Farewell #1

Farewell, my Loves

Rate this book
Love.
Passion.
Obsession.

There was no way to distinguish one from the other in my life.
Nothing in this world could destroy a bond as fierce as ours.

Or so I believed…

Because life interfered.
Impulsive decisions, reaped unyielding consequences.
Fate had a way of making you question your sanity.
Loyalties were blurred.
Priorities, poisoned.
And destiny… destiny dispelled all our beliefs.

In the end love was just too consuming.

Tragic even.

Without a doubt, love... crossed many unfathomable lines.

There's nothing Jen loves more than the 'beauty of doing nothing', though you'll find her devouring a book in bliss if she’s not lost in her world of writing.
This Colombian- Italian descendant loves her pasta, espresso, wine and empanadas, and there isn't a dessert she can say no to.
Her stories have pieces of her edgy heart woven secretly between the pages and at the core of most of them is the essence of a true story.
Inspiration comes to her mostly through melancholy music and morbid family sagas, but random occurrences like a good night's sleep can do wonders for her imagination.

This debut novel just came through and hit me like a tornado, leaving my mind and my heart battered and broken, and I'm still trying to pick up the pieces the destruction it left in it's wake. Farewell, my Loves just hurled itself way above almost every other book I've read this year and is no doubt one of my favorites of 2016. It also earned itself a spot high up on my list of all-time favorites as well. I am utterly wrecked and I loved every second of this book!!!

What is Farewell, my Loves about? Childhood sweethearts. Italian culture. Sweeping romance. Lies. Deceit. Betrayal. Revenge. I won't give any details away about the plot - go in blind and let the story sweep you away. Jen Tirone's writing is fantastic, I could not believe that this was not only her debut, but also that book is largely based on the events of her grandparents. The book begins in the rolling hills of Salerno, Italy and is the story of childhood friends Gia and Gio. We follow their story from childhood through adulthood, from Italy to New York. Their story is gritty and ugly and it is going to take me a long, long time to recover from this one! I'll need to elaborate some more when I can come up with more to say. For now I will just say Jen Tirone, you are a ROCKSTAR and you have gained one hell of a devoted fan in me! I cannot wait to see what you bring us in the future!

Farewell, my Loves is a story that was inspire by an actual true story. One that isn't very pretty. I think that's what I love about it so much. That even though the real story is very heartbreaking, FML gives you hope for what could have happened, how certain situations could have played out, but I must warn you, it's still very heartbreaking. I was able to see the early stages of this book, of how hard Tirone worked to see it flourish into the masterpiece that it is now.

My emotions while reading this book we're all over the place. I started off loving each character to hating them at some point throughout the story. I felt the love between Gio and Gia while they were kids as well as when they were adults, but I also felt the hatred that developed with each chapter that passed. They were characters that had flaws and didn't know any better, at least that's my opinion.
That's one thing I loved about Tirone's writing, she actually made me feel love and hate toward fictional characters as if they were real, and maybe in this case they were.

Farewell, my Loves is an epic love story that will leave you breathless and devastated all at once. You may want to keep your tissues close by and the authors page open, you're going to want to talk about your feelings when your done as well as demand answers.

You've been warned.

What an amazing debut novel. Congratulations to Jen Tirone on this story that encompasses so much love, nostalgia, loss, tragedy and hope. I want to say so many things but I just really can't because I just finished reading the book and I don't want my emotions to spoil one single thing for others. This is a book to go in blind to experience everything as you read. Looking forward to the next book.

I have no idea how to put into words how much I loved this book. My heart is still battered and torn from this one. I am still half speechless with the heartbreak from this one. WOW Miss Tirone...JUST WOW!!!

From the day Gianna was born she has always been the bambina of two best friend families the Vitales and the Morettis. From day one, at the young age of 4, Giorgio Moretti claimed Gianna as his own. They were destined to be together forever. No one would come between them, not even the miles between Italy and America.

