Refined and unrefined carbohydrates as in complex and simple carbohydrates are almost the same; the sugar in an apple is STILL sugar. The difference between a simple and complex carb is in how quickly it is digested and absorbed - as well as it's chemical structure. Majority of vegetables are very high in 'natural' sugars and for someone truly wanting to 'detox' are NOT to be eaten until well into where a body has detoxed and then in moderation depending on what type it is. The 'diet' suggestions would put me in to hypoglycemia after a sugar rush before put me in to migraine.
