Damn good book. Karpis has a very apathetic tone but an encyclopedic knowledge of the world that surrounded him, making for a really interesting read. 'Creepy' was an apt nickname for him, he doesn't seem to care all that much about making himself seem cooler than he was. Even if you think he's lying, it's worth it for all the weird tidbits he mentions, like a prisoner who cut off his own fingers to get sent to an asylum to not be killed by other prisoners, or a man who was shot in the head but miraculously had the bullet fail to penetrate his skull.
