On 9 October 1967, Ernesto Che Guevara, Marxist guerrilla leader and hero of the Cuban Revolution, was captured and executed by Bolivian forces. When the Guevara family learned from the front pages that Che was dead, they decided to say nothing. Fifty years on, his younger brother, Juan Martin, breaks the silence to narrate his intimate memories and share with us his views ...more

I was never too interested in the history of South America, but when I realized there was a book written by Che’s little brother, I thought “what better way to know how he was as a person?”. His brother portrays the most honest person you can imagine in this book. We still get a first hand narrative about Argentina’s oppressive justice system and the difficulties the Guevara family had to endure. Makes me feel grateful for being born where and when I was.

“Evimiz kitap dolu. Hepimiz edebiyat, felsefe ve kültür sanatla meşgulüz. Her şeyimiz eksik olabilir, etrafımızdaki her şey bozulabilir, borular tıkanabilir vs. Kimsenin ruhu bile duymaz. Daha önce okudukları kitaplardan birini ok ...more

A rare if unique account of Ernesto (Che) Guevara from a member of his immediate family. After his murder in 1967 by the Bolivian Army his family kept their silence on Che, his life and how they felt about his death. Letters have been released, friends have spoken of him but no one from his family in Argentina has said much which is why this book is fascinating and heart felt and illuminating.

There isn't anything revealed as such that hasn't been mentioned elsewhere but Juan Martin's personal m

Shelves: my-best

Very passionate tale about a very famous brother. I do not recommend it for a reader, who wants to know details of Ernesto Guevara's life, I recommend a systematic biography - Che Guevara: A Revolutionary life - by Jon L. Anderson.
This book shows the inside of very eccentric Guevara family and a reader may wonder - how much it influenced the life of one specific family members.
Story is very passionate and I was sometimes bored a bit by pages and pages of adjectives, but with not much essence. O

"Che, My Brother" provides yet another splendid layer, toward an understanding of Ernesto "Che" Guevara's life and activism and politics in South America and Cuba. Che's brother, Juan, says he wrote this book in part to write about their father; so many stories about his brother included information about their mother, but little about him. I'd recommend this book for anyone interested in Guevara and a deeper understanding of the man.

This was the first book I ever won through a Goodreads' Giveaw

The title is what attracted my attention in subsequently reading this moving book. The perspective from a sibling and the intimate details of Che’s life was insightful. I found the book educational, inspiring, and reflective. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
