Savagely beautiful.

“If you were alive, you'd wish you had killed me.”

Once upon a time, a human girl fought in a desperate battle, and she was sliced with a blade. She died, and then she came back. She clawed her way out of the grave, with no memories of her past and some abilities that burned her and begged to be unleashed. She could only catch a glimpse of her former self when she bathed in blood, when she harnessed her newfound powers. She was death. She was destruction. Her gift

I liked this book, but I have to say I enjoyed the second book more. This book is not quite as action packed as last one but it is more going from one dire situation to another. One of the things I did feel is Elizabeth May did try to wrap everything up to make this a proper ending, but a few of these parts felt rushed. Though I always respect a writer when the put a definite end to a series.

Aileen’s is back more powerful then ever, but different and more then slightly broken. All this is leadin

This trilogy was a roller coaster of emotions for me. I'm literally sitting here sobbing because reading all three books is so painful. You never know what to expect from Elizabeth May. Once moment you'll be laughing with the characters, and the next there's going to be such a violent plot twist, you'll be sitting there for thirty minutes straight trying to process life.

And here I thought the pain would end.

Boy, was I wrong.

Ok WOW this was everything I needed the finale to be. I go into finales with such trepidation...but this managed to absolutely bloodily rip out my heart and heal it...well sort of. I am still damaged. (DAMAGED, OK.) And the last 100 pages were such an exhausting, heart-racing whirlwind, my entire thought process is just !!!

The stakes were particularly delightfully TERRIFYING.
I frikkin' swear. I have grey hair now. I also appreciate that I was worried (lol sob with good cause) for everyone's li

TW: death of loved ones; possession

This series had so much potential and I think I went in with too high of hopes due to its slight cult following. Fans of fae series will likely still enjoy it but I found the overarching plot a bit disjointed, the world building not as fleshed out as I would have liked, and the villains to be under-utilized. I never felt a sense of danger for the characters or any angst in a relationship that was supposed to be “will they; won’t they.” One of the few times I t

This book was perfect, absolutely perfect. I couldn’t have imagined a more extraordinary ending for Aileana, Kiaran, Aithinne, and everyone else! It was just so bittersweet and melancholy and startling, and I’ve been left feeling like all I want to do is curl up into a ball and sob for hours and hours on end. As I anticipated in my last review, this book left me broken in the most exqu

Lol, I'm sorry. I just had to use that scene.

The Fallen Kingdom is a frankly disappointing finale to a series I've consistently rated 4 stars or above in the past.

Oh, sure, it's satisfying, I suppose. All the threads are tied up. But it's satisfying the way rice and vegetables are satisfying. It fills you up, but lacks the same giddy pleasure as cake or baco

After the ending of book 2, I was thrilled to be able to start this immediately. And it definitely didn't disappoint.

Aileana is still amazing. Kiaran is still brooding {and swoony af}. Aithinne and Derrick are still delightful and seriously some the best parts of the story.

This plot line is full of emotions. I laughed and had my heartbroken all within a small span of pages. Over and over and over again. It was the most delicious torture. The lead up to the finale was satisfying. There is one thi

My first review in months. I became quite rusty when it comes to explaining myself on paper, plus I am like 90% tired all the time these days, so this review will probably resemble a mess of random thoughts with no real structure.

First of all, Falconer trilogy was and is one of my favorites. But sometimes even our favorite books disappoint us in small ways we cannot forgive. In the case of The Fallen Kingdom I couldn't forgive how slow and boring some parts of the story

"Tell people that when the faery king and the human girl first met, he saw how clever she was. How foolish an brave and magnificent. And he knew that one day, falling in love with her wouldn't be a choice. It would come to him as easily as breathing. Tell people about how they stood at the end of all things and saved the world. Together."

No more Aileana. No more Kiaran. No more Derrick. No more Aithinne. No more Sorcha.

SPOILER ALERT for the first two books of the series! You have been warned...

The Fallen Kingdom picks back up exactly where The Vanishing Throne left off – at least in Aileana’s mind. In reality quite a bit has happened and I was super confused for a few chapters. This would be a negative EXCEPT Aileana is just as confused as the hapless reader and so it’s perfect. She slowly pieces together what happened to her and everyone else and while she’s just as m

Starting this trilogy, and even while reading the first book, I never would have guessed just how much I will end up loving this series. With each book, this series gets only better and better, also darker. This last insalment was the darkest of the three in my opinion. The first book was by no means perfect, but it really is apparent now how Elizabeth May got better at writing and creating compelling characters and more intricate world building with each new book.

The world building was a bit l

This series will always be a favourite of mine, and for some reason I've put off reviewing the final book, even though I devoured it when my copy arrived. Well, here goes. Aileana Kameron is given a second chance at life but it comes with a cost, unimaginable loss.

Can she remember how to break the curse before it’s too late?

I was white knuckle reading to find out and if you’re a fan, you will be too. I cried, I laughed, my heart hurt and I just could not put this book down.

MY HEART HURTS. THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD THAT IT LITERALLY HURT MY HEART.

After the evil way the previous book ended, I NEEDED to know what was going to happen next in this story. Thankfully, this book picked up right where the previous book ended. This book was exhilarating, addictive, intoxicating, sexy, and emotional. The Fallen Kingdom was an emotional roller coaster that I never wanted to get off of. There were some moments in this book that broke my heart that I was not expecting.

I hade to skip some paragraphs, otherwise, I'd read till I'm 50. No unfinished series anymore, 'cause when the last book comes out you're already distracted and then, in 4 years, you completely have no idea why you still try to finish it. But I must, 'cause each closed bookish gestalt makes me feel better.

So, to the story. (view spoiler)

This book provided a perfect ending for the story Aileana, Kiaran and all the others. Well, no, it wasn't 100% happily ever after. I don’t really have a lot to say about this.

I was super annoyed with the repeated thoughts that happened after every single paragraph. I got the first time it was repeated, but then it would be repeated like twenty more times.

And then the unnecessary death.

I absolutely loved the first book. The first book was so great. But the second book was just okay (like a lot of middle-books in a trilogy) and I was excited for an epic ending and I just... I wasn’t into it.
