Favorite Quotes:

I took my mind off my annoyance with Nick and the physical effort of the journey by singing Christmas carols to myself, changing the words of some of them to make them more apt. The chorus of ‘Deck The Halls’ became “Fa-la-llama-la, la-llama-la,” and the first verse of ‘We Three Kings’ became “We three Kings of Les Veragnes are / Taking your furniture off in our car / Leaving you llamas and plenty of dramas / We’ll be spending your cash in a bar.” I was quite proud of those but o

The second I heard this book existed, I had a feeling I may need to read it - I mean France, Llamas, Christmas - what better combination, or at least when else will you have ever read a book featuring all three of these.

This is not the France you know, this is off the beaten track, in the middle of nowhere, with large amounts of snow, and not much in the surrounding area. And Noelle who is sent to pet sit over Christmas, was not expecting the house to be unfurnished.

She also wasn't expecting N

In a good romantic comedy, the love between the couple often grows almost unawares in the medium of another love: love for a child in need; love for animals; love for a place, such as a small town, a farm, vineyard, or homestead; love for family and the need to recover or restore relationships. Love nurtured for these things tends to overflow, and a couple fortunate enough to share a common purpose begins to see each other in it. If it is a comedy, they laugh over the mishaps, confusions, and ve ...more

I took part in a blogtour for the sequel and the opportunity to read the first one as well was given to those who wanted to. I grabbed it with both hands and I was really happy I did so after finishing the second book because it simply was hilarious.

Now I finally sat down to read book number one and it was equally funny but also had an emotional undertone.

I know I did it the wrong way and of course some things were no surprise anymore, but it did not reduce the reading pleasure one bit.

When I began reading Fa La Llama La, frankly, I was tired. I didn't know how much I'd get through that night, but I quickly got swept up in the story of poor Noelle, who had been dumped by her fiance and lost her job so she had moved back into her parents' home just in time for Christmas. By the time Noelle had agreed to pet sit some llamas, packed her car and driven across France in a worsening blizzard, I was shivering in sympathy. Dagg's word pictures took me to that darkened house in the Fre ...more

I was sorely in need of a good laugh when I started this book, and had forgotten just how much I'd enjoyed Dagg's book Haircuts, Hens and Homicides.

Fa-La-Llama-La is written in the first person from the point of view of Noelle Green, a recently dumped, suddenly unemployed and back living with her parents, young woman. Nothing seems to be going right for poor Noelle and then her cousin, Joe finds her a holiday job looking after some llamas in the middle of nowhere in a deeply snowed-in part of Fr

What a gorgeous, charming story. Uplifting and cozy (despite all the snow) and so beautifully invokes rural France at Christmas time. I couldn't put it down over an evening and afternoon of reading. And when the male protagonist found what he'd come to France looking for, I cried. Beautiful beautiful story. Just a word to the author as an Australian reader — I've never actually heard an Australian say "strewth"!

This book is perfect to read during Christmas time. It 's a sweet and romantic comedy with likeable llamas.
Noelle is not feeling Christmas spirit, she has lost her job, has left her boyfriend two months before the wedding and now lives with her parents and has lost the best grandmother in the world. Fortunately she receives a job offer in France, south of Paris. But when she comes there is a snowstorm and she finds an empty house with no light and no furniture, and with llamas in an enc

Noelle arrives in rural France, in a snowstorm, a few days before Christmas, hoping the last minute pet-sitting project will help her struggling finances. However, although the llamas waiting for her are just as lovely as her quick Internet research led her to believe they would be, nothing else is quite what she was expecting. There is no power, no water and aside from the llamas, the company, to begin with, is rather difficult. The sensible option would be to leave as quickly as the snow will ...more

Guilty-pleasure-read best served with chocolate.

Now is the time to winter-down with a good snowy novel. Christmas is coming, as it always is, and I’ve just read Fa-La-Llama-La written by my dear friend and editor Stephanie Dagg.

Tis, a story featuring Christmas, Llamas, Snow and Love. It comes with a fair dollop of mishaps and mayhem. The perfect romantic comedy. Fa-La-Llama-La is all that and more.

Written by a real life LIama-mama. ;-) I learned a great deal about Llamas, useful things like w

I shall kick things off by giving myself a 5 star review :-)
I do hope you'll enjoy this book, which is intended as enjoyable Christmassy escapism and features, in minor roles, a llama or two. Llamas don't get mentioned a lot in books, and they are wonderful animals as anyone who owns them will tell you. I therefore thought it was high time to give this fascinating branch of the camelid family a literary airing and, being a llama farmer, felt well qualified to do so.
Have a wonderful Christmas!