"Giorgio would probably lasso the sun just for me. And because he was always anticipating the next step ahead, he'd already have the moon in his hands waiting to shine it on me, too, should I care for it."

When Giorgio was 15, his family moved to the United States in search of the better life. Leaving behind a heart broken Gia to live the life the she though would always be them together. Giorgio promised Gia he would be back for her. They would never be apart.

After 6 years passes, Gio kept his promise and came back to claim his heart once and for all. Gianna and Giorgio were finally able to be together, forever. Being the naive 17 year old. Gia had no idea together forever meant marriage that moment. Her life as she knew was about to change for what she hoped would be the dream of a lifetime.

"You look at me with so much love and the way you are looking at me now, that doe-eyed innocence veiled with need, you charm me, bella. The adoration in your eyes crowns me king, and no one else could ever bestow me with so much in just a look, that my queen."

 photo loves_zpsl1rdetqs.jpg

Marrying Giorgio and coming to America was filled with excitement and amazing love until Gia see something she should have never seen. The love filled eyes she adored Gio with were forever changed with darkness and heart break.

Trying to work through the evil Gia saw, she also realizes she needs to do things for herself which leads her right onto the path of Michael. The attraction is instant and sparks she's only ever had for Gio fly and she knows deep down, evil will overtake any good that comes from knowing Michael.

“I'm going to keep as far away from this handsome trouble of a man, as I can.”

She has no choice but to cut all chances of ever being around Michael. Until one fateful day several years later, Michael and Gia come face to face and the sparks never died. They both know it but Michael finds out that one person his heart has always belonged to is the wife of the a Moretti, one of New Yorks crime bosses, the one man Michael despises as a detective that Moretti has tried to pay off several times.

Nothing good will ever come of this union. Loving two men, the evil and good, is never a win win for anyone.

"We will never be done Gianna. You are mine....mine, until the day we die."

Just writing this review twisted my heart again. This book will forever stay with me. I sigh just thinking of the shattering words this author told her story with.

This book destroyed me! I’ve read it twice and I already can’t wait to read it again. Thank the stars I was lucky enough to be a beta reader, so I have seen this book grow from a little baby to a full grown adult. They grow up so fast. Thanks Jen for trusting me with your book!
I will not give too much away because I believe you should read this book without knowing the story. I will warn you, your emotions will be all over the place. You will feel the butterflies that come with a first love, the heartbreak, the anger, confusion, hope, more love and more heartbreak. Just when I thought I was emotionally drained, another emotion would punch me in the heart.
This is a romance set around the 1940s that follows the very interesting life of Gio and Gia. You will remember these characters long after you read about them, their story is an unforgettable one. Also this book is inspired by true events which makes it much more heartbreaking to read.

HOLY COWBELLS! THIS BOOK!!!!!

It's not very often that a book comes along that leaves me speechless, breathless and totally hungover.

Farewell, My Loves left me feeling all of that and so much more.

Jen Tirone's debut novel is absolutely unique, captivating and totally unputdownable.

This is an EPIC love story spanning two decades. Beginning in Salerno, Italy in 1941 and moving to the bright lights of The Big Apple, this story will take you on an unforgettable journey that will leave you stunned.

And what's even more incredible is that it's based on a true story that is very close to the author's heart, and this shines through every single page.

Please read this incredible debut novel.
It really is a MUST READ!

This book was EVERYTHING. I give it 100 shining stars. What a beautiful and emotional journey with true life events in which Jen Tirone wrote her heart & soul in it and was brilliant.
I was in love with Gia, Gio and Michael the entire time. I was torn between the two men because they loved Gia so much.
I yelled, screamed and cried. My heart still hurts but loved every single chapter of this book. I still can't believe it happened this way.
It's a must read.

