descriptionThis is a pretty good cover. A good representation of the story within. Good composition. Interesting typography. I probably would have moved the author's name to below the title and tagline and moved everything up a bit. Overall though this one works.description

descriptionWhoa...so this book was fifty shades of FUCKED UP! I don't even know where to begin with this review. I don't want to give too much away, so I am going to be pretty vague in my comments.

First up I want to say that I LOVED every minute of this one. It pushed every one of my dirty, twisted, depraved loving buttons. It was fabulously written. Incredibly face paced. It was like getting a shot of adrenalin straight in your ass. There were twists and turns. Interesting side characters. Twisted fucked up main characters that you won't be able to help herself falling in love with. Murder, mayhem, sex next to a dead body...honestly just do yourself a favor and READ IT. Two HUGE thumbs and toes up for this one.description

When I first picked up this book, it was because of the cover. If you follow my reviews you know I love Their Vampire Queen, and the cover from the second book in that series, is almost the same as this one. The authors did explain that its a stock photo, which they've adapted individually to both of their series. I did not mistake this book for the other, I just thought the cover looks awesome and then committed the sin of all sins in the reading world: I judged the book by said cover. However, I am now regretting that because this book was a waste of time!

Ebony has suffered through an awful upbringing filled with neglect. Now she's trying to support herself, which her uncle Giordano has the perfect opportunity for. By being a waitress in his restaurant she can make some money. Jett Black, the bad wolf in town, has his eyes on Giordy's restaurant and manages to arrange a meeting at the restaurant. When Jett walks in he straight away notices Ebony and Kate goes to great lengths to explain that Jess doesn't understand why.

After a blood bath shoot out at uncle Giordano's restaurant Jett doesn't want to leave any witnesses, but he doesn't want to kill Ebony neither. Instead he kidnaps her and locks her up in an insane asylum, owned by him. And let me tell you, the treatments that goes on there are not for the fainthearted. Or the sane people. Or anyone, really. Following the involuntary treatment Ebony changes, she becomes just as (if not more) insane as Jett himself. In other words, through torture he has succeeded in creating his perfect match. And Ebony is more than ready to take her place at Jett's side, no matter the cost.

Throughout the book I couldn't shake the feeling, that I was reading a Harley Quinn and the Joker inspired love story. The thing with torturing her, or getting others to do it, and then fall more crazy in love than even Beyonce could have predicted, was just too much and too predictable. It really was just like a modernised re-writing of a Harley & Joker plot line.

The supposedly dark scenes and aspect of the book didn't bother me. In fact I'm not even sure this should be classed as a dark romance, and definitely not erotic. Because all those dark and sexy scenes were glossed over. You hear of pain, frustration and destruction, but the author doesn't let you experience it. Maybe the distance was because it's the authors first book in these genres, but to me its not a hit when authors keep readers away from the ugly and the disturbed. So, I won't be reading the other books in the series.

So obviously this was a dark romance, and to each their own, but if a man put me in an unregulated insane asylum to be tortured with ECT and more for a year (not to mention the sexual assault frmo the guards), I'm not gonna hit him up later. We can just call it done in the relationship category. That's definitely not the only thing that rubbed me the wrong way in this book, but it was the worst. The fact that he sometimes visited the asylum to watch her electroshock therapy, and it made him happy (because he wanted to break her) is just icing on the "nope, none for me" cake.

Hard pass on any other books from this author.

This is the first book I have read from this author, and it certainly won’t be the last.

Ebony Caine is an extended member of a crime family. She has a past that includes a rough childhood, and a stint in juvie. Because of this, she is virtually unemployable, unlike her ‘model’ sisters. But her uncle, Giordano (Giordy) offers her a waitressing job in his restaurant.

On her second day, she is the solitary waitress who remains to serve at an important ‘meeting’.
Jett Black is a self-made kingpin of crime in the city – a deadly rival to Giordano’s family.

“I loved that people are scared of me. I was so damn successful because I didn’t give a crap about anyone or anything…” Jett Black

When a meeting is set up at Giordy’s restaurant, all hell breaks loose, with Jett’s men taking out almost all who attended – except Giordy – who escapes like a coward – and his niece, Ebony – who tries to hide behind the counter while the bullets are flying.

