Cruel. Cold. Wicked. Just a few adjectives used to describe the most ancient of fairies—Galeta The Blue. But did you know, dear reader, that once upon a time, long, long ago, the Blue was the Benevolent Pink?
Few know the trials of the fae reviled by all, save for one. The ancient and wise Creator. Galeta is the Creator’s daughter, and It will stop at nothing to save her. The truth of who the fairy really is may startle you. She’s the heroine of all of Kingdom. A sad truth no one knows, not even the wee fairy herself. The journey to getting her back will be marred by pain, trials, and tribulations, and when it’s over, Kingdom will never be the same again…
I'm going to surprise everyone with this review, including myself. If you have the read the books you may already know my thought process. I mean who wants to like the evil fairy?! Well, I do...now. Did your mouth drop? Yeah, mine did too. This storyline, in my opinion, is the best in the series. I'm not done yet though I may retract that statement after the next book. You will just have to wait and see. Till my next review!
Ooooh my! What a ride! This book made me absolutely breathless, I had to take some breaks or it would have hurtled me right through to the end - and sometimes I was crying so hard I couldn't really read.
The heroine is once again a hated woman with a very dark background and if you read the series from the beginning (Her Mad Hatter) you already know and despise her. I never thought that could change but read for yourself! And her hero? If she didn't want him, I'll take him. Soooo dark and dangerous and cruelly wronged and so proud and clever and witty. I fell for him head over heels!
And then there's little Harpy. Jovee's side characters are often very special, making her story so much more loveable and here again she creates a creature that is just so adorable. Her childlike and yet so wise and empathic character - and I picture her absolutely glorious after the description in the book. Can't wait to read more about her (I hope I will), she really grew on me.
We are meeting old friends from Kingdom here, all over the series and I adore that too. And the end is breathtaking all over again. I'm with her! And I am sure you will be too!
I didn’t think I’d flip a leaf and like Galeta the Blue. She was horrid and downright mean! Yet I find myself feeling sorry for her. The choice she made had extensive reaching results, and darned if she didn’t try to make good and fix things. Galeta definitely deserves an HEA, but her road was an infinitely difficult one to navigate.
And the state Kingdom was left in?! Holy cow, I can’t read The Mad King fast enough!
It's no secret that I am in Awe of Jovee's story telling skills and that I am in love with all the characters from Kingdom good, bad and ugly. For that reason I was truly honoured to receive an advance review copy of this title and instructed to give my honest opinion.
My honest opinion is this: Life doesn't always come up roses and end happily ever after and so when it always does you start to realise that the rose tinted glasses will eventually slip. This book is the bump in the road, the ying required for yang to go on existing. There is always a 'Pandoras Box' to face in any given situation and here is Kingdoms!
Jovee has brilliantly told a story that implodes what we know of Kingdom and it's heartbreaking to read when your as in love with this world as I am, however it's done in a such a way that I am (almost) certain some good will come of it in the end and that some of these wrongs can be rewritten. I have confidence that if anyone can save the day and make it right in the end then Galeta and Jovee can...
And then reading that back to myself I have realised I am gushing which I didn't mean to do so please ignore me BUT you really should treat yourself, Just be ready!
What the hell just happened?! What the crap did I just read?! Are you seriously telling me THAT was the ending?!?!?!? All of that .... Everything..the journey...and then BAM! (insert gif of Raven from Drag Race All Stars 1)"I could not believe it!!!"). If you are curious as to what I am talking about then my GOD hurry up and check this series out because I just can't. If fairy tales with a twist are your jam then give this series a look see.
What did I just read!? The end. Holy moly! I do not even know what to say. My whole fairytale world just got turned upside down. I feel for Rumple and Hatter. I need to hug them!
I fell in love with the series from the first book. Jovee has a unique way to make you feel as if you are there in her stories. I fell in love with Kingdom and each book is better than the last...from the "Bad Boys" to the "Dark Queens" each character is given the chance to find true love. This book has quite a surprise twist (which I won't give away). I am on edge now, anxiously waiting to find out what will happen next.
Wow this book took a turn to the totally unexpected! I'm not sure what to think! This book was amazing like all the others I really did like it... But now I feel the need to cry and throw a huge fit because I'm not sure what just happened.... Officially scared of what is to come and the wait to see what happens!!!??!!
This book will change everything you thought you knew about fairytales! And the ending! You will be sitting there thinking, what the heck?? All of Jovee's books are great but this one really puts a spin on things! It's about Syrith and Galeta the Blue. And Harpy and so many others in her Kingdom books that show up occasionally. Excellent read!!
Just when I thought I knew Kingdom and it's Dark Queens Jovee has completely topsied turveed the world all about! What an beautifully done story. It was amazing! How can you do anything but hang on for the ride? I just cannot wait to see wht happens next!
