This book is an excellent tool that allows the writer to see the options available during self-publishing. Alexis Aronis provides many examples of books that are various sizes and formats. It is such an exceptional book.

I am keeping it for when I publish my next book. It will make my decisions easier during the formatting process.

There are examples of how to choose the best format when working with other authors in an anthology or a colleague books. No matter what type of book the author is printing, there is a template and instructional page to assist.

The book was full of great information. While I haven't yet finished my own book I've been exploring publishing and I will definitely refer back to this when I get there. I found the actual writing style a bit difficult to read and it took quite a few attempts to get through the book. Maybe I was just overwhelmed by all the info in the book.

If there was a beginner’s guide to self-publishing that held your hand through the step-by-step process of CreateSpace and Word programs, then this is it. Is that a bad thing? No, not at all. This is a good book for the person who is somewhere between stuck with a completed manuscript and no idea where to go from there. I recommend having a basic understanding of those programs before reading the book, as most, if not all, of the examples and step-by-step instructions given are strictly for those programs. If you don’t understand them, then you might get a basic run through by the time you get to the end of the book and the majority of the examples might go over your head.
If you don’t use those programs at all, then this book might not be as useful. If anything at all, you’d walk away having an idea of the next step that you need to take and what you need to keep in mind as you move along with your book publishing adventure.
For me, personally, I found some of the information to be useful, and some of it to be nice to keep in mind for if I ever wanted to publish anything I wrote. Since I am one of those people that doesn’t know anything about or have used CreateSpace, that information didn’t really sink in. I felt like I had a basic understanding of the CreateSpace process by the end of the book, though. I felt the crosswords at the end of each chapter to be a bit silly and redundant when the chapter summary directly follows it. I understand the point of it, just felt it was excessive. Overall, it had some helpful information.

The concept for this book was very unique and useful for anyone looking to self-publish a manuscript. It brought up points I had never considered, including the best trim sizes and interior designs for a book. Aronis covered the information in a detailed and comprehensive manner. However, I found the formatting of the book a little off-putting for my tastes. There were so many prologues, table of contents, overviews and more to each chapter that reaching the actual content began to feel tedious. In some cases the information was displayed more like a scientific study than a guide, and this made it a bit dry to read.

"Make Your Book" is an extremely detailed explanation of how to work with Create Space to make your book. I have used Create Space in the past and always dreamed to have all the details about trimming, format and style in one file. This book is basically a consumer's manual. This will prove very useful for self-publishing authors. And last, but not least, this wokbook is very visual and easy to follow.

I found this book to be a bit wordy and repetitious with a lot of unnecessary content. It could have been much shorter while still including some of the valuable information which is hidden amongst all the other fluff. The bit about mobile-friendly trim sizes was interesting and the images were useful. As an author, I also found the section that covers tips for formatting your book in MS Word quite helpful. And there are some good links and free tools at the back of the book.
