“The Sting”. “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”. And probably several other movies that I've yet to see. Each is about a couple of confidence men, working with a set of associates to not just steal a sum of money from some unsuspecting person, BUT to have them hand over the money willingly. Everyone has their part to play, including some innocent bystanders who don't even know what they've been dragged into. And nothing, whether planned or happenstance, is EVER as it seems on the surface …

“Baby Blue” is

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.

This is the second book of this series that I have read and they just keep getting better. The story is interesting from beginning to end. I can't wait for the next book!

Not having read the other two books, I must say I enjoyed this one from the get go! Jack is at San Francisco General Hospital. He is there to see the man who taught him everything he knows about being a con-man, I should say, ex- con-man. Anyway, as he waits someone from his past comes up.
The woman who he, before he married, ran cons with and had a relationship with. She too is now married, and needs his help. Her and her husband own a winery, and someone is trying to take it away. Her husband h

I really enjoyed the first book in the Jack McCoul series and I'm enjoying each one even more. Baby Blue was a great ride. The characters are fantastic and beautifully drawn. The writing is wonderful.
The city of San Francisco is it's own character and I love how the city is portrayed. As a recent transplant I can tell you it's spot on. Baby Blue takes us into Napa and I love all the details about the wine business as well. The plotting is perfectly paced and the dialogue crackles. It's funny as

A very good read. I enjoy novels that entertain me without pretension and Baby Blue does just that. It involves interesting characters, an intriguing plot, and kept me guessing from chapter to chapter. It was one of those satisfying reads in which I could at times get something right, but most others I had to admit I was not as good a solver as I thought. Dwight Holing does a great job of making his characters interesting without boring you to death with their life story. I am assuming as one re ...more

Rains keeping San Francisco soaked and an old flame crosses Jacks path, she was trouble then but claims that's all in the past. She's now married, running a winery and needs help with some big wigs wanting to steal their water. What a ride you'll be on as troubles appear in all sorts of corners and you'll find it hard to put this down as Jack tries to put out lots of fires.

Very entertaining! Loved the characters! The author really made them come to life. Lots of twists and turns to keep your attention. Will definitely read more Dwight Holing books in the future.

Brilliantly authentic conman caper

Authenticity shines through every aspect of “Baby Blue,” the new Jack McCoul caper.
The characters are colorful, complex, conflicted and three-dimensional, as well as multi-cultural. The San Francisco Bay area and Silicon Valley are described in sufficient detail to make them intriguing, interesting and authentic without distracting from the narrative. The con games seem believable. The prose is intelligent, learned and literate. Whether discussing viticulture,
