Although this presents itself as a mystery, it’s really a romance with a mystery thrown in as an afterthought. I wish it was the other way around – more of a mystery with a little romance, then I could have given this a higher rating, but as is I feel it is falsely billed.
I really didn’t care for this one as neither the romance nor the mystery jibed with me. It took me forever to finish reading it because once I got to about the half way point I realized it wasn’t going to turn into the cute co ...more

Very disappointing book. This was a romance disguised as a cozy mystery. At least 75% was comprised of the main character Charlotte fighting off her feelings for her co-worker. Don't get me wrong. I enjoy cozy mysteries with a touch of romance. In fact, sometimes I look forward to it or almost expect it. However, when the romance overshadows the mystery and the book is labelled as a mystery, then I have an issue with it.

Book was enjoyable....except...the hero kept "flaring his nostrils" when he was excited. Please....I thought that went out for men in the Victorian romances....and it wasn't good then.

This story is the second mystery that I have given three stars to because it is falsely put out as a mystery. It is a romance story with a mystery woven into it.
The story has defined characters, and a decent plot that makes for an enjoyable read. But the main focus of the story is NOT the mystery. It is the romantic aspirations of the lead character and person she is all hot and bothered about. There are also major editing issues in this story. For the entire book they are twins, with Charlotte ...more

Another Aloha Lagoon murder mystery book-what fun! I like the concept of the different authors writing about the same place with overlapping characters, yet highly individualized murders and main characters. It makes for a series full of delightful and unexpected happenings!
This time the book is about the temporary manager supplied when long time manager Phillip Kealoha died suddenly from a heart attack. The Freemont Hospitality Inc. that owned the resort brought in Charlotte Conner and her assi ...more

Charlotte Conner is a temporary manager for a resort company, this slot however has been the longest one yet, 6 months and counting! She is desperate to get out but first she has to run the Christmas events and Christmas is right down her list of favourite holidays. As well as this she is trying to avoid her deputy manager (no one should look THAT good!) and then her assistant goes missing, only to be found later on and that is one person that will not be celebrating ever again. So with Charlo

I liked the characters but the main character's thoughts got in way of the story. Plus the story ended kinda of hanging. I know that this is a series but I think it could have ended better. The mystery was kinda like an afterthought. This is my least favorite in the series so far.

A Hallmark Channel Christmas movie meets a Law and Order episode....that is how it feels when you read Mele Kalikimaka Murder by Aimee Gilchrist.

Loved this book. The first 2 in the series were awesome; the 3rd not so much and the 4th was ok. I was really hoping that the 5th would bring back much of what the first 2 had and it definitely did not disappoint. Alex and Charlie (Charlotte) are now running the Aloha Lagoon Resort (AL for short) and they wind up with quite a mystery on their hands when Charlie's assistant is found dead and stuffed into the waterfall at the beginning of the Christmas Holiday festivities week. The clues that they

Entertaining and interesting tale!!! Charlotte , a twin, is an uptight perfectionist, who attempts to save every situation. Her sister is much the opposite, but they both care deeply about each other. They work to solve the mysteries and find love along the way. I will try to read the books in the series

Do you ever really know anyone?
Awesome! Christmas should be a time of joy. But finding a dead body (or two) can put a downer on anyone. Add drugs and your twin (who slept with your ex groom a couple of days before the wedding that never was) then you have an absolute horror of the festive season. Great twists in this. Really enjoyed it.

Way too much information about Hawaii very little storyline. I gave up reading the book midway through; I just couldn't continue it was too boring. Obviously this author & her storyline is not for me.

3.5 stars. A light, fun read! It definitely makes me want to spend Christmas in Hawaii in the future (minus the murder part). Oh, and I've said this hundred times, but Gilchrist knows how to write dialogue, which makes her books that much more fun to read!

Really enjoyed this book! I chose it for it's Christmas theme but I will definitely read more in the series.