Oh this book. I honestly do not know if I can accurately put into words the feels that I have felt in this book. Jen did an amazing job bringing the characters to life. She brings the reader in and makes them feel everything at varying times and degrees. The heart and soul of this book are visible in every page and chapter and I for one cannot wait to read any and everything Jen Tirone puts out into the world. While I cannot give spoilers (you should know better people) I will say that you should prepare yourself for the emotional roller coaster that is Farewell, My Loves and the evil genius of Jen Tirone. This book is without a doubt perfect! I have read it a minimum of two and a half times give or take and every single time I feel everything just like it was the first time. If you are unsure whether or not you should read this book- do it! You will not regret it!

4-4.5 stars.

Tragic. That pretty much sums up this story, very tragic.

The blurb is a little vague (on purpose?) and the story dishes out a lot of heavy topics to the reader.

Gianna and Gio seemed destined to be together the day Gia was born. Gio claimed her. Gio adored Gianna but the Gio she loved was only part of the man she grew to know. The book spans the two lovers lifetimes, starting in Italy and then moving to America. Secrets, infidelity, abuse, illegal acts, violence, this book has it all in spades. Based on true events it was an addictive read with an ending I did not predict. Good debut for this author!

I finished this book a little over two weeks ago and my mind is still coming to terms with it… This book is inspired by a true story; a real love story. This type of love, passion, and obsession is very real and all-consuming.

My love for this book was all-consuming. There were so many aspects to it that I found interesting, unique in their own way, and fascinating. Gia was an immigrant in a foreign country and forced to learn her way with limited resources. The mannerisms and characteristics that were forced upon her, against her will to keep up with appearances, weren’t her at all. You could pick up on her hesitation and frustration. I rolled my eyes so many times at the Mother-in-law from Hell. Fuck off, lady.

It was blatantly obvious what Gio did for work; why he had to leave Italy when Gia was a child. He came back for her, he made a promise after all, but he took her back to a lifestyle she knew nothing about. She questioned him about it, wanting to know more, but he tried to keep her away from the blind reality of that life. It was unfair to Gia and was painful to watch her break on the inside.

THE END OF THIS BOOK. GOOD FUCKING LORD! I was shattered. Devastated and in shock… Thank god I’m still young or I would have had a coronary.

As soon as I finished this book, I joined the spoiler group and learned more of the REAL story behind these characters. *Queue more mind racing* I definitely recommend joining the group ONCE YOU’VE READ THE BOOK to discover more about the real history that inspired this book. It’s fascinating…

This tragically beautiful tale was fascinating on so many levels. The love interest, being an immigrant in a new country, being blind to what’s right in front of you and ignoring the hints… It all made for an incredible tale that I couldn’t put down. A new favorite of 2017 from a new-to-me author. Bravo, Jen!

Have you ever come across a book that just blows you away?? That just knocks you off your butt and leaves you in awe of the author and how they were able to transport you into a book? This book for me was Farewell, my Loves. OH MY LORD! This book. It's everything. It's why I read! It's why I love the escape from reality that I get while I read. The words just jumped off the pages and I could so vividly see the story come to life! I could so see this up on the big screen. There are several scenes in my head that I see in clear perfect vision. It's quite amazing. This is my diamond in the rough gem of a book for this year. Ms Tirone is a debut author and I'm BLOWN AWAY at her ability for being a newbie. I would have thought she was a seasoned writer. She has quickly barreled her way into my world and I will forever be stalking err... following her faithfully. She gave me everything! Angst, check. Heartbreak, check. Epic love, check. An unforgettable story, check. If you read one book by the end of the year, THIS HAS TO BE IT! This was a HUGE HUGE HUGE 5 star read and this will be on my best of 2016 list!

Gio and Gia, sigh.... They were destined to be together forever. They were supposed to have an epic love. They were inseparable in their small Sicilian town. They were each others best friends growing up and their families had were like family. It made sense they were destined to be husband and wife. But when Gio left for the United States, he left Gia behind. She was devastated. Gio was her world. Years would go by, letters would be exchanged fewer and fewer by the year until the day Gio returned for his Gia. It was like finally they would get their happily ever after. But Gio wasn't there to stay, he was there to take Gia back to the United States were they would start their family.

