This is not a book that you simply read cover to cover and gain a few insights. This is a workbook, a manual that covers HOW and WHAT to pray for your girls! I love that she includes suggestions for you as MOM, for praying for your little girls, your "middle" aged girls, and your older girls. For ANY mom (or grandmother or aunt) of girls, this is a must read book!!
How many Christian moms, aunts, teachers, sisters, grandmothers, mentors pray for the girls in their lives? And how many of these adults struggle with what to pray for them sometimes? The girls are so much younger and deal with things the adults can't always understand. Whether you are someone looking to pray for a girl in a particular situation or just pray for their well-being, this book is for you.

Praying for Girls: Asking God for the Things They Need Most is a book that endeavors to do just

The prayers of a mother are vitally important. Yet, sometimes, we aren't sure what to pray. I've often wondered if I am missing any areas that need to be prayed over. What did I fail to cover? We wonder how to pray over specific areas and how to pray Scripture over our girl.

In her brand new book Praying for Girls, Teri Lynne Underwood shares 5 main areas to pray over your daughter, each with little sub-areas. She teaches us how to pray over her identity, her heart, her mind, her relationships a

I wrote a couple months ago about things I want to pray for my daughters, and I mentioned in that post that I wish someone would write a book about praying for girls - well, little did I know that book was in the works! I snagged Praying For Girls by Terri Lynne Underwook as soon as I saw it, because it seemed so timely.

This book covers 20 different prayers to pray specifically for our girls. Each chapter starts with a personal story and commentary from the author, then moves into fill-in-the-bl

The very first thing I want to say about this book is how it challenges and encourages and even convicts, but there is zero feeling of condemnation. I've read so many really great books that help me and encourage me, and speak great words of Christ to me, but also leave me feeling a bit ashamed (and perhaps this is my fault) but this one just lifted me up. The deepest desires of my heart are for my girls to love Christ and radically follow Him, and I am woefully inadequate to completely teach th ...more

Praying for Girls by Terri Lynne Underwood is a helpful guide for moms who want to pray for their daughters but might not be sure where to start. Terri is the mother of a teenager, so she's been through a few seasons of raising a daughter and it was delightful to read about her experiences thus far. Terri writes in a style that is transparent and truthful which I found to be quite refreshing. At the end of each chapter, Terri provides a few prayers to pray over your daughter and Scriptures to su ...more

Every mom wants the best for her children. Life is challenging, and we wonder how our kids will handle life as they are growing up in this world. Will they move closer to God or will they turn away? As a mom of a young girl who is a year away from middle school, I wonder how my prayer life could be better in praying for her. Teri Lynne Underwood has written a book called Praying for Girls that is a resource for parents in their prayer life as they pray for their daughters. As our world continues ...more

It seems maybe silly to have a book on how to pray for our kids because prayer is just talking to God, right? Of course it is. We walk with Him, talk with Him, tell Him about our day, cry out about injustices, and ask for healing, blessings, and His wisdom. We use prayer as a form of worship and as a step of faith, right? That's great I think. It's simple, but it also isn't. Praying For Girls by Teri Lynne Underwood helps us focus those prayers.
There is no formula that will make our prayers hea

Praying for Girls is a great resource that I know I will refer back to often throughout my motherhood journey with my daughter, but even though it is geared towards praying for our girls, some of the prayers I can also use for my sons. Not only does she teach us how to pray for our daughters, Teri Lynne also reminds us that even though we are adults now that many of these struggles our girls are battling are still very true in our lives as well. All of her prayers for moms spoke directly to my h ...more

I recently had the opportunity to combine two of my loves in a wonderful book entitled Praying for Girls by Teri Lynne Underwood. I was excited for the chance to get into it! Just a note of housekeeping, the wonderful people at Bethany House graciously provided this book for free. It is my pleasure to share with you my honest review.

Praying for Girls is a sweet book, from a purposeful perspective - the book was written by a "girl mom" to other moms of girls. As a mom to a soon to be 2-year-old,

Praying for Girls: Asking God for the Things They Need Most by Teri Lynne Underwood are Scripture-based prayers for the girls in your life. Raising a daughter can cause a lot of worry and concern, especially when we think of the danger, trials, and temptations that will face her. Yet you can feel the peace that comes when you pray specific Scriptures over her and turn your prayers into hope and promises rather than times of fear over what may happen.

I have two daughters who are now in their teens. I cannot begin to count the number of times during their lives that I was reduced to speechless groaning in my prayers for them, trusting that verse about the Holy Spirit praying on my behalf. I wish I had this book years ago, when they were small. But it’s never too late to develop a richer prayer life, and this book is a great tool for doing just that.