Jett is portrayed as a ruthless, heartless crime boss. But when he takes Ebony, instead of killing her (his motto is ‘never leave any witnesses’) he can’t understand why.

“Ebony. I found myself caring about her, somehow, she had wormed her way into my cold, dead heart, and I didn’t like it.” Jett Black.

Ebony knows of Jett Black by reputation. He is someone to fear. When Jett takes her, she knows her life is on the line. But when he takes her to an institution, she’s given shock treatment, tortured, for almost a year. Instead of being broken by the treatments, her true self is revealed when Jett comes to take her out of Serenity when Jett discovers his father is still alive.

When Ebony slaughters all her extended family at the restaurant, taking delight in ending her uncle’s life, Ebony slowly becomes Jett’s queen. The chemistry between the pair is explosive, although I would have like for their sex scenes to be a little more than what the author has written.

I enjoyed this story. The backstory of Ebony and Jett is revealed bit by bit, throughout, their relationships with their parents, who and what evolves for Jett to get to the top and become a kingpin in the crime industry. It is through the slow reveal that the reader finds out why Ebony took great pleasure in watching life drain out of her uncle’s eyes. Ebony and Jett are a perfect match, and they’re a match to be reckoned with.

Where do I start with this book?
Mine Forever (Deadly women #1) was my first sampling
of Kate Bonham's work and OMG, this is so not going to be my last.
I am now definitely a fan of this wonderfully unique authors work.
Can I just say Kates work is very graphic and may be found somewhat shocking to some, this is a romance but of a very dark perverse variety and if you are easily shocked or offended and like a more conventual approach well you have been warned.
Saying that I love dark disturbing love stories featuring an anti-hero that stays bad and is true to his nature so I was rubbing my hands together in glee.
Jett Black is one of the most sociopathic anti-heroes I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing.
His actions were so wrong and beyond the boundaries of what is acceptable even I struggled with his actions and that's what made this book so good.
Jett was practically the devil incarnate and the things he took pleasure in were just not sane.
The way he tried to mold Ebony into the female version of brokenness that he was were just not the actions of a lover but a torturer.
There was nothing romantic about ebony and Jetts togetherness but boy it was good in a twisted psychotic enthralling train- crash sort of way.
Ebony after leaving the lovely establishment of Serenity was enthralling in her personality overhaul to watch, she is now the queen to Jetts King and its a toss up who's the worst offender when it comes to the bloodshed.
this is sort of a Stockholm syndrome type of relationship but with blurring boundaries.

I really did enjoy reading this I have a soft spot for these type of stories don't ask me why I just do. Mine forever really hit the spot for me.
and even with the murder mayhem and toxic undertone of this so, not right love story, I wanted Jett and Ebony to get there HEA

have you ever read something that's so wrong it's just right, well this story is it for me. fiction is meant to take us out of our comfort zone, make us think and disturb us throw in some hot sex and for me, it's a winner.

Have you ever loved someone so much you would kill for them?

Have you ever loved someone so much you would flip the world upside down for them?

Have you ever loved someone so much you would kill your own family for them?

Ebony would do all of the above. Jett would do all of the above.

This isnt a pretty love story.

This love isn’t roses and chocolates.

This love isnt walks in the park holding hands.

This love isn’t long walks along the beach.

This love isn’t romantic weekend’s away.

“I should have pulled the trigger myself. You can only trust yourself”

The love between Ebony and Jett is Bloody.

There love is torture.

There love is pure.

There love knows no bounds.

No rules.

No remorse.

No limits.

They run the city. But things aren’t always as they seem.

This is a book you will have to read to discover the depth of brokeness, the depth of people with no soul, the depth of love that these two are willing to go through to be forever and always.

To be forever Ebony’s. To be forever Jett’s.

“You played me, and I fell for it ‘cause I’m just a kid. You’re going to kill a kid, you know that? That’s going to fuck with you.”

We loved every moment of this book it was a great dark read we were taken in a journey a pretty messy screwed up one but we loved it!!
Even with many characters Kate seem to tie everything together and kept you guessing at every page there were lots if little twists and turns and lots of elements that you don’t see coming.