Gia wasn't sure what Gio did for a living. She knew he ran business but one night she was witness to his dealing and it would forever change her. Being a wife to a notorious mobster was not what Gia had in mind when she was going up in Sicily. But she loved Gio with all her heart and learned to turn a blind eye to his business. Until she could no longer.

I'm going to stop there because I really don't want to spoil their story. ITS EPIC! EPIC I TELL YOU! I finished this book days ago and sitting here reliving their story makes me emotional. I was very close to tears several times and those emotions are again stirred as I'm writing this. This is a book that needs to be read! This is a book that needs to be shared with your friends. THIS IS JUST ONE OF THOSE BOOKS YOU CANNOT GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD!!! I hope you take a chance on this debut author and fall in love with this book as I did.

Farewell, My Loves is the debut novel by Author Jen Tirone. It is romantic suspense, ugly cry novel.

“The adoration in your eyes crowns me king, and no one else could ever bestow me with so much in just a look, than my queen.”

Gia and Gio. Their closeness in life was comparable to the minute change in spelling of their nicknames. Just one letter off and the two would be exactly one. Being only four years apart, these two were inseparable, finding kinship, infatuation, and a promise for a future.

“If I wanted the shade in a treeless, sunny field, Giorgio would probably lasso the sun just for me. And because he was always anticipating the next step ahead, he’d already have the moon in his hand waiting to shine it on me too, should I care for it.”

I was swept away into the pages of Farewell, My Loves. Inspired by a true story, it was an intoxicating mix of old-fashioned love and romance, creating an air of nostalgia for a time long passed. However, nestled within its pages was a pungent air of lies, betrayal, and unease.

"...love was unfair; it's been destructive. Love has only created despair for me."

Author Jen Tirone transported us to the newly-developing hustle and bustle of New York, calling to mind famous people, places, and novel developments of the era. Infused in this mix was the ever-lurking presence of the Italian mob, which flavored the entire story, twisting even the beautiful into something less desirable.

"...the vows we made before our families and under the presence of God were for better or worse. It seemed I was going to have to learn to live with the reality that it wasn't just one way, but both."

There were subtle, yet critical, shifts throughout the story, especially in regards to the evolution of the hero and heroine. My heart broke for Gio and Gia time and again, the mounting devastation of a life that was unrecognizable to the once so innocent young girl and devilishly handsome and charming young man, leaving Gia to turn to others for support and comfort.

“I wanted to love him and I wanted it to transcend for us through every moment we wouldn’t get to love each other the way we should.”

To say that Farewell, My Loves destroyed me would be putting it mildly; this story was not always hearts and rainbows. It was beautifully ugly. Heartbreakingly stunning. Intoxicating. Captivating. Hypnotic. A superb debut novel.

"I wish I could have you, in this, and every other lifetime. I wish it with every part of me."

4-4.5 stars. While the title is slightly ominous and this is labelled as a "romantic suspense," the cover and the blurb definitely give very little away, so it was quite a surprise to discover the real story revealed inside. It starts out innocent enough, but is far from light-hearted and sweet. I don't want to spoil anything since that is likely the author's intent, but if you are a reader that likes to know what you are getting into as far as serious content goes, I suggest skimming the reviews beforehand.

Gio and Gia have a history that goes way back to Gia's birth and from there, they were inseparable, best friends blossoming towards first love until Gio leaves Italy to move to America. Years later, Gio comes back to Italy to bring Gia to America with him. I definitely had the same concerns as Gia and understood that at her young age, she was still relatively naive and easily influenced by others. And in the years apart, Gio has lived a life completely different than Gia. The new country and adulthood has really changed him, or has it? Rather, is Gio now the man that he was always meant to be? How does Gia fit into all of this and once she discovers the truth, what can she do about it? Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place.

