That love started with a tattered romantic suspense she "borrowed" from her cousin. It was a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana, and Nana was a precocious thirteen. She's been in love with kick butt heroines ever since. With her overactive imagination, and channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before she started creating her own characters.

The Good. BBW Puerto Rican heroine, you say? Sign me up. Yes, I'm BBW and I'm Puerto Rican and I always love seeing my peeps being represented. It doesn't happen often enough, though I think the message is getting out and there are more. There are some sexy times and the story begins with great promise.
The Bad. ....and then way too many plot devices spoiled this soapy story. This felt like it was trying to be everything to everyone. There's missing siblings, surprise marriage turned into marriage of convenience, a sketchy best friend, family intrigue from all sides and too often it felt more melodramatic than necessary. I would have loved a pared down love story focusing on just Jezzie and Logan.
The beginning, where there's some fallout from their impromptu wedding was my favorite and as it was, when there was some time spent on just them, the story gelled the best, even if they both could have used a bit more character development. They hit the same emotional beats one too many times. Yes, I get it, Logan is scared of involvement and Jezzie has already been burned by him once. I just wished I had more from them than that. But I guess the external obstacles overtook everything and I lost interest, so it was fairly easy to put down.
Everything in Between. It's the fifth in the series, and I do think I could have enjoyed this a bit more if I'd read the earlier books because there's ALOT of siblings and alot of stuff going on with them that made no sense.
It was ok, but I really wanted to love it. There was just alot going on and it's not the ideal story to jump into this series with. But, I suspect if you're already a fan of this series, you may enjoy this more than I did.
I picked this up for free and I am so glad that I did I love books that have depth to them and this one has that in spades both of the characters have there problems. Logan with hi s father and the passing of his brother Felix. While Jezabel has her own heartbreak getting over the descovery thaat herr sister has died beffore she could find her again after they were adopted sepreatly. But love concers all when adversity comes a calling when Jezabel finds out that her sister isn't dead but alive and trying to extort her out of money for an non exsistant child that is suposed to be her deseased sisters child that has no one bbut when it all comes out Jezabel makes it clear that she won't get anything out of her all thanks to her brother who works for the FBI and since her sister is a wanted criminal tthere is nothing that she can do but be there if she is needed. While Logan has his own problems with his father who is keeping him in line trying to move the end goals for his trust fund one of the stipulations is that he has to stay married for at lleast 3 months which is perfect especially when Jezabel needs them to be married to get her niece but when his father has a heart attack and suddenly dies but supriseingly leaves the music buisness to him and not his brother there is more problems for the couple. really good book defiently recomend it.
The story itself is interesting and I like the two main characters. But the writing felt... choppy? Not sure that's the right word. But between the lack of flow and the grammar issues, I couldn't bring myself to finish. :(
A couple of spell check examples: past vs passed, heel vs heal.
Sometimes the way sentences were structured I wondered if Ms. Malone is a teenager? Or perhaps English is a second language?
I did note that a line editor is listed in the copyright info.
Ms. Malone, if you read this, I ask that you seriously consider getting a new editor. Your time and effort deserve more than a perfunctory automated spell & grammar check. As I said earlier, your plot and character development are pretty great. I love several of your other books and am sad that I didn't enjoy this one as much as I had hoped to.
I'm loving the Donovan series. Jezzie and Logan's story did not disappoint. Jezzie is the calm to Logan's enjoyment of life. Logan is her link to living life in the now. Case in point - Vegas.
I was not feeling Jezzie's BFF, Charlotte. Such an envious hater. Maria just damn really? Nik, Nik, Nik.... Nik and Maria would have made a great pairing. If there was ever a case for being able to choose your family this is it.
Another Free find on Amazon and for sure an author I would read again. This is a four hundred plus page book but the percentage of positive reviews I had to see for myself if they were right. I was not disappointed at all. I love large family interactions out of love, check. Family drama and mystery, check. Steamy bedroom and who knows where else, check. Alphas, check. Friend drama, check. Love and HEA, check. Nana has a gift for writing that is for sure and so refreshing. Her characters kept me reading, they are all so quirky. Now at one time these two Jezzie and Jason, a plus-size model on location and a Rockstar for a concert, and after talking with one of Jezzie’s brothers, Derek was told she was there in London and to look her up. So, on a free day for them both they decide to do all the touristy things. They have a great time but when they meet in Paris things go south. Jezzie offers her virginity and he turns her away. Crushing her nineteen-year-old heart. Now, she’s twenty-two in Vegas on location again. Finds out heart-wrenching news and doesn’t really want to party. But her evil BFF and manager are having none of that because they believe she is heartbroken over her ex who dumped her over text recently. Nope, not it. So, BFF and their manager drag her to a concert not knowing the headliner she goes. Then she sees him, she’s floored. It’s when they make eye contact and he starts to sing the song he wrote about her ‘Jezebel’ that she has to leave. They end up at the bar. When Jason goes to the same bar after the concert it’s all about Jezzie’s hurt and anger. Deep down knowing it’s a mad crush and embarrassment. For Jason, he feels an attraction but he can’t, it’s his BFF’s little sister… You will enjoy this. I will say there were times I thought, “I wish I read all the other books to understand the dynamics of all the siblings better. They are mostly adopted and you really wouldn’t know it as you are reading, they are so tight. I give this: 5++++ stars. Free on Amazon. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com.
