4 stars to Carrie Doyle's Death on Lily Pond Lane, her second in the Hampton's Murder Mystery series. I usually start a series with the first novel, but I was given a copy of the second one and decided to dive right in. And I'm glad I did... it's a great book. But now I'm a little disappointed I missed out on what sounds like some great intro and backstory in the first book. I will definitely go back to read them all.

What it's all about...

This is another Hamptons Windmill Inn mystery starring the delightful food lover, inn keeper and sleuth...Antonia Bingham. This time a young man is murdered as well as a few other wealthy Hampton residents seemingly over a film being made about what the Hampton's are like. Is this a case of secrets, lies and videos? I think it is. A Lysol cleaning can also plays a key role in this very clever "who did it."

Why I wanted to read it...

Carrie Doyle's newest book"Death On Lily Pond Lane" is the second in her Hamptons Murder Mystery Series and can be read as a stand alone book.
As a cozy mystery lover I'm always looking for new series to read so I had high hopes for this book. Unfortunately I was disappointed. This story starts out well enough but as I kept reading I found my mind wandering. I wanted more substance and more action.
Since I didn't read the first book I was a bit confused in places (example: the relationship between

This is the second visit to the Hamptons murder series and I must say a much improved visit! The first visit left me wondering if I liked the characters, but felt the series had potential. I'm so glad I stuck with it. This installment left me feeling that the series was much improved as the characters seemed to have more depth. The main character, Antonia, an Inn owner and self-proclaimed Chef, stayed a bit more true to the premise of intelligent, curious, truth seeking and competent. We also se ...more

In the very entertaining Death on Lily Pond Lane, Antonia discovers the body of a young man who was in East Hampton to make a documentary film (really an expose) of the rich and famous on the island. Since she found the body in a house where she was serving as a caretaker, Antonia is determined to find out just what happened to Warner, and who he made angry with his documentary. There are plenty of suspects (this is East Hampton, you know), and Antonia comes up with several candidates and ruffle ...more

Death on Lily Pond Lane by Carrie Doyle is an ok book. I have to say I would like it better if some of the language and sex references were left out. To me neither one of these two things added to the mystery and so was not in this readers opinion necessary. That being said I liked the book. I always look at a mystery as being good if you have several possible suspects with feasible reasons they could be the murderer making you guess and surprised when you get to the end. This book does that. Th ...more

The Second Hamptons Murder Mystery

It's the off season in the Hamptons and Antonia Bingham has taken on extra work looking after a few estates while the owners are away. At one of her stops Antonia is surprised to discover the car of a house guest who was supposed to have already left town. She is even more surprised to find his dead body in the bathtub! In an attempt to protect the homeowners and thinking the death is a
I really enjoyed this book! Death on Lily Pond Lane is the second book in the Hamptons Murder Mystery series by author Carrie Doyle, the first being Death on Windmill Way, but it definitely can be read as a standalone book. The characters and mystery were well-written and well-developed, and I had a hard time putting it down, especially towards the end. Antonia Bright is the proprietor and chef at an inn in The Hamptons, and is described as a modern day Miss Marple. As an Agatha Christie fan mys ...more

The beautiful Hamptons, the Windmill Inn and a murder and the story is off to a good start. I didn't read the first book in the series and it might have been helpful (but not necessary) to know some of the backstory. It ends with cliff-hangers so I will be waiting for the next in the series to see how they are resolved. I received a copy of the book from the author and have voluntarily written an honest review.

Lily Pond Lane is another cozy mystery in the Hamptons Murder Series. I really enjoyed book one so decided to venture back into book 2. Very glad that I did.

This latest mystery is even more fast-paced than the murders in book 1. I love snappy dialog and this did not disappoint. The author did more to flesh out the main character and explain more details of her past without giving everything away and successfully added in more wonderful folks from the Hampton community.

A wonderful murder mystery

Having grown up on the East Coast and being a Cozy mystery lover, this series was a home run for me!

Antonia Bingham is the Inn Keeper and Chef of the Windmill Inn in the Hamptons. To help in the off season she keeps an eye on several Summer homes for the locals and manages to stumble upon the body of a houseguest in one of those homes. As if taking care of her guests at the Inn and running the restaurant aren't enough to keep her busy now Antonia finds herself trying to figure out whether the d

Another good outing by author Carrie Doyle, as we continue with Antonia Bingham and the locals that patronise the Windmill. The death of a young film-maker and the missing film footage see Antionia and her BFF investigate.

Sometimes cliches are right "its all fun and games till someone gets hurt". Soon we are left wondering just what was on this missing film that someone was prepared to kill for.

This one was a little slow moving to begin with (probably as it could easily be read as a stand-alone

As this is the second book in the series, I like that I didn't have to have read the first book to get an understanding of most of the characters. Carrie Doyle does a good job of providing character backgrounds and painting a picture of the Hamptons, in particular Antonia's Windmill Inn. She gives enough information so that I was able to figure out the killer's identity. Since Antonia is a chef it would have been a nice bonus to have at least one of her recipes at the end. All in all, Death on L ...more

I enjoyed the first book of the series, "Death on Windmill Way" but this book is even better! Death on Lily Pond Lane kept me reading into the night. I kept thinking I *knew* who did it, but then the story would twist sideways and I was back to square one.

