A Chance for Us - by Jake C. Wallace, is Book 2 in the New Vampire Justice Series published by Dreamspinner Press. After reading book one I was eagerly awaiting this book to see where the story went and how far the author was going to take this series. I have to say, I am really impressed by book two in the series. This book does NOT suffer from the dreaded "sequel syndrome" it is a great story and the characters are engaging and relatable to the reader. I loved this book! It had everything I love ...more

OMG I have been looking forward to this book since I read the first one when it was first released back in 2014, and it was worth the wait!

I LOVED reading about Justin and Max...I'm a big sucker for unrequited, secret love when the other character is trying to figure things out. I loved how protective and caring Max was towards Justin right from the start. It sure took him long enough to figure out what he was feeling, and when they get together it's just *sigh* I loved it. Once Max realized hi

Preferred book 1 - too much going on with not enough focus on the MC's relationship for me

Rating: 4 stars out of 5

This was a great way to continue this series. I haven’t read the first book in a couple years, but it didn’t take long to get into the story and remember what happened in the first book. Justin is trying to learn how to live his life while dealing with everything that has happened to him, even if he doesn’t remember everything. Max is terribly confused about his feelings towards Justin, bu

It took me a lot longer to get into this book than the first one because of all the S&M scenes, which really aren't my thing. A lot of time was spent in Justin's head while he relived the pain and torture in vivid detail, and I was really dreading that his relationship with Max would be just as hardcore. Thankfully it wasn't, although Max still surprised me considering how new he was to the whole gay sex thing. :) Max and Justin gave each other exactly what they both needed and ultimately ma ...more

I just love this series, if you haven’t read the first book you really need to in order to follow along and understand everything. I usually don’t read paranormal books and on the rare occasion that I do I never feel this way about them. This book was amazing, I didn’t want to put it down and I wanted it to never end. We saw Justin in the first book and I am glad we got to see his story, I thought this book would have

I enjoyed this sequel to the Dare to Love Forever (book 1) in the New Vampire Justice series. It was hurt/comfort on steroids but I still dug it because the characters were so interesting and the I love the world that Jake Wallace built. I was fairly frustrated with Max (understandably and expected) and felt sorry for Justin but their long road to HEA was a satisfying journey nonetheless. Warning: there's a bit of a cliffhanger, NOT regarding Max and Justin's the relationship but rather the
Justin was rescued by Max on the first book in a catatonic state. no one knows what made him return to consciousness. Bye Max will do everything to keep him safe.

Seriously gripping book - can't wait for the next one!!
4.5 Stars ~ 'A Chance for Us' is book two in Jake C. Wallace's fascinating 'New Vampire Justice' series. I would recommend reading these books in order as there is extensive backstory that I believe shouldn't be missed. The author has created a fascinating world and pretty much thrown out most vampire lore. These vampires look exactly like humans except for the elongated canines that are in constant appearance, and the fact they need to supplement their diet with blood. The majority of vampires have ...more

Great Start to a excellent series

The dynamics of the story about two vampires coming together in the first to create the only type of vs vampire of its kind in 100' s of years. And the egomaniac that saw to his creation thru manipulation and lies. The stories continue in book 2 where they are relocated to DC as a special VJC Unit with Lincoln the new Director of the VJC. This is Max and Justin's love story along with what happened to Justin during the 7years he was missing. A very exciting st

Wow. This was awful. The BDSM was something I wouldn't have expected from reading the first book and it wasn't even BDSM. It was gratuitous rape and torture for no reason. I don't have a problem with books that have a BDSM theme. It's not my first choice when reading a book, but it's something that can be very interesting when written correctly. There wasn't a purpose for it other than for shock. This entire book made no sense whatsoever. The writing flowed fine and was easy to read but the plot ...more

2 books out in this series (this is the 2nd book and the first was "Dare To Love Forever") and it appears there could be plenty more based on the way this book ends. Both books have different MC's (however, they are all featured in both books) and both sets get their HEA's at the end of "their" book, it's the overall storyline that appears to just be getting started with these 2 books and the 3rd, etc. will take up with a vampire vs. human theme.

This is the 2nd book and they are both

3.5 stars rounded up, because I think it's actually my fault that I had some difficulties with this book. I haven't read book 1 and the first 20% in had no idea what was going on. I almost dnf the book because of my ongoing "wtf is happening here? who is this and who is that?" After I finally got into the story I enjoyed it.
So do yourself a favor and read book 1

I was looking forward to this book but had some troubles with the first half
nevertheless it was a great story and Max and Justin were very likeable characters
it was well written again and I enjoyed seeing the other characters again
I really hope there will be more books in this series. I would love to read more about Thommy and Doc and I am sure Wes would make a great MC

2017 Rainbow Awards Honorable Mention: Jake C. Wallace A Chance for Us (New Vampire Justice #2)
1) A vampire PNR that's refreshingly different from other vampire romances. Well-developed characters and an engaging - if emotionally charged - plot that kept me turning the pages. I want to read the next book in the series.

