A clear, well-written textbook that gives a useful (necessarily broad-strokes) overview of the field of biology, definitely a good springboard for further study within the life sciences. I'll need to work through it a second (and third?) time to really get the most out of it, but that's just a function of how much information it contains.

its pretty good introduction. it is geared towards students enrolled in a legitimate class with tests etc, so it was a bit too into the weeds (latinate terminology i didnt need) instead of just a general overview for diletantes like me.

I enjoyed this a lot. A clear and simplified explanation of the many fundamentals of biology. Helps a lot if you’re taking an introductory course with the tests within the book as well. It’s quite a big read if you go cover to cover but it’s very interesting if you’re just getting into the study of life.
