Born with a silver spoon in her mouth, Manhattan upper-cruster Cecily Sinclair now uses that pricey utensil to dish up fancy French fare on her cooking show, Serving Romance. When there’s an executive shake-up at the network, she’s not worried. Not much anyway. Her show’s a hit after all. Why would the new CEO want to mess with success?

After enjoying Twin Piques last year, I was ready to dig in to Tracie Banister's new foodie fiction story. She has impressed me once again with her humor, genuine dialogue, and plenty of twists to keep me guessing.

I had such a fun time reading this story. Cecily was such a dynamic character throughout and I loved her interactions with everyone else in the story, from her astrologist best friend/cousin to her on-screen nemesis, the ever-so-sexy Dante Marchetti, to her snobby socialite grandmother

Cooking shows are always something I enjoy watching and I like to think I’m a bit of a foodie, so when I saw that Tracie Banister’s latest book centered around a chef, I just knew I had to read it! I was thrilled when Tracie sent me an ARC and I’m so happy to report that I LOVED every minute of my time spent with the characters in Mixing It Up.

Let’s talk characters first, because this one is full of entertaining and hilarious people. Cecily is a classically tra

Fans of delicious food and light Rom-Com will enjoy this new book from Tracy Banister which features Cecily Sinclair - a Cordon Bleu-trained chef who is from NYC's upper crust and hosts her own TV cooking show. Add in some romantic tension, a handful of suitors, a dollop of family discord; lightly stir and you have Mixing It Up.

What I liked:
The stars of the show for me were the wonderfully delicious descriptions of food from French and Italian cuisine. Oh m'gravy! As a Foodie myself I can assure

What a fun foodie romantic comedy! I'm usually not one to read books with any sort of cooking theme because I tend to lose interest.
But this was a great read! Who doesn't love a love triangle that involved a handsome guy, gorgeous girl and a TV show about cooking?
Cecily has had her own beloved show for years and then a younger executive takes over and wants to spice things up!
Cecily wants NO part of it! But...she wants to keep her job...does she really have a choice? How bad can it be?

Tracie Banister concocts a deliciously funny story in her latest novel, Mixing It Up. Fans of chick lit novels, witty dialogue, and endearing characters need to pick up this novel! It is filled to the brim with amazing characters, a fun and engaging plot, and some downright hilarious interactions between the characters. I also love how passionate our heroine is about food. I'm running hot and cold with the author's books. I loved Twin Piques and this one came a close second, the other two didn't hold this much feeling though. Mixing it up combines a wonderful set of elements of a modern romantic comedy and spins it on its head! You were given not one, not two but three prospective male leads and yet the focus never wavers away from what Cecily is passionate about, her love for food and her career! That was admirable.

Cecily was a perfect Scorpio, I thi

Mixing It Up is the first book I have read by Tracie Banister but I'm fairly sure it won't be the last. Before I go into how much I really enjoyed the story, I do need to give you a friendly warning - make sure you have plenty of food around to eat while you are reading this, it will make you hungry especially in the first half of the book.

To give you an idea the opening is a description of a delicious sounding Coq au Vin, that I would have loved to eat myself, and a large part of the b

I have read Tracie’s first two novels; they have actually been one of my first one as a real book blogger. Anyway, I really adored them both, so I was really excited when Tracie asked me to read and review this.

This story follows Cecily Sinclair who’s a chef and works at a TV network. She is really passionate about food and cooking, but is somehow not doing what she really wants to in her life (I won’t say more here ;)). She knows wha

Tracie Banister has long been one of my favorite authors. She knows just how to peak my interest, appeal to my senses and charm me all the way to the end of the book! In Mixing It Up, we meet Cecily Sinclair, a brilliant woman who has hit her stride as the host of a cooking show which values ambiance and relationships as a compliment to delicious French food. As the title tells us, things in Cecily's previously well-ordered world are about to meet with a bit of chaos. Big changes for her TV netw ...more

