Margot Zemach was an American illustrator and author of children's books. Many were adaptations of folk tales from around the world - mostly Yiddish and other Eastern European stories. Zemach won the 1974 Caldecott Medal for her illustrations of the picture book "Duffy and the Devil", which was written by her husband.
What a wonderful book! I found this by complete chance at an estate sale autographed and what a treat. Great book for a creative kid or adult all about the life and creative process of Margot Zemach. I love that illustrations from her best known books find their way into this everyday story about her life and family. Plainly told but a treasure in illustration. It makes me want to do a deeper dive into her work.