Star Rating - ****

Mine, Forever was my first read by Kate Bonham and it was definitely the type of story I enjoy. With the perfect balance of violence and romance, I fled through the latter part of the book, anticipating the finale. I don't feel the book had an eventful ending, but was instead wrapped up nicely with a HEA. No matter how much violence is involved, I'm always after that romantic ending. So if you're into those sorts of story lines, this book is definitely one for you!

Ebony has suffered an awful upbringing and was trying to support herself. Step in Uncle Giordano with the perfect opportunity to make some money, waitressing in his restaurant. Jett Black is the one everybody fears and has his eye on Giordy's restaurant. Arranging a meeting at the restaurant, Jett walks in and catches the eye of Ebony. Who knows why? He doesn't understand himself why he is so interested in the girl. Pick up this read and find out for yourself how their relationship develops and becomes more twisted by the second.

I found this book a little slow going to start with, but the pace soon picked up and I found it easy to read. I loved the relationship between Ebony and Jett, there was just the right amount of dominance without falling into that don/sub category. This book was disgustingly gruesome, but I applaud the author for her amazingly vivid descriptions. All in all, this was a good 4 star read for me!

Mine, Forever is a great read. It’s book one in the Deadly Women series. Once I started reading I felt myself getting sucked right in.

Jett and Ebony haven’t had it easy but they are fighters. I was really rooting for both of them.

My first read by this author but definitely not my last as I find myself jumping into book two.

I have read a few books before by this author and have always enjoyed her style of writing but this book is something so very different from any of her other stories that it came as quite a surprise at how brilliantly good her writing talent is.
This book is so totally messed up in the way that it's so very wrong but so absolutely right. It made me question myself and think about how far would you let someone go with hurting and controlling you and still be able to love them because you are so enraptured by them.
Jett and Ebony have a dark and dangerous attraction to each other that is very addictive and all consuming, and the lifestyle that they lead is filled with an overpowering love and hate that drives them to get what they want no matter the consequences, letting know one get in their way to achieve it.
Jett is a very bad boy but I liked him right from the start, his inner turmoil of letting anyone get close to him and the vile things he puts Ebony through should make you hate him but you just cant help but love him and his dark dangerous demena. Ebony's character had to grow on me and the more I read about her as the book progressed I really connected with her. At the start she was just a shy and quiet character that grew to become a crazy woman on the edge that fights and protects what is hers, she shows exactly how strong she is no matter what she has been put through or by whom.
This book is a psychological mind bender and an epic read. If you like your romance dark and twisted then this book is for you. Im really looking forward to the next book in this brilliant new series.
If I could give more than 5 stars for this book I absolutely would!

Good God almighty!! What a fantastic book! When I began reading this book I rolled my eyes and thought, nope not going to happen for me, but then it grabbed me by the shirt front and pulled me in and I could not stop until I read the last line! Not that the beginning was bad, because it wasn't, but I just didn't think it was my type of read....WRONG! These characters...these completely broken characters were so completely well defined that you would swear that you have read about them in the news papers because they certainly had to be real. And the storyline...a mixture of The Godfather and Scarface....but Jett Black, I believe is so much more ruthless than either of those two. And he is hot as hell! Ebony, what she had been through prior to meeting Jett would have been enough to send her off the deep end, but Jett, whether or not he admitted it at first, was obsessed with her, admiring her spunk, he needed to break her. Dear lord, did he ever and he made her into his female counterpart. It's business, it's revenge, it's crossing lines that get you killed (especially if you worked for Jett), it's about families so completely screwed up that you want to kill these people yourself!

But man, when Jett and Ebony get together, they sparks fly as their passion ignites. These two do not make love...ever, and it is hot as hell. But they love....each other!

I cannot recommend this book highly enough! It is a bloody, hot, and intensely intriguing read.

