Raven and Liam’s relationship has always been complicated. From a scarred childhood through the rough teenage years, the duo has gone through more punches than a pair should ever face, and yet they have still come out standing… though not always standing together. Now, after recent pains and sorrows have graced their strained relationship, they are trying to piece it back together, even if it is just as friends. Still deeply in love with him and pregnant with their second child, Raven wants to make things work with Liam, yet their shared past places roadblocks against trust. For his part, Liam is trying to step away from his colossal family, the Delacroix, striking out on his own in a world that can only see his name and all it represents. Neither is being fully honest. Then a dangerous figure from Raven’s past comes knocking, threatening everything both hold dear… including their lives.
CRAVE is a full length novel complete at over 75,000 words, but may stop at 85% into the story as it includes a sample of VINDICTIVE Deceptive Desires Finale which will launch on 10/10
USA TODAY Bestselling Author Amarie Avant focuses on writing romantic suspense, contemporary romance, dark romance with the occasional redeemable anti-hero.
This series is exhausting. Also, where is the love story? I'll finish up the series just to complete the tale but I'm frustrated by all the chararcters thus my entertainment level is severely dimished by that fact.
I appreciate dark romantic suspense but I don't know anymore if anyone in this series is worth rooting for because everyone behaves either stupidly, selfishly, or immaturely repeatedly. So much seems constantly contrived cause folks won't sit down and have a simple conversation, instead they hide and lie ... and when that's ALL there is, why should anyone care? Depravity for the sake of drama is good for a twist or two but shouldn't be core characteristic of all the characters.
Where's the heart in the series when the core love story of Raven & Liam is so much less about the two people readers are supposed to root for? The author isn't showing us that love story wirth rooting for and is instead focused more on everyone else's sick manipulations.
I've read other books by this author and I usually enjoy her work but this series doesn't seem like it's about a love story at the heart of it, and for romance novels, that's a serious misstep. This book in particular seemed to be about everyone else's dramas and manipulations while the once strong, stubborn heroine is behaving foolishly and weakly and the hero is almost without a voice.
If you've been reading the Deceptive Desires series starting with Covet, you won't want to miss Crave. Liam and Raven are back and they are still fighting to keep their family together. With more enemies than friends, and twists and turns on their road to happiness, these two can 't seem to catch a break. Liam and Raven seem to always have to be in defensive mode which causes them to second guess and question their commitment to each other, but true love always wins right? Make sure you get your copy of Crave to find out. I give this one 4 stars!
This was interesting but sometimes annoying that I had to read so much mundane things. I’m on to the other book because I want to know what happened to Raven.. I disliked Tyriq from the beginning with his obsessive behaviors, I put some of the blame on Raven for him being that way towards her because I honestly think she should have stayed aways from him and trust in the love her man has for her. Royael is being bratty of course and it’s somewhat heartbreaking. Everyone was showing so much attention to Noah because of his early birth and forgetting about the emotions of Royael expecting her to understand when the truth is children aren’t expected to be understanding and not jealous. All in all this was a good book minus certain parts and I’m on to the finale to see how things end
This is my review and how I see it. In CRAVE Deceptive Desires 2 (Romantic Suspense) author Amarie Avant, continues the story of Raven and Liam. We pick-up sometime after Christmas with Liam and Raven enjoying time with each other. Raven and Liam made me so mad with them. They did not learn from book one about keeping secrets from each other.
Liam/Raven/Tyriq - this triangle is a disaster waiting to happen. Raven unintentionally reached out to Tyriq for his help with her blackmailers. Raven is taking money from Liam to pay off a blackmailer instead of telling Liam the truth about what she did. She put not only herself, but her baby in harms way. Tyriq has a hidden agenda when it comes to Raven, he wants her and in his twisted mind he believes that he loves her. Liam loves Raven, but is keeping secrets that he is traveling on business for the family hotel chain. It seems that Liam and Raven keep lying to protect each other when the truth will work better. Now Raven has to keep Tyriq at arms length. She should have done more than slap him the first time he kissed her. What is that crazy Tyriq up to at the end. Where is Raven, I hope he does not have her and if he does I hope she doesn't stay with him.