Next Queen out did the last one! Jovee please keep cranking out the Kingdom stories because it gets me through the hum drum of life!!!! You did all fairies proud with this one!
Any author who can take a character that I've learned to despise over a period of 16.5 books and make me root for them deserves a five star rating on their story. I know the cover is pink, but this is the story of Galeta the Blue. A fairy that has caused trouble for almost every character that we know and love in the Kingdom series thus far. The male lead and love match is an equally fun surprise that I'll try not to ruin, but I will tell you that his name is Syrith and he's the son of two characters from a previous Kingdom book. Also, this tale continues Calypso's and Aphrodite's 'Love Games', which is written about in the previous two books. Finally, while all the books before could be read out of order, if you chose to, you can not skip this book and read ahead. If you do, you'll be thoroughly confused about what happened to your beloved Kingdom and its inhabitants. You've been warned... 😉 I feel the need to tell you that I was very concerned about reading and liking this book. When I decide I love a series, I do my research. I look up how many books and how much more fun I can look forward to if I stick with it. While researching this, only after book #3 (Red and Her Wolf under the penname Marie Hall), I discovered that the world I would grow to love would be turned upside down because of this book. Many fans were upset that the author did this to her beloved characters, complete outrage. With that being said, I beg you to give this story a chance and try and understand why this may have been necessary. First, if you've read this far in the series you've probably become addicted to Jovee's misunderstood bad guys and the world of Kingdom. Which means, you want to read more about this world in the future. And not just new characters, but you want more stories that involve characters from all 16.5 books before this one. From what I know of the series so far, the author had kind of written herself into a corner and her fans wanted more stories. The HEAs for many of the previous charters were too neat and complete, they're called HEAs for a reason. To be able to write about those characters again, their HEAs needed to be messed with. And boy does she mess with them. If you think about it, the world of Kingdom may change after this story, but it gives you an opportunity to fall in love with it and it's people all over again. If you hang in there after this book, I promise you won't be dissapointed. There is still an HEA for this story dispite the chaos that ensues because of it. Please give this wonderful story a chance like I did. The author is a wizard with words and characters and she does such a beautiful and satisfying job with Galeta and Syrith. I can't wait to read more about this fabulous couple. I'm off to read the next book which, even though there are more Dark Queen books in the series, is actually the first Dark King book, The Mad King. I dare you to hazard a guess as to who that's about... Anyway, I'll see you on the other side. Enjoy!
In the sixth installment of the Dark Queens series, Jovee Winters focuses on the love life of Galeta the Blue, The Fairy Queen. Before she was the little devil she is on this series, she was known as the Pink fairy. She was kind and willing to sacrifice herself for the rest of the world. This is what is responsible for her downfall. The Creator, who is Galeta's mother, is realizing how badly the fairy needs to be saved. That is where the Love Games come in. Syrith is the son of a previous dark queen in this series and is now destined to be Galeta's match in the games. But, can he save her from herself before it is too late? This followed the routine of the other books. The dark queen met her soulmate. She refused to believe it was her soulmate but then in the end they got together and lived happily ever after. The ending, however, was different from the rest. The ending made me want to find out what happens next. This book was linked to Winters' previous series which she wrote using the pseudonym, Marie Hall, The Kingdom Series. So, of course, that will most likely be my next series by her. Considering what I saw of Galeta before this book, I was not expecting to actually feel anything other than hatred for her. However, after reading about her creation, I was actually able to feel sorry for her. Syrith, Galeta's mate, was a nice touch. I liked the fact that he was a child of a previous dark queen in the series because it showed us what changes happened in her realm since her own love story. The story was interesting and I am invested enough in it that I am going to buy some books from the Kingdom Series soon. Suitable audience: Adults who like fantasy and romance. Not suitable for teens and children Recurrent themes: Magic. Soulmates. Fairytales. Love. Loyalty. Mythology. Witchcraft. Redemption. Note: If you’re looking for an intense reading experience, this is not it. If, however, you’re looking for a quick, fun read with no major thinking involved, this series fits the bill especially if you’re into fantasy and romance with a touch of mythology. Violence: Mention of violence against children and animals. The battles are quite violent Sexual Content: A lot!!! This is definitely a book for adults only! Profanity: Multiple uses of sexual euphemisms as well as obscene language Religious Themes: The book starts Greek gods and goddesses. There is also mention of gods from other cultures as well as nature spirits. Magic and witches are also very present in this series. Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: None
Galetta the Blue........ Beautiful? Yes, devastatingly so!
Benevolent? Oh. Hell. No! Try vicious, cruel, wicked, malevolent terrifying and despised by all. She has single handedly been responsible for the failure of almost all failed relationships on Kingdom, and has killed more people on a whim than even she remembers. So the question is how such a wicked creature even deserves to have her story told? Her creator knows of her trials.
