM was a complete page turner!

I think my favourite aspect of this book was Diamonds character development. In the first book, she is extremely mild and naive because she was extremely sheltered from the world through her upbringing. I loved the change that training brought about in her and her resolve to remain strong, despit

Rating: 2,5 stars

I'm not quite sure what to write, to be completely honest. There were things I really liked very much, and some just left me with the desire to bang my head against the nearest wall. Repeatedly.

THINGS I LIKED:
I flew right through this book, Tomlinson's writing style is one I like. It's easy to read through, and

What an amazing and full sequel to A Bond Of Venom and Magic! This one has even more adventure, more emotion, more fulfillment of the characters. I am amazed at how breathtaking this book was! I found myself overwhelmed at times with the emotion that was wrung out of me. Even when I wanted to smack both Hugo and Diamond on their respective noggins I was unable to put this down. Karen gave us characters to love, hate, laugh over, cry for and enjoy as they moved along through the terrible trials t ...more

Fantastic! This story is powerful, gritty, and terrifying! Hugo has one overriding concern, protect Diamond from the Queen at all costs! At the same time he has to turn her into the ultimate weapon! Diamond for her part must be the best or fail at her test and watch her friends die in horrible ways! Forced to train and fight day after day being battered and bruised to the limits of endurance, she must cope with her magic as well! She must also deal with her connection to Hugo who is also trainin ...more

A Bond of Blood and Fire was a stunning installment in the series and world created by Karen Tomlinson. I liked the first book, A Bond of Venom and Magic, but I did have a few issues with it (check out my review to find out why!). Did some of these issues continue in the sequel? A resounding no! I'll break it down belo

This is the second book in The Goddess and the Guardians series. I'm a big fan of the first book and fell in love with the characters and the whole story when it was first released last year. The end of the first book actually lefy me with a massive book hangover so to say I was impatiently awaiting the release of book two is putting it mildly!

A Bond of Blood and Fire lived up to all my expectations. In this book we finally get to see Diamond grow and blossom into the woman she's destined to be.

All I can say is this: Wow! The MCs are finally growing up and understanding each other and the action, steamy and intense (in multiple ways).

The Evil Queen is still just as vile as ever. I just want to punch her in the face. Lol

Prince Jack really needs a side story to find his love. If Diamond wasn't pinning for Hugo, I'd want

You will need two things to read this: tissues and a stomach for violence, and I don't mead that badly. Few YA fantasy books go into the depth that this does with the battles, cruelty and brutality of war, having said that, it doesn't cross the line into purely adult making this a book that can be enjoyed by older teens and adults alike.

Diamond grew beautifully in this book, the softer unchallenged half-fae from the previous books becomes strong and tempered, yet loses none of her kindness and

I had the rare opportunity to beta read this book last year. I was really excited to find where Diamond and Hugo's story would lead. AND, I wasn't disappointed. Then, I got lucky and got an arc.

So, my friends if you read A Bond of Venom and Magic you know how it ended? Our girl Diamond is in a crappy situation. Well, the story continues right after. I actually like that about this series. Why delay the fun? ;)

The first book was not my favorite, but left me intrigued enough to try book two, a Bond of Blood & Fire. I have to say, this second book was waaaay better than the first book! Everything the first book lacked, this book had. The end left me dying to read the next book! I hope it comes out soon! Very unique fantasy setting & world building. Lots of action, adventure, twists & turns & romance. Really enjoyed this second book!

An emotional rollercoaster full of so many ups and downs I couldn't put the book down even if I tried.
I loved how the characters grew in this sequel. They were strong, determined and caring. The depth of emotional the characters had and felt leapt off the pages and I felt like it was my own; as if I was going on this journey with them.
The story was fast-paced and thrilling. There was never a dull moment and it's guaranteed to keep you entertained and reading all through the night.