Very fun read! I already suspected I would love this book because I was a huge fan of Tracie Banister's TWIN PIQUES, and MIXING IT UP did not disappoint. As always, Banister fills her story with fun, flawed and lovable characters who are so relatable. I loved Dina and her astrological predictions. (Side note: I absolutely loved that even though she came across as a little flighty, her profession and beliefs are never mocked or used for comic relief.) Cecily's passion for food and her show made h ...more

My god, what a fiery, sexy, passionate & sensual read 'Mixing It Up' by Tracie Banister turned out to be! I think my senses are still settling down after being set alight by Banister and her divine foodie descriptions within this novel, not forgetting the scorching moments of chemistry that licked the pages throughout. Not only did I utterly adore the premise of this novel (avid food-channel watcher, here!), but the amount of fun I had while reading this book really knew no bounds. From firs ...more

I want to start this review by saying... why have I not heard of this author before?!?! I really liked this book, and I am grateful to Tracie Banister for allowing me to be involved in the world of Cecily (et amis!). Tracie is such a detailed author, if she hasn't trained as a cordon bleu chef then she certainly has done her research. The main character, Cecily, is a chef dedicated to French Cuisine and is currently working on a TV show on a well-known Food Channel. Her career takes an unexpecte ...more

It took me a little while to get into Mixing It Up as I didn't instantly warm to the main character of Cecily Sinclair, but there are so many other colourful characters that it wasn't long before I found that I was really enjoying it.

Cecily doesn't really need to work as her family are super-rich, but Cecily has a passion and flair for cooking; something her Grandmother looks down her nose at. Cecily is the star of a TV cooking show, Serving Romance, but when a new CEO joins the station he bring

What a foxy and sparkly read! I had sample Tracie's previous book last year, and I really enjoyed it so when I got the opportunity to read her next book I was very happy. It took me a few months to finally get to enjoy Cecily's story, but I am glad I met this determined and independent leading lady who certainly knows what she wants from her life.

From loveable quirky side characters to a storyline that surprises and delights to the sizzling romance between Cecily and Devlin, this fun, fast-paced tale will have you up all night reading. Fun to read! Cecily Sinclair is smart, funny, and even a bit naïve when outside her comfort zone. She is completely likable. I found myself laughing out loud as she dealt with her own worries as well as trying to handle her ex, her ex-boss, her new boss, and everyone else's expectations for her. I cringed along with her as she dealt with her crazy family and her pushy coworkers. A sweet, romantic, and entertaining read. Tracie Banister

A quirky romance, with attitude.
Cecily, is young, rich, and loves French food. She is also a successful cookery TV presenter, who loves her job, and enjoys giving French food that extra romantic zing. However, things are about to change for Cecily, when a new CEO comes in and wants to, yep, 'mix things up' a bit.
There are plenty of moments, when your mouth is going to water, and your taste buds long for the foods that Cecily cooks, I certainly learnt a few things from Cecily, who knew rice could

In Mixing it Up, Cecily Sinclair is living the dream — she’s a Cordon Bleu-trained chef with her own Cable TV cooking show, Serving Romance. After the network is acquired by another media conglomerate, Cecily keeps her job, but the show undergoes a major makeover as the network tries to appeal a younger audience. She’s paired with Dante Marchetti, a handsome Italian chef who knows how to play to the camera. They have history (strictly professional) and

Sparks and spatulas fly in this romantic comedy when Cecily is paired up with the egotistical Dante Marchetti.

I loved this story and all it's characters. Poor Cecily may have been born with a silver spoon in her mouth but she knows she wants on that spoon and how to create it. When she starts losing everything that is important, she seeks the advice of those closest to her, not always her best option.

Really enjoyed the connection between Cecily and Dante, you can almost feel the hatred pouring

Tracie Banister Does It Again! #5Stars!

Mixing It Up has to be one of the best books I've read this year. Tracie's ability to write realistic, complex characters and situations puts this book in the highest class of chick-lit and rom-com. I have to admit, it took me several times before I could settle down with this book. This is not a fast, happy-go-lucky read. No, this book is like watching a full-fledged, ongoing, well-written TV series: The _Entire_ Season!