I'm pretty sure I was meant to read this series. I entered an online contest and won a copy of this book signed by the author. I kept thinking it sounded familiar and I realized I had bought it (and the first book) on Kindle already. I'm so gla

Death on Lily Pond Lane is the 2nd book in the Hampton Murders Mysteries series by Carrie Doyle.

This is the only book I've read in this series, but I was able to read this as a standalone. The only thing that wasn't explained well was the relationship to Nick, the actor.

This book was okay. It just didn't grab me and make me want to go back to read the first book.

What I liked:
- The premise of Antonia owning an inn in the Hamptons and house sitting. There's a lot of potential storylines.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a fair review. Antonia Bingham is at it again. After finding the body of a young man in a house for which she was a part time care taker, Antonia begins investigating on her own with help from Joseph who has moved into her inn full time. Despite running the inn and restaurant and her personal life which is becoming more complicated by the day, she cannot bring herself to trust the police. The bodies are adding up, she thinks she has a stalker and on ...more

Another great adventure with Toni and her friend-made family. I'm liking the characters more and more each book. Still a little over done on what seems like unnecessary descriptions but at this point it adds to the charm of the story. I love how different this mystery and reveal was from the first so it's clear to see Carrie Doyle has a great imagination and knows how to keep you reading and guessing until the end. I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.

A fun, crazy read with quirky characters and lots of twists and turns!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I have found another new cozy author to follow! This book is the second in the Hampton murder mystery series. It can be read as a stand-alone. Antonia is the owner of the Windmill Inn and in the off season takes on a second job of keeping an eye on the "vacation" homes of the rich. This books includes a murder, a scandelous documentary, a famous actor, some dysfunctional romance, great quirky ch

Death on Lily Pond Lane by Carrie Doyle catches you right from the start. This is the second book in A Hamptons Murder Mystery series, but is a stand-alone book and it doesn’t disappoint. Carrie Doyle does an excellent job of creating vivid, descriptive scenes that place you in the middle of the action and storyline. The characters are well developed and interesting as well as believable. The premise of the story is intriguing and has you second-guessing yourself, each character, and everyone’s ...more

I really enjoyed this book! It got me hooked right away and I had to find out how it was going to end. I have not read the first book in the series, but I liked this one so much that I will have to look for it. I wasn't lost at all by not reading the first book. And the end of the book definitely has a teaser so I will have to be on the lookout for the next in the series.

Antonia and Joseph have a very nice relationship. And Antonia is lucky to have a friend like Genevieve. They were fun to read
Death on lily pond lane needed more editing. There were multiple areas where the grammar/English was incorrect.
I found the story a little convoluted . Divorced woman from a battered marriage (Antonia) starts over in East Hamptons New York. Her ex husband was a cop and when she reported his abuse the police didn't protect her. She is now distrustful of all police.
Antonia owns an Inn in East Hampton and is also a caretaker of some empty homes off season. While checking on one of her clients homes

Fun mystery set in the Hamptons.

Antonia runs an inn in the Hamptons and the season is just ramping up.

So of course she encounters a dead body while doing her second job, checking people's Summer homes to make certain they are in good shape.

Antonia is a bit of a busybody (as most prime characters in cozy mysteries are otherwise there would not be much of a story :) ) but she is a sweet and fun character to see through the eyes of. She is flawed and a bit broken which just makes her more lovabl

I liked the setting and some of the food-centric chatter in the book, but on the whole found it lacking in any one element that would set it apart as an interesting mystery.

The characters had promise, but didn't quite deliver (they seemed just a bit too "pat" or stereotypical for my taste;

The language and writing style didn't have any sparkle. . . . or humor. . . . or significant local color;

but the Inn was an appealing setting and I loved the interplay between the protagonist (inn-keeper/chef)

Death on Lily Pond Lane by Carrie Doyle is the second book in A Hamptons Murder Mystery series. Antonia Bingham owns the Windmill Inn in East Hampton where she is also the head chef. During the off season, she is the caretaker to two properties (while their owners are at their primary residences). Antonia is checking on the Mastersons’ property. Warner Caruthers, a friend of Luke Masterson, had been staying in the guest quarters, but he was supposed to have departed the previous day. Antonia sea ...more

When she hears that someone is still staying in one of her houses she goes to let him know he's got to check out when she finds him he's really checked out of life. Who killed Warner the guy whose been going around town doing a documentary and causing lots of trouble? Was it one of the people he was interviewing or someone else?

I may be in the minority here, but I was a little bored with this story. I suppose I like my stories with more action.

There was too much personal stuff with Antonia. She doesn’t even seem to be that good of a “snooper.” I was disappointed.

I don’t believe I’ll read any more of Ms. Doyle’s book. Too many books; too little time.

Thank you to Netgalley and Dunemere Books for allowing me the opportunity to read this book.
