I love Lindsay Detwiler's books. I can't get enough of them and To Say Goodbye for me is her best work until now.
This is not an easy read,it's indeed a touching and emotional story about grief, love and hope.
The clever writing made the story so real that the reader cannot not to feel invested into Sophia and Jackson's journey.
Sophia and Jackson are two broken persons, they have lost their loved ones (view spoiler)[ (one irrevocably thanks to the death, the other thanks to a judge) (hide spoiler)]

He sighed. When he talked to his mom, he always felt like he was fifteen again. Perhaps that was her goal.
We just had a beautiful moment, I talk about myself being hunky, and all you’re worried about is if I like your Crocs?
The only words that came to her were ones she would later regret. It was a comment Tim would mercilessly tease her for, would always bring up. Later, when they were in a heated argument or she was pissed at him about his socks lying on the bedroom floor, he wo ...more

This was my first read from the author and I’m beyond floored how exceptionally good it was. I don’t cry easily but this emotional, heart wrenching but lovely story prompted a couple of tears from my eyes. To say goodbye is not an easy read, nowhere near and it took quite a lot out of me but at the same time presented such a beautiful story of grief, hope and love that it worth every moment.

She just wanted to crawl in that hole with him because as far as she was concerned, her life was over too. This is not a book for someone who is looking for a surface romance, but for the reader expecting to feel emotional turmoil - such as grief, and how to move on, despite it all. It is a story that does give hope, but not until those serious issues are addressed, and n ...more
It's not exactly a light read because of the topic it deals with (the loss of a loved one, and no, this isn't a spoiler), but some things could have been fast forwarded a bit while others should have been a bit slower.
Either way, is a good story.
I love Sophia and Jackson but Stella is definitely my favorite character. This book made me feel a rainbow of emotions, and although it was definitely a long roller coaster ride I enjoyed it so much.
I only gave this 4 stars because of the waffling, I can't understand the grief and feelings Sophia experienced but at some point I just wanted to strangle her myself. I'm all for making the characters work for love but this was almost torture!

When your significant other dies, you can grieve and move on or you can drown in your sorrow and never ever recover. Thankfully, I haven’t had my significant other pass on. I can only imagine how I would handle it. I hope that I handle it as well as the character in the book. I am fairly certain that I squealed with delight w ...more

What a wonderful story of tragedy and the love that can be found afterwards. I loved the style of writing from this author. It was captivating and kept me intrigued the whole time. I was kept on my toes, I just couldn't wait to see what was going to happen. I loved all the emotions I was able to feel while reading. I love any book that can captivate me and make me feel. I would definitely recommend this one.

I like to focus more on the new budding romance rather than see the heroine wallow in grief. It get a little too martyr-ish for me at times. I'd rather time gaps to fill me in on the grief rather than read about it for 60% of the book.
I skimmed a lot with this one. I didn't care for the flashback scenes from either character.
I'm sure a lot of people will love this and be emotional with a lot of this but it take a lot for me to cry for a MC, I have to be totally into them ...more