3.5 heart review for Love Bytes Reviews.

I loved the first book in this series, and I was hoping this one would be about Justin and Max… Happy to see it is!

What we learned from the last book is that this world has both vampires and humans, but humans are on top of the heap, vampires are second class citizens. Vampires aren’t much different except for the need to drink blood. Now they drink synthetic blood, and feeding from humans in illegal with the exception of “bite club

What an incredibly intense sequel Jake C. Wallace has written! A Chance for Us, book number two in the New Vampire Justice series has finally arrived, and it is bolder, darker and more exciting than its predecessor. Speaking of which, it has been two years since the first novel, Dare to Love Forever, and if you have not read it, then stop reading this and do so now for this review will make little sense to you, nor will this new novel without reading the first. Secondly, if it has been two years ...more

Book & Author: A Chance for Us by Jake C. Wallace
Rating: 5 Stars

I could not put this book down! Since I read my first Jake C. Wallace I have been hooked to his style of writing and creative, intense, exciting, sexy, hot, freaking awesome stories! He is able to create this connection not only between his characters but with the reader in the way he wraps us into the world he has created and the journey he takes you on while crafting a love story that is equally full of heart

Dare to love was an amazing book which is book one in the New Vampire Justice series. I really wondered just how Hake was going to be able to make book two, A chance for us, better and if it was even possible to do so. Well I am here to say that it is definitely possible and Jake accomplished that and then some in my opinion. Book one was amazing but book two was out of this world.

This series has definitely sucked me in and makes me anxious with anticipation for the next book to come out. Just

A Chance for Us is book two of the New Vampire Justice series. It is Max and Justin's story. If you read book one you having been waiting for this as much as I have. If not grab book one and catch up. I think you could read this one without book one as Jake did a great job of explaining things but I think you would understand things more if you had read the first one. And if you like Vampires you will love it.

Justin had been missing ever since Carson bit him when they were teenagers.

You will definitely need to read book 1 Dare to Love Forever, before reading this second installment. A Chance For Us is a great sequel to Dare . The story flows well and I couldn’t help but feel for both MC’s ( Justin and Max). They both endured very difficult lives. No Spoilers As much as I enjoyed both of these books ( the world is phenomenal) I struggled with quite a few things within the storyline. Yes, I know vampires aren’t real but cops and detective work exists within the real world, Therefo

The Blogger Girls

The continuation of the New Vampire Justice series gives us a healthy of dose of both our new protagonists: Justin and Max, as well as the couple from book one: Carson and Lincoln. Justin and Carson were teenage boyfriends before Carson was forced to bite Justin which threw him into a 7 year coma. Thus, book two is the aftermath of that act combined with a new mystery that took me to a place that was so far off my radar that I was blindsided.

This second entry of the "New Vampire Justice" series took place about five months after Dare to Love Forever ended. I have to say - while I was looking forward to how it turned out with Justin and Max - the story wasn't what I expected. There were layers on the storyline which connect a few members of NVJ team, no doubt to prepare further installments in the series.

This series is certainly a different take on vampire stories than what I've read s

The first half of this was great - I was enjoying getting the story of Justin. After that it was slightly confusing - and I never really felt like I got the answers I needed as to what happened to Justin for 7 years. I certainly know parts of it - but not all of it and all the extraneous stuff thrown in leant to further confusion and not clarity. I really enjoyed book #1 and it set the stage well - here I expected to really focus on Justin and Max and instead we get a lot of story about a lot of ...more

This is a book that will elicit strong emotions I think. For me it was very hard to get through. While I understood that Justin’s pathology led him to link pain to sex it was hard to read his lover doing these things to him. It just never sits well with me, though I KNOW that perfectly “sane” people also mix pain and sex on a regular basis. It’s just really not my thing.

As a result I was far more guarded in my appreciation of this installment. It seemed that every other page was disc

This story is a lot darker than the first as it includes elements of physical and mental abuse, torture and BDSM, which I wasn't expecting. I still love all the characters and was happy with the way the storyline picked up where book one, Dare to Love Forever, left off.

Twists & turns, a well written who done it. I certainly didn't suspect who bad guy turned out to be. Straight man learns that love comes in many forms. I highly recommend it to lovers of mystery, vampires & a HEA. Ends with a twist.

Jake C. Wallace (JC) started writing from a young age, but took a break for marriage, kids, and college (in that order). He started writing again and publishing three years ago. At night and on the weekends, Jake writes about all things men, believing there is nothing hotter than two men finding and loving one another, whether for a night or forever. An avid reader of M/M romance, Jake loves a goo ...more