Enter Syrith, son of Zelena Hermosa, the Queen of Hearts and Ragoth the Dragon shifter, now the King of Wonderland. Although conceived in love, it happened in the madness that was Wonderland and he was born half Dragonborne, but his true form is a thing of nightmares....part corporeal and part phantom. Able to shift into any creature he imagines, a tragedy has left him a broken man.
This is a story of terror and hate, fear, intimidation, and gruesome horror. It is also a story of unconditional sacrifice, remorse, redemption and rebirth.
All the Kingdom books are able to be read as stand alone books including this one, It is however my recommendation that The Passionate Queen be read first as it deals with Syrith's parents story.
This is a pivotal book in the history of Kingdom and as such I award it 4 stars.
So, I have to take a moment and think about what I felt about this book. When I first read the Magic queen and the loe game played out I thought it was interesting how it all turned out. I did not know that each book after would be an account from another contenders point of view, so right now as I read each book I am finding myself in a slightly warped mirror. So in this book we are in the love games on the side of the blue fairy. In the other books everything is cut and dry as to what is happening and what is expected and eventually what happens. In this book however, there is a much deeper reasoning and meaning behind the selection of players. And we find that, inspite of previous thoughts that Fable is the key player, that in fact it is the blue fairy who is the real reason behind all of this and Aphrodite and Calypso were just pawns to bring about the inevitable. I enjoyed the salvation and choice of destiny/sacrifice that is depicted in this book. This book shows us how life is a bunch of choices between light and dark or good and evil and what happens when we choose. This book, for me, is a testament to the love of God and how, even when we believe that He has turned his back and is ignoring our suffering, He is just waiting for the moment to step in and save us. We never know why things happen the way they do, maybe we made a sacrifice in the beginning, one made out of love and the desire to save others, that we just don’t know and our lives are a result of this choice and soon our selfless sacrifice will be rewarded with relief and love. I am curious though, to see how the brief release of the dark magic and the unraveling of time and events will be fixed in the remaining books.
Nooooo, This cliffhanger where everything has been undone will be the death of me! In all honesty I wasn't a huge fan of Blue's story here. We've had 2 books in a row we're the females are needing to be saved from the same things by their males. Also, the mystic beginning while doesn't contradict the other stories it also feels like an after thought to me... I feel like it would have been better if we had been building towards this plot from the beginning of the series laying a foundation so to speak. The love games stories since they are happening all simultaneously feel out of order to me, or maybe the author is just trying so hard to prevent spoilers that its throwing them all off a tad. Anyways, I didn't care for this near as much as book 5, and now I don't even know if I have it in me to keep going....
This book was okay for me. I liked the story between Galeta and Syrth just fine what I disliked was the ending. Most stories are erased which okay I understand that the author really wanted to re-write Hatters story but ugh. I've already dealt with another cookie cutter book and although I love the world that she's spun it makes me less than excited to read upcoming books.
But I digress...The book was okay, personally I'm tired of like half the books being another persons POV that doesn't have anything to do with the couple and I tend to speed read those parts. I feel like I'm at 52% completion before we get any meat of the story and they didn't used to be like that. I did like Galeta's transformation and I'm a sucker for dragons all the times.

Feeling slightly ripped off by the ending. The actual book was amazing. It had enough back story to make me willing to believe in the Blue and kept me at rapt attention throughout. Wasn't sure I could connect to her considering everything she'd done throughout the series, but by the end it was almost like she was someone entirely new.
This fairy tale is so different than any I've ever read. The darkness reveals why Galeta the Blue wields evil magic with no regard to outcomes. The games the Goddesses play may release her but at what cost? Her world is turned upside down once she gets her happily ever after, can she live with herself or will the changes cause her to return to the darkness? Read on to find out!
I have only read the bad 5 series, and was going on to read the Mad King when it suggested this book in order for it to make sense. Now I see why. I also think I may end up reading the rest of the Kingdom series along with the rest of the Dark Queens... Not head over heels in love with this author when she writes through her female characters, but I love her males.
great story that leaves you dying for the next book. inventive reimagining of characters throughout the dark queen series makes for a fun read, but this one in particular is exceptional. I cant wait for the next one!
It's a little slow moving at 1st but once you get into it, it's a great book. Omg! What a twist at the end, can't wait to see how the series continues on form here!
Jovee has done it again. This was a wonderful read. Fans of her books will not be disappointed. The Blue was hated by all but in a story full of twist and turns readers will come to love her and cheer her on towards her own happily ever after.
My hope is restored! I was so afraid that this book would be almost the same as the one before. But there was so much in this one, and I was intrigue by the story of Galeta and what would be going on through the story. Now I can't wait to get started on the next one.
The idea that the fairy was bad by being selfless was nice, haven’t read the other books so I don’t hate her , this book makes me want to read more so 2 stars.
Totally deserving of 5 stars! A heartwrenching tale of a being who chose to take on the burden of evil, and the love that saved not only her, but another who was falling into darkness.