Mine, Forever by Kate Bonham
Jett Black, the self-made man that created an organization that is feared. He is feared by all and he is on a mission to take over completely. What happens when he meets Ebony with the black eyes? She is the first woman to stand her ground and what he sees in her scares him. He has to break her and his ways are extremely unethical. Could you ever love a man who has put you through the hell he puts her through? Ebony has always had a hard life and her cracks seemed to be caused by two people. When one of those is linked closer to Jett Black, should she run or should she finally stand up to all of them. Ebony and Jett have a dark and sinister attraction to one another. Ebony shows she is more than a love interest to Jett, she shows she is his equal. This is a dark love story, full of twists and turns. Over all the characters are complex and evil, yet you will be routing for them. At times I felt like Jett became soft and Ebony became the more evil of the two. The writing flowed, the story was fast paced and entertained you from the first page. Overall this was a gripping read and if you like dark, evil and twisted then this one is for you.

(4 stars)

This seems to be the first of the Deadly Women series, the series title should be self-explanatory as to what its about. I do believe in soul mates, and this book shows that even merciless killers have them.

Jett knew when he set his eyes on Ebony that she was different, he just didn't know until he saw her spark, that was when he knew with his "help" she would be his queen. His methods of breaking her but not breaking that spirit inside, just giving her a... sort of new outlook on life, were quite extreme IMO. We the reader can see the transformation on the pages as clear as day. After being broken she is the worthy queen for Jett.

This is a dark and twisted story that has dark and twisted happenings. TRIGGER warning for anyone that doesn't like violence and more in their books. I give this 4 stars.

When you have to become the worst version of yourself to overcome the pure evil of others.

Jett Black – Self named by the blackness of his soul, and proud of it. Shooting someone is just business, even those around him should they even begin to question his directives. He is the hero of Mine, Forever and I wonder how I can even begin to relate to him. He ordered his father killed, and is now attending the funeral of the gang-boss who mentored him better than his twisted and abusive father ever could. The funeral of the man he killed. Caught in the crossfire of a turf war is Ebony, the niece of his rival. Now that he knows who she is, he has plans for her.

I hated him for what he put her through.

Ebony Caine has had a less than stellar start to life. She has already been in and out of prison a few times, and at 23, is well aware of Jett’s reputation as the most fearsome and evil man in town. He is someone she hoped to never come across. Unfortunately as a waitress in her Uncle Giordano’s restaurant, the very restaurant that Jett wants to take over, her wish did not come true.

I felt so sorry for what she’d been through.

Disturbing yet still very well written, full of the worst type of soulless people capable of doing the worst that humanity has to offer, Mine, Forever, was a book that was unable to be put down. The plot twists just kept coming, and I was compelled to finish, to see how this love story ended. To see how Jett and Ebony, two dark souls, who incidentally are victims of their upbringing, get their HEA.

I received this book through the Quirky Blind date with a book review group, and is not normally one that I would pick up. We are challenged to read books knowing nothing about them, going in blind so to speak, and this type of book is generally a no-go for me. To be honest, however, in passing over this book, I would have missed out on a well written book, one where I would never believe I would feel empathy for this pair of lovers. The biggest thing for me is that even though the book itself is dark, it is not gory as such, there is enough to carry the story in the context of the relationship between Jett and Ebony.

Just bear in mind, don’t summarily disregard this book because it’s not something you would normally read. Pick it up with open eyes, and enjoy the writing, and the love between two people who would literally fight to the death for each other. 4 Stars for this chilling and deadly romance.

This is my first book by Kate Bonham and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I'm a big fan of mob and dark reads, so I was anxious to read it. And now after reading it, I’m not sure how to review it.

So we meet Ebony who had a very rough life and is trying to start over, but her only option is to work for her uncle who is part of the mob. A couple of days in, Jett Black comes to discuss business with her uncle and takes her hostage. Jett is feared by most of the city and he is very rough around the edges and doesn’t take mouth from anyone. When he sends her back to his club with a message to her uncle it is so out of character for him that her uncle puts out a hit on her as soon as she leaves his club. Jett is there to protect her, but he isn’t her savior and is determined to break her.

There is so much happening in this story. It is actually pretty long and has a few unexpected twists. I enjoyed the story and the connection between Jett and Ebony. It was dark….not just Jett, but the mob scenes were pretty violent. I’m not sure that I can say I enjoyed it 100%, there were moments that I loved it and there were moments that I cringed at how horrible Jett was to Ebony. It was a bit complex and took some going back to figure out who was who. Overall it was a good read and there were a few of those ‘I didn’t see that coming’ moments. Turns out that Jett and Ebony are perfect for each other and their story was shocking.