There's a constant feeling of foreboding in this story and while I admit that it didn't happen in the way I initially expected, the feeling never goes away. And although it starts slow, once the story begins to ramp up, I was on edge the rest of the way, just waiting for the shoe to drop. And it does. Multiple times. Amongst all of the angst, drama, tragedy, dread and forbidden aspects, there are some truly sweet and happy moments that give Gia a taste of what it really feels like to live and I really wished she could cling on to those more. My favorite character was Michael, likely because he was the most positive aspect of the story and a representation of true goodness. Farewell, My Loves is loaded with heavy feels, and without giving anything away about the ending, all I can is that I simply did not expect that. And did you know this was inspired by a true story? Seriously, wow, talk about passion! Definitely an engaging and riveting read and looking forward to more by this author.

***ARC PROVIDED BY AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW***

Writing: Great
Violence: Graphic
Sex: Explicit
Narration: 1st Person, same narrator throughout story

Farewell, My Loves by Jen Tirone is a heartbreaking story of fated love based on a true story. Gianna, born in the early 1940’s into a traditional Italian family, is adored from the minute she enters this world. Her family’s closest friends, the Moretti’s, adore her just as if she were their own, especially their four year old son, Giorgio. Cementing a bond that would last a lifetime, Gio dotes on Gia from the time she is born. Their friendship grows with them; Gio always looking out for Gia and Gia never leaving his side. That they would one day be married was a given to their families.

When Gio is forced to immigrate to America with his father, Gia is heartbroken but vows they will one day be together again.

Several years later, Gio returns to marry Gia and bring her to America. With hearts and flowers in her young eyes, Gia follows to begin her new life. But Gia isn’t prepared for all of the changes and she struggles with the dreams she envisioned and the reality of her future. Will Gio and Gia’s love sustain them through all of their struggles and danger that seems to be everywhere?

This book was breathtaking, amazing, phenomenal, stunning; I could go on and on. I had such a visceral reaction to this book and still find it on my mind hours later. I do not anticipate forgetting about this story for a long time to come. Farewell, My Loves takes the reader through immense joy and shattering heartbreak all in 25 chapters. Ms. Tirone did a spectacular job of pulling emotion out of the reader, which is a spectacular gift for any author. Read this book. You won’t be disappointed…just make sure to grab the Kleenex.

If I could give Farewell, My Loves all the stars in the sky I would, but I am limited to 5. Jen Tirone, you earned every single one. I am definitely looking forward to all of your future works!

What can I not say about this book! I experienced every emotion possible. From laughing to crying (and it takes A LOT for me to cry), to getting angry, getting disappointed with some of the characters, going back in forth with loving and hating them! (I will not spoil, well to a certain extent).

I love love love Gia. She is so innocent and naive as a child and young adult. She pretty much grows up over night when reality hits her hard. Fu**ing hard.
As an adult she is a pistol but still carries her young self with her at times. She makes you fall in love with her. I want to be her best friend.

Gio. Well he's Gio. He makes the story but I'm not a big fan. He robbed Gia from her life. All I'm going to say is... When an Italian is part of the mafia..... life will be very challenging. He truly does loves Gia. But he is very selfish about it!

Micheal! He is the bomb. He doesn't give a flying F about Gio. He doesn't care who, what, where how! He is a smart ass, charming, loving, charismatic. He is the package!

I can sincerely tell you this book is worth ready. It will give you a rush of suspense, making you eager to know what's to come! I couldn't get enough of it.

I can't get over the fact that this book was written by a new author. The story line was absolutely perfect! I felt like I was reading a book published by a well known author. And trust me I've had my share of books. This one is definitely one of them! The ending just topped it off. It ended perfect but.......it makes you want more!! I can't spoil the end!

I was intrigued by the story line of this novel, it was a romance drama based on a true story. As soon as you start reading the epilogue you get sucked in, you get a taste of what is to come but want to know why, how did they get there?!

Gia- she was my favorite throughout she was a strong woman who you could relate to. I could never bring myself to hate or judge her because throughout the book she always reasoned with herself to try and do the right thing and who of us has not came to cross road where we are trying to do the right thing but temptation just does not go easily.