The book is divided into different sections, based on different struggles a girl may face:

"Praying for Girls" isn't just for your little girl or your teenage girl, but this book can be used for anyone. I love the prayers in this book. I have notes written in this book and prayers highlighted. This book is marked all over the place of prayers that I have been praying for, especially women. I love that this book starts with praying for our daughters, but it can be modified to pray for any special woman in our life. (Sisters, neighbors, co-workers, nieces, etc) However, the main focus o ...more

Teri Lynn Underwood has written a book that everyone who is influencing a girl - daughter, friend, mentor, grand-daughter, niece, cousin, whatever the relationship - needs to read. I'm a prayer, good or bad when something happens I pray about it. But I always wonder if I'm doing it the 'right' way or if there is something more I should be praying. Am I missing something? Covering it all? Can I just pray a generic prayer and have everything covered? Y'all praying shouldn't be stressful, but I thi ...more

Teri Lynne writes from the tender place of remembering what it was like to be a girl and also from and equally tender place of being Mom to a girl of her own. She invites the reader into her experiences and then offers sections geared to cover every aspect of your girl’s growing up. With sections titled Prayers for Her Identity, Prayers for Her Heart, Prayers for Her Mind, Her Relationships and Her Purpose, she equips us with ways to feed our daughters spirit and deepen her relationship with God ...more

Praying for Girls: Asking God for the Things They Need Most by Teri Lynne Underwood is a gem of a book, full of prayers tailored specifically for girls. The book includes five sections: Prayers for Her Identity, Prayers for Her Heart, Prayers for Her Mind, Prayers for Her Relationships, and Prayers for Her Purpose.

My favorite section was Prayers for Her Mind, which has chapters focusing on renewal, peacefulness, guarding one’s mind, and setting one’s mind on things above. Each chapter includes s

This is not a "how to" book but a "what to" list of areas to diligently cover our girls in prayer during those challenging years. She brings suggested prayers for the areas of Her Identity, Her Heart, Her Mind, Her Relationships, and Her Purpose. Each chapter includes Scriptures and stories to show how the author prayed in her own life for her daughter.

The author recognizes our girls will need to be approached differently so as to teach in an age appropriate manner. Each section includes an acti

Praying for Girls guides you through 200 Scripture-based prayers for your daughter's identity, heart, mind, relationships, and purpose. Each day's entry contains a brief devotional and a list of scriptural prayers organized around the day's theme. There's also a section just for moms--because we have to get these truths into our own hearts if we want our daughters to grab hold tight. One of my favorite features is the "Girl Talk" section, which includes devotional activities and conversation sta ...more

I'm a mom of 4 kids. 3 of those are girls ages 16, almost 6 and 4. I expected this book to be geared more towards my 16 year old.
I was shocked to find in each chapter ways to make this work for my 6 and 4 year old girls too. Truly a book that will grow with us as my littles grow, and it's perfect for my 16 year old too.

The chapters were well written. The prayers absolutely perfect and right on topic. I loved the suggestions for driving home each point the most of anything in the book. I'm so qui

If you have girls, I couldn't more strongly recommend this book. I believe it has helped make my prayers more focused and effective, and it has given me ideas of how to talk to my kids now, and in the future about what it means to be a Christ-follower. I pray it has a similar impact on your family as well.

This is a great book for all moms with girls! It's an easy read and you can read in any order you want, based on what you're wanting to focus on at the time. She gives good suggestions for connecting with your daughter (at every age) and guides us on how to pray scripture over our girls.
A helpful resource for Christian mothers of daughters. It seemed to be written especially for moms of tween daughters who are already Christians. It was an easy read. I'll come back to it for some direction in praying biblical prayers for my daughters.

Praying for Girls could be a great ministry tool if you have daughters or if you work with a lot of young girls. Underwood writes so that it almost feels like you are sitting across from her at a coffee shop, discussing your spiritual life. It could be very helpful for someone first starting out with praying for her daughters. It could be a good place to start for someone beginning to disciple a younger woman, as well.

As a mom of daughters, I know they need prayer, but I don't often know what or how to pray for them.  Times have certainly changed from my teenage years and my daughters' needs are different from mine and from each other.  They both do, though, need to know where to find their strength and security, pursue a life of love, grow in wisdom and discernment, foster healthy relationships and trust God with their life.

These prayers are wonderful to pray with your daughter not just alone.  The girl talk