I’ve had this sitting on my kindle for years. Yes, years. Back when it was a freebie and had since gotten lost in the hundred other Kindle freebies I have a tendency to hoard.
In a time of #StayAtHome I’ve taken to randomly clicking a freebie - honestly, they can be a bit hit and miss. No reading of the blurb or any reviews, just get right into it.
Waking up married. That’s my jizz. Enemies to lovers. Also my jizz. Big brother’s best friend. Yep! That’ll tick my boxes too.
But, there a but.
Being part of a series, it’s obvious I needed to know more about these siblings in their huge adopted family cause I had no freaking idea who was who and what they all did! So many people!!!
We have famous rock singer Logan Cross, married to famous plus-sized(?) model Jezebel Donovan. His dad’s a prick who runs the record label he works for. Her long lost sister has been found deceased but there’s a niece she wants to adopt. So, their quickie Vegas marriage will actually work in their own favours.
Too much going on - and not enough at the same time. Not enough rock god. Not enough modelling. Not enough celebrity life. What the hell happened to her BFF - that asshole Charlotte? What happened to his brother Nik? Why didn’t we ever get to hear Logan’s Jezebel song in entirety? There was just too much missing and glossed over to get too involved in this.
I did like that our hero falls first - well owns to it first. I think they always had feelings... their back and forth about not knowing one page if what they were doing was real, to then saying it was the next page only to be questioning it again the following one! That got old.
Overall I liked Logan. Not Jezzie so much. Ok. Just ok.
What an amazing story! I love quickie surprise Vegas wedding stories, and this one is one of the best. It starts with Jezzie and her brother's best friend, Logan, both in Vegas for their careers, and it quickly transitions into a marriage of convenience story when they get back home. For very different reasons, each one finds that they need to be married, so they agree to stay legally hitched until their goals are realized. But that's only the tip of the iceberg!
The reason behind each of them needing to be married is far deeper and more complicated than either one of them knows at the start. This is a complex, multi-layered story - exactly the kind of story I've come to expect from this author - and the further you get into the characters' lives, the more invested you become in the outcome. I can't say much without spoilers, but there are plenty of twists and turns, lots of suspense and danger, and a few jaw-dropping surprises along the way. The HEA is hard-fought and deeply satisfying. This story is pure escapism at its very best. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I enjoyed Eye of the Beholder, but it became very rambling in some areas. It also had a couple of twist with Jezzie and Logan's families. Sometimes the story got a little confusing. Nana Malone did a good job with the family dynamic and showing the differences. I love the Donovan family and how they had Jezzie's back no matter what. I loved how strong Jezzie is and doesn't even no it. She gives the benefit of doubt to her friend, but yet had the strength to cut her loose when it was time. I loved that Logan independence and wants to do things on his own and his way. I felt the chemistry between Logan and Jezzie. In my opinion if you have read the other Donovan Series Books then it's worth taking a look at. Just be prepared in some areas it is rambling and a little redundant.
Where do I begin? This story had premise but it just fell flat for me. Here’s why!!! How do you go from hating each other to like getting along in a instance? Then why is it both of their families are out to get them both?? I felt like the author was trying to put four different stories into one. Not to mention a mixture of genres. It was a little suspense, very little romance and then a whole a lot of sex that would qualify as erotic. It’s fine I’m no prude but when essentially every few pages is sex how does that qualify it as a story let alone a romance. Too much betrayal from families and very little organization of thoughts let alone the lack of a timeline. Just this book was all over the place.
While this is a good book, at around halfway, something lost me. I'm not 100% sure if it was the writing or the characters or a combination.
Something about the way Jezzie and Ethan started interacting felt off, as dud his internal thoughts.
The beginning I enjoyed, and their accidental wedding, but there was too much other stuff I think.
The adoption and Ethans contract were one thing, but then it was Charlotte, where the friendship just ended... There was Nik, where everything was good until he was a psycho. And I didn't get the attempted poisoning... What was the point to if not to kill him?