Charlene/Damien- Raven's parents are too much in this story. In this story we see more into the lives of these two. It comes out that Charlene cheated on Damien before they were married giving Damien a good cover to keep Charlene and Trinity save from what he has gotten himself into with Debbie. It is not good once they tell Raven about the divorce.
Royale - That child. Wow is all I can say. So Raven has noticed the way that Royale looks at Noah. The author gave us some insight into what this child was thinking even thought the malevolent thought were toward her brother. We got to glimpse inside her thoughts of what she has been feeling since the birth of her brother. I few times I thought she was going to carry the thoughts out. I am just glad she didn't.
I was more than confused at why Raven kept reaching out to Tyriq and even inquiring about him especially after he more than showed interested in her. Was it more like curiosity killing the cat, in this cast satisfaction was not going to bring that cat back. Raven and Liam, mostly Raven made me so mad with her throughout this book. I had to walk away, several times.
This book is for anyone who likes a good thriller that will have you questioning what is the heroine, hero, or villain going to do next. This book has you try to guess who is the real villain here.
This one has irked me... This should be a scream wright for a stupid soap opera series. I was hoping for more depth in this series. The first book was good as was the second. However, this one really, really got really sappy... Which, made book one and two less relevant. If I had to recommend this series ah this point, I would say "NO!" No way should anyone's time be wasted here when you could just find into the weekly "Dope Opera's." I will read the finale, (thank God there's only one left) just because of my compulsive disorder. However, I will read all reviews before I read again from this author.
Okay, where should I start? This series could have easily been 2 books, instead of a neverending series. Don't get me wrong, the characters are evolving but not all are going in a positive way. I am trying to like Raven and Royael but they are too sneaky for my taste. Liam and Damien have the potential to be great men, but yet again they keep secrets that hurt rather than help them. Ugh! The author decision to spread out this story into a series kept me from giving 5 stars.
Wow I am loving these series, I don't know where to begin without telling the story. So for now all I am going to say is damn and can't wait for the conclusion because this ride got me pulling out my hair. Ty is one crazy dude.
I've been trying for weeks to get through this book. It just has no flow. It's like a different person wrote this one than book 1. I gave it a fair shot by reading 60% of the book, but it's time to throw in the towel.
Honestly, this book was more about Raven, as we head into Vindictive, it seems like there will be more of just her. I wanted more of Liam, because honestly, some of Raven's choices were just too much. The ambivalence went on way too long, as well as the same lack of communication seen in the previous book. I gave the 4 stars, because I love them as a couple and the suspense was good throughout the book. Royael is growing into a huge brat, but I guess when your mom is in her head so much, it leaves less time to parent. I'm glad Liam was stepping up at the end, but Raven seeing Tyriq again, I see in the clip of Vindictive was a moot request asked of Liam. I need Liam to step up some more. I'm still loving the sex scenes and the suspense is awesome as well. I'm looking forward to Vindictive. Honestly, this is my second time reading the series, but I forgot to write a review, so I'm reviewing as if it's my first time. I highly suggest the series, it's good overall.
Shut. Up…that’s IT?! It ends like THAT?! What in the hey-well am I supposed to do with that MASSOVE humdinger of a cliffy? Each book is progressively better than the last which is VERY hard to do IMO. This new to me author, Amarie Avant, is doing it flawlessly. You can see her writing strengths growing right along with it. This book was everything. As soon as you receive an answer for one thing, another question pops up. I won’t give anything away as I want you to experience it just like I did but wow. I’m so glad it’s a Friday night and I don’t have to work tomorrow because I am going to gobble up the next book. Like right now. All in all, I’m hooked and will officially be adding this series to my physically purchased collection. High praise from me!
This book has eaten away most of my brain cells, even thou I flipped through a lot of pages, the pain of completing to read was too much!!!! I can't believe that I read in the last pages this author has an editor!!!! WTF!!!
I just left feeling this series ty scares me what he will next but he’s hot and I’m not sure what to think of Liam I want to like but I think he is still hiding stuff
Oh my, I sure enjoyed this one ... You sure know how to tie all the plots and twists of all the characters together.. All in all that was really great read... Can't wait for the finally!