I can't begin to describe how exciting this book is! I literally got heart palpitations and anxiety reading it. Following on with Diamonds story we continue the roller coaster of what will happen between her Hugo. I went from hating him to respecting him in one breath.

We see the story develop towards the wraith God battle that the evil queen has her set up to fight in. Diamonds strength and will comes into its own and her charact

I really, really wanted to love this book. The first had such potential, but I just couldn't stomach the vomit-inducing "love interest" this time around. Diamond had a pretty tumultuous relationship with Hugo in book one while he tried to untangle his feelings for her and conflicting loyalty to his queen, but here he's just a bastard. He physically assaults Diamond, talks to her like crap, pulls her hair, makes her cry...and worst of all, pretends that he's doing these things for her own

I really like the first book and I’m glad the second one continues right where we left our characters. Diamond must train with Hugo and the other guards. I finished this book two days ago and I'm still trying to catch my breath. I both love and loathe Tomlinson for her ability to pick up all of my emotions, put them into a tiny bag, and practice her mad kickboxing skills with her homemade punching bag. I was definitely destroyed at the hands of this book.

After reading the first book, I was in love with Commander Hugo Casimir! However, in ABOBAF Tomlinson spends the time to explain his past. This adds a whole new layer of depth to him and it becom

Two words: character development!

Synopsis: Diamond and Hugo are captives of the Queen in her capital city, Diamond as a prisoner and Hugo as her abused servant and guard. The Queen has plans for Diamond and her powers that will undoubtedly lead to her death, but should Hugo be caught trying to help her escape it could spell doom for both of them. Meanwhile, the Wraith Lord draws near and only Diamond stands a chance at halting his forces—as Diamond trains with the army and Hugo oversees her phys

I have to say that this is better then book one. The first book we get to know the characters, Get a feel for the kingdom and it's politics.
The second book we see the main heroine Diamond grow and mature to become more of an independent women. She doesn't rely on Hugo as much as she did in the previous book.
There are two sections in this book. The first half is about Diamond training to become a solider and we see her getting to know Hugo more in this story. However I did find her really annoy

I thought the first book in this series was powerful but I had not read this 2nd book yet!! This book grips the reader and carries them through the extreme torture Diamond endured during her training where she learned to harness her physical and magical powers to be honed into the weapon the Immortal Queen needed in order to fight the Wraight Lord, it also wrenched our hearts every time Hugo had to act callously against Diamond and made our hearts soar when their amazing nexus bond made them sha ...more

Who doesn't like Dragons, evil queens, secret groups, Princes, Fae and magic?

I'm pretty sure everyone knows that I am the biggest fan of the first book. This one, on the other hand, did not disappoint! The same amount of swoon, epicness, brilliant portrayal of characters development. I love this series so much and wish I could just go ahead and get it in hardcopy.

I still wanted to slap Hugo, sometimes. Ugh he could be so infuriating at times. But his POV was nice though. Diamond was kick ass. The queen was a *****

I had a really hard time getting into this book. My first problem was that when I got the book I didn't realize it was a book 2 so I didn't read book 1 first. I had to push myself thru the book and it took several days to read when normally I could have read a book this size in one day. That being said, the book did improve later which held my attention a bit more. Overall, the book is ok but by the time I actually got interested, it was almost over. F

This is an excellent continuation from the first book in the series. It had me on my toes the entire time, waiting to find out what would happen. The dynamics between Hugo and Diamond were as amazing as ever, and once you add in the rest of the characters, it made for a great combination. The character growth was on point, and learning far more about the world’s history and its characters left you wanting more even up until the very end. I would give this book six stars if I could. Karen Tomlinson is the USA Today Bestselling author of The Goddess and the Guardians YA fantasy books.

Karen adores books and will read any genre that catches her eye. She was whisked away by fairies as a child, has been a dragon rider and grew up learning to fight. (This bit’s true!) She likes nothing better than an epic fantasy full of hot warriors and romance especially when it is set in a magic
