Not the most entertaining story for a 37-year old kid but it must be fun reading out all the hisses and ca-choos to a small child.

Emma, Ellen and Eric spent a day at the river. It was dinner time and Eric offered his two annoying sisters a race home. Emma got caught in a vine during the race and her sister Ellen offers her trunk to help, but then slips and falls. Eric tries to help them both but he also slips and falls and they all end up being tangled together. A snake comes along and tries to help, but ends up being tangled up as well. Some monkeys came along but were no help. In the end, some birds come along with a cloud of dust, drop it on the tangled animals and they end up coughing and sneezing themselves apart. Everyone was invited to dinner and they walked calmly and sensibly back home.
This story is very good for foundation stage and KS1. The children found it very amusing and they also understood the moral of the story which was to be sensible to stay out of trouble. They also discussed the importance of helping others when possible. This book can be linked to geography and it can also help children to learn about different types of animals and where they can be found.
