Gemstones and Other Unique Minerals and Rocks of Wyoming: A Field Guide for Collectors

Rate this book
Many people consider Wyoming a wide-open frontier, where new mineral discoveries are made every year. Bulletin 71 was written primarily as a treatise on gemstone and related mineral and rock occurrences in Wyoming. Besides the mineralogist and gemologist, mineral collectors and rock hounds who enjoy hunting for rock and mineral specimens and have some background in mineralogy and geology will find this publication of value. It can best be used in conjunction with the maps shown or referenced in the text.

WOW! Where are all of the other geologists in the geological survey? Hausel and Sutherland review hundreds of gemstone deposits in Wyoming (most found by Dr. Hausel) in an state where people assumed little to no gemstones occurred, other than jade and agate. Hausel found world-class iolite deposits, rubies, sapphires, peridot, giant opals, agates, jasper, and diamonds galore. No one in history has ever made so many discoveries. This guy deserves a medal!

What is wrong with the governor, director and legislature - don;t you people realize how valuable this guy is? Without his work, our geological understanding of Wyoming would still be several centuries old!

Give him a medal!!