And in the end, Jezzie comes home to find Ethan is nearly part of the furniture, lol, but that does keep in time with what we know about her parents.

Talk about a whirlwind ... Find out your sister is dead, she has an orphaned daughter, go to Vegas for a photo shoot, run in to your brother's best friend, get drunk, get married and wake up in bed naked next to new husband.
To top it all off, you have a best friend that's the devil in disguise and a brother-in-law who wants your husband dead. And let's not forget the "dead" sister who is really alive and scamming you.
Talk about suspense and drama. I had to keep reading to see what else was going to happen. I have not read the rest of the series, but now I'm curious and will. Fabulous book.
I really hate giving books a 1 ⭐️but this book was like a poorly written soap opera. Perhaps if I’d read the other books in the series, I wouldn’t feel like the story started in the middle and never gave me the history I needed to catch up. But good series do that in every book, if necessary, in case you need a refresher or missed a book. I didn’t like any of the characters because I didn’t have enough information to form any kind of opinion about them. There was little depth. Lots of drama but little depth. I read the book yesterday and I cannot remember any of the character names except Jezzie. I don’t even care enough to go back and read the other 4 books prior to this one.
I have loved to read about the Donovan's siblings. I would like to read about the parents; how they met and managed to raise all these children and maintain their love and respect for each other, their reasons for adopting, their morals, ethics, how they have struggled to finance the children. I hope Nana Malone will give us these insights, into what a parental view in raising such a family as these wonderful adults have become. I have love to enjoy to read so much about.
I liked this book & was very engrossed for most of it. But then everything blew up & I felt that the book then lost it's way. Both characters lives imploded in very different ways & I felt that neither issue was explored properly, that both were kind of glossed over without all of the details.
I did like the build up & character development of the leads but with such a big family it was at times hard to keep all the names in order.
I probably should've read all the other books in this series first??
I enjoyed this story. I haven't read the other books in the series, and I picked everything up quickly. Jezzie and Logansport were both complex and interesting. The plot was a new take on waking up in Vegas married trope, at least one I hadn't read before. I liked that Jezzie had a great family. So many times the characters are all from bad homes and the diversity was refreshing. Just a side note, the book ended around 82% and the rest was a look at a different book. It really throws me off when I look at that.
The synopsis of this book does it justice. He had to be married for his trust fund and she needs to be married to adopt her niece. He had never known family; she has Ben looking for her sister since they were separated from foster care. She was adopted into a large family that always has each other's back. The two have conflicts and then come together more than once throughout the book. This is definitely a must-read.
Prior to reading this story I wish I had read the earlier books in the series. Although not vital to I think it may have helped me follow things a little more fully, and grasped entire concepts at the time. Still an enjoyable read. Thanks Nana.
Kindle freebie. Why did I expect any better? Ugh. Ridiculous premise but I thought maybe it would be cute and fun. Instead, it dragged on and on. At one point, I thought it must be almost done but it was only about 40% over. Not sure why I finished it, other than pure stubbornness about quitting books. This is a series and no way will I read any others.
Love story with a twist, get married by mistake then fall in love. Seems a bit of a stupid idea, but the books free so fine to read. There are two back stories that lead into family betrayal, so that gives it more depth. Could do with one more editing proof read, as there are a few mistakes.
I should have started this series with book 1.... but good thing is that you don’t need to read in order. Logan is my new book boyfriend. You can’t help but fall in love with Jez and Logan. There was so much going on in the story that it keeps you hooked in. This is the first book I have read by this author and it won’t be the last. Worth a read.
Jezzie and Logan were made for each other before they were ready to admit it. They made the mistake of getting married and ended up needing each other more than they expected. What seemed like a mutually beneficial relationship ended up being a beautiful but complicated love story.
Not as good as the others in the series. Too many baddies or unsavoury characters that quite frankly didn’t get their comeuppance. Jezzie wasn’t the most likeable character for me but just felt the storyline lacked something. I kept putting the book down unlike the others that I couldn’t stop reading.
A well-written romance with a twist of suspense that involves a sexy rocker and a curvy model. A night of fun and lots of alcohol in Vegas leads to a marriage neither wanted but instead of the planned annulment, they stay married for their own personal reasons. I thoroughly enjoyed this story.
I've been in a reading slump lately and this story gave me my "reading-mojo" back! I loved how Jezzie was a strong and bold woman. Logan was strong and fierce protector of what was his. I enjoyed the fact that they were able to reconnect and find happiness with one another (well, with some hiccups along the way)! Give this book a read if you like sweet & heartfelt romances!!