Gio- he had his moments with me, I hated him and then I cared for him (not loved) he was a good man and had good intentions but I've never been one to like "machista" men. His character always kept me very intrigued and couldn't wait to know what he would do next.

Michael- now he was one that I LOVED he was lovable, honest, strong, persistent and a bit cocky sometimes but who doesn't love some confidence. He will win you over and you will root for this man.

Many characters I've left out because I do not want to spoil a single thing for those who have not read it. In all this book made me smile, hate, cry and LAUGH alot! It made a special place in my heart. GREAT READ!!!

This debut novel by Jen Tirone is one of those books that will be appearing on everyone's top reads lists for sure! What begins as a idyllic story of two children in Italy, who seem destined to be together, ends up being a heart wrenching story about the tragedy of loathing the life you have and knowing there's no way out of it with your heart and life intact. The author weaves throughout the story the cruelty of the mafia life as it affects those entrenched in it. Jen Tirone poetically shatters the naivety of that dreamlike vision of love that exists in our youth with the harsh reality of disillusionment and acceptance. As her characters evolve throughout the story, we see firsthand how obligation, loyalty, fear and regret play a role in their lives. The struggles of these characters are truly the hidden gems in this story. The reality of human emotions, consequences of acting upon them, and the delicate balance of right and wrong all pave the way for the inescapable truth of the lives they have lived. I highly recommend this book and I am really looking forward to more from this very talented author!

I'm a bookworm it's just a fact of my life. I will try different authors all the time I don't think a reader should be stuck in one genre. The love of reading comes from the ability to explore different worlds . The novel Farewell My Loves by Jen Tirone is exceptional. Not only am I blown away by this being a doubt novel. I am blown away at the complexities it explores in human life. This novel is the perfect demonstration of the fact that the world we live in is not just black or white or even gray book full of color and we have to catch the moments that are thrown our way. I'm not one to make demands, but if I could demand you I would demand you to read this book. It's a leap of faith you won't regret.

5 Emotional Stars - Wow what a fantastic debut novel! I could have read this book in one sitting it was so good but life gets in the way. The story starts in Italy in 1941 when Gianna and Giorgio are children and takes you through to adult hood in New York City. My emotions were all over the place reading this book. Just a warning, there are a number of heavy topics this book touches on. Farewell My Loves is an epic love story which gave me a book hangover for days after I finished it. This will definitely be a book a will reread over and over again. Based on true events, this book was addictive read which took my breath away. Congratulations Jen Tirone I cannot wait to see what else this Author come up with next (no pressure lol).

Let me just start out by saying you are going to need a big box of tissues with this book! I’m not a crier but I cried at the ending of this story. And when you factor in that this is based on a true story it makes it that much sadder.
The story starts out in a small town in Italy where Gio and Gia’s families have been friends for centuries so when Gia is born Gio is immediately fascinated with this beautiful baby girl and the families begin thinking how wonderful it would be if they grew up to get married. The two children weren’t exactly pushed together but it wasn’t frowned upon either when they wanted to spend every waking moment together. Gio tells everyone that one day he will marry Gia and Gia thinks that Gio hung the moon. Gio’s father goes to prison when Gio is very young because of some sly business dealings and when he is let out he decides to move his family to New York to start over. Gio and Gia are devastated but Gio vows that he will do everything he can to get back to Gia as soon as he can. Years pass before the two see each other again but Gia remains faithful to the promise she made to Gio to wait for him. Gio finally returns and marries Gia and takes her back to New York with him. He has become very wealthy and can give her everything she ever wanted. Being young and naïve she doesn’t question where the money comes from until one night she walks in on Gio beating up a man who owes him money. She realizes then that Gio and his family are part of the Italian Mafia in New York. She begins to resent Gio and while he still treats her well he becomes very controlling towards her.
Gia begins to become more and more withdrawn until she meets a girl her own age at her English classes at the library. The two become instant friends and just when Gia thinks everything will be okay she meets her friend’s brother Michael. Gia has always known she loved Gio but she has never felt anything like the attraction she feels for Michael. It is truly love at first sight and Michael begins to feel the same.
Will Gia be abel to remain true to Gio now that she knows what he truly is? Will she be able to stay away from Michael even though it seems that fate has brought them together? Will Gio put the mafia before his family with Gia?
This is such a tragic story of love and loss it will stick with you long after you finish the book. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Farewell, my Loves is a book that will stretch your emotions more than you can imagine. Stretch them to the point of breaking more than once or twice while reading. Jen Tirone simply took my breath away with this story. And to know this story was inspired by true events made it all that much more emotional.