Mine, Forever is the first book that I have ever read from Kate Bonham, so I had no idea what to expect. I was given the opportunity to read this as a part of Quirky Blind Date with a Book, and this book is the reason that I love QBDWAB so much! I never would have experienced this author or book had it not been for Quirky. While this isn't what I typically read, the story was really interesting to me and I am glad I took the chance on this author.

I don't really want to get into the story too much because I really think this book is one best read blind. Don't go in with any spoilers or preconceived notions because Kate Bonham will surprise you here. When Jett and Ebony meet, their attraction and connection is immediate and strong. Their world has them doing whatever it takes to get what they want, nevermind the consequences.

This book was dark and gritty, and might best be described as intense. It will have you questioning so much, and yet you won't want to put it down. I really don't feel as though I have the right words to describe this without giving too much away. It was definitely twisted and I couldn't predict what would happen or how things would go. If you are looking for something different, you might give this one a shot. It definitely isn't for the faint of heart, but if you like dark reads this one is worth taking the chance on. Kate Bonham's writing style was captivating, and I would definitely read more from her in the future.

WOW!! OH MY GOODNESS!! Where to start with this book I mean wow!! This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I will definitely be reading more. Ok let me start off by saying that this is very graphic and dark at times. So if you aren’t a fan or have triggers you don’t want to read this.

Jett Black is a sociopath that runs the city or part of it. He is ruthless and definitely doesn’t show emotions until he sees her, Ebony Cain. He finds pleasure in hurting/torturing people. And boy some of the things he does is just crazy crazy but makes the book all that more interesting.

Ebony just started working for her uncle’s restaurant as a waitress (2nd day), when all h*** breaks out. Jett takes Ebony with him and he tries to conform or mold her to be a female version of himself. But what he didn’t expect was what he got. She is definitely a perfect match for him.

Both Jett and Ebony are broken from having their childhood taken from them. The things they saw or went through was just unspeakable for a child to have to see or go through. Me heart was breaking for them.

Oh there is so much action, unexpected twists and truths that come out. I gotta read book two!!

I received this as an ARC book for my honest and voluntary review.

Well what do you get when you cross one sexy deranged man with a beautiful slightly broken woman ? Fireworks people sweltering in your face burning hot fireworks. This book was nothing like I'd ever read before . It was dark twisted violent and I couldn't stop reading it. What does that say about me ? Lol Kate Bonham is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors she writes with an appeal that brings new reader's into her web of intrigue , twisted ideas dark thoughts and a lust for pshycotic sexy Alpha men. I didn't know what to expect going in reading this book as it's not a genre I tend to read however I couldn't put it down the dark side theme's scared me a little bit at the same time it drew me in to . I look forward to reading More of Kate's books because so far there's not been one book of hers I've read that I haven't liked . She knows how to draw her audience in and keep them hanging on by the skin of their teeth.

Mine, Forever was a very interesting read. It went a little different than I originally thought it was going to go, but I was very entertained and enjoyed the book quite a bit. Ebony was the biggest surprise. She developed the most in the book, going from the emotionally and physically abused to the strongest character. Jett's plan with Ebony definitely backfired and he got more than he bargained for. A Queen for his kingdom, indeed. Jett shocked me a few times. Just when you though he was going to be the most vicious, he threw us a curve ball.

The ruthlessness of the characters drew me in and kept me on the edge of my seat. We were woven right into the web of mystery along with Jett and his criminal empire. I couldn't put the book down until the very end. A good crime drama with some very hot and heavy scenes.

Ebony and Jett

I loved this book! Ebony and Jett definitely gave me the Harley Quinn and Joker vibes!! This is book one of this series and told in first person POV by both the MMC and FMC. There are definitely some trigger warnings to check out before starting this book.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. I really thought that what Jett did to Ebony in the beginning would hinder her (although I should have known better since this is a book 🤪). Instead the take no crap, bada** bi*** that hopped into his car when he got her out quickly became one of my favorite characters.

This is the first time I have read a book by Kate, but it definitely will not be my last! Her creativity through this book has caught me hook, line and sinker and now I have to binge her books to see what else she’s come up with!
