More military stories collected by the master David Drake, military sci-fi/horror stories ranging in local from Vietnam to Drakes own universe of Hammer's Slammers (The Tank Lords).
David Drake is an American author of science fiction and fantasy literature. A Vietnam War veteran who has worked as a lawyer, he is now one of the major authors of the military science fiction genre.
If you like war fiction, and just looking for something of interest for stories, this is very readable. I like David’s style of writing and found this book interesting as he shared his background on the stories.
A book of largely uninspired short stories. There were a couple of decent ones, but some really sucked, notably "The Dancer in the Flames." I stopped reading about halfway through the book. Just don't care enough to continue.
A grim little collection, which is pretty much what I expected when I picked it up. I found some of the stories a bit unengaging, but not bad, and others--"Rescue Mission", "Contact!", "The Way We Die"--pretty gripping.
Solid MilSF fic rec, I guess, and I may reread a couple.