I could picture Gio and Gia as plain as day as I was reading. How they've known each other since the day Gia was born, how they grew up together glued at the hip. I imagined the Amalfi coast and Salerno in my mind while reading the descriptive way Jen talks of the childhood homes of these two characters. And the emotion and heartbreak they feel when Gio moves to the US with his family to start a new life.

I don't want to discuss too much of the storyline because everyone needs to go into this book blind. All I can say is that for this being Jen's first book, it is a perfect combination of brilliant writing, an emotionally charged rollercoaster of a ride, and a heart rending tale that made me feel sadness beyond compare but unending love at the same time. It made me question my sanity that I was absolutely loving a book that made me bawl ugly tears but I couldn't stop reading.

I want to shout to the world that everyone should read this book. Such a heartbreakingly beautiful story. I can't wait to see what Jen has in store for us in future books.

This book is devastatingly beautiful. The fact that it's inspired by a real story made it so much more compelling. I feel utterly speechless. Ok...breathe...

I've read other reviews and everyone is vague. As well as the blurb. For good reason. This book needs to be read and savored without spoilers. It's worth it. And it will blow you away.

This is a guts wrenching, heart twisting, tale of love's ups and downs and how real life can change you.

I will admit I had a hard time with the first couple chapters(while they are in Italy). There are a lot of Italian words I didn't understand, even tho they were explained. It broke up a lot of the reading flow IMO. But having finished the book, I'm grateful for those first chapters and the depth of the childhood relationship we experience.

This book kept me questioning my own morals and my hope's for these characters. I was a mess of emotions during this read. So to say it was angsty would be an understatement.

This book is spectacular. It's a book that demands to be read and remembered. I cannot wait to read what this author writes next. My soul needs it!

4.5 Heart Stopping Stars!
What a fantastic debut. Ms. Tirone is now on my radar. I can not wait to see what she writes next. I am totally impressed!

I loved Farewell, my loves. I had heard all wonderful things about it. So I was excited to finally be able to read it. I went into it completely blind without even reading the synopsis. DAMN. I had no idea what I was in store for.... My poor heart was brought on one emotionally charged ride! It started off a bit slow and extremely sweet. While I was enjoying the innocence and tenderness of Gio & Gianna my guard was down. Bad move on my part because before I knew it, everything started snowballing and spiralling... It picked up the pace and was unrelenting till the bitter end! Leaving me awestruck and emotionally scarred. Farewell, my loves is a book that will stay with me foever. READ IT. TRUST ME.

This book absolutely blew me away. I was completely sucked in from just reading the blurb. It was different and catching and I knew I had to read it. I was not disappointed this book was an amazing and tragic story about epic love. Can you have two soul mates? I think so this book makes you question if it is possible to love two men at the same time. This story was unlike anything I've ever read and because it was based off of a true story it made it even better.
I loved this book so much and cannot wait to see what this author gives us next.

Works best if you go in blind!

This book started slowly for me and it took me a little bit to get excited by the characters. I was only working on 3 or 4 stars most of the way through but when it took a turn that I wasn't expecting the extra star came for bravery. Stick with this book if you find it a little slow at the start.... It's worth it. I'm not giving anything away. Great debut and I'll be looking for more of this author's work!