I am team Raven and Liam all the way and love them as a couple. Circumstances and people are determined to keep them apart. I have to say that I did not enjoy this book a much as the first two. It was low moving and dragged in some points. I kept wishing that things would speed up. There was plenty of suspense, action, sex, lies, and secrets. It was interesting learning more hidden secrets about Liam's family. Raven did annoy me with her keeping things from Liam and carrying on with Ty. It made her seem naïve and a little pathetic. Liam was also wrong for keeping things from Raven. I really could not stand Ty he was an obsessed, delusional fool who constantly tried to get Raven to leave Liam. I really hope he gets handled. Looking forward to the next book. What other secrets will come to light?
This books sees Raven and Liam in situations that have them not truly being honest with each other. Raven is forced to deal with her situation with an unlikely person who seems to drop in out of know where or do they. Liam's situation is forced upon him and seems to be controlled by Pierre again without his knowledge, but it looks like Liam may out maneuver him yet. Little Royael seems to be having a hard time adjusting to all the changes but there seems to be more to it. There are so many intriguing things and people operating in the background, its exciting to see how it unfolds. With all that is happening and changing with Raven and Liam's life will they survive the change or the revelations headed their way. This is a highly recommended read, you won't be disappointed!!!
Almost there....I wishing we would get to it already.
I am delighted we got answers to the blackmailer. Who knew a minor character Gabriella the friend from high school Liam asked to do the DNA check would be made out to be a jilted (in her mind) demented sicko. I must say I am gettin tired of the two leads keeping secrets.. They should have come clean in the beginning of this book, before the proposals. The Pastor is so right their marriage should not start off unholy. Now, can we talk about the mini diva Royael? She needs more that that little smack from her momma. Looking forward to all this wrapping up in the finale.
This story takes us so much deeper into lives of the families we ha e come to love and despise. The writer pulls us into a mystery that reads like a Sherlock Holmes novel. There are so many levels of emotions and mystery that you have to pay attention so you don't miss a thing. The passion between Liam and Raven is so hot you want to be in there sun.I love there are different dynamics and relationships. This was an explosive follow-up to what's shaping up to be a heck of a series.
Crave was everything that I imagined it was going to be. Once again Amarie Avant slayed with her writing skills. Liam and Raven always seem to have obstacles in their way. I'm waiting for Ty to get his just desserts. He worked my last nerve and then some. I hope in the next book Liam and Raven get their act together and be honest and trust each other, so that they'll finally get their happily ever after.
Honestly I skipped through most of the unnecessary drama of almost every other character in this book. It was kinda a mess. Where is the original love story of Raven and Liam? These two were so busy hiding and making up senseless lies it got boring. I felt like their previous loving relationship that I was rooting for, now wasn't even remotely interesting. And the whole Tyrique thing where he's freakishly obsessed with Raven is a little weird.
OMG… I don't know who's craving the most… Liam, Raven or Tyriq. Throw has issues beyond anyones control even his mothers. There is so much that Raven doesn't know about the Tate family. But once she finds out will it be to late?
As soon as I post this review, I will be starting the finale. Will love keep them together or will lies tear them apart? I can't wait to find out.
Great read..Saga does continue..People are still determined to keep Liam and Raven apart. Tyriq is obsessed with Raven, He goes to unlimited ends to steal her from Liam. Royale is developing some really bad habits for alittle girl. Liam's mom Elise makes her evil face seen in Italy. Mama Annette develops a love interest. Charlene and Damien are on the rocks and Miquel is up to no good..The wedding of the two lovers may be up in the air... I am hooked on this series...Great read
There is way to much unnecessary drama (to me) with Raven. All the back and forth is just to crazy. And goes Royale is way over the top for a 6 year old. Does this mean she has crazy tendencies as her mother and grand father? I'm hoping the finale clears up a lot of this total craziness
The suspense is killing me. I hate cliff hangers. Every time I think a problem has been solved, another one crops up. All these secrets. Everyone has secrets, so many unresolved secrets. Amarie kept my attention throughout this book. It was very good. Raven is so busy trying to keep her secrets, she's is totally unaware of the danger she's in. I can't wait until all of these secrets are revealed.
What happened to Raven? Did Tyrique take her, or was it the big scary man with the scarred face? What is Liam's deep dark secret that Tyrique wants to tell Raven? I'm starting "Vindictive" right now!!!!
Omg. Tariq is something serious!! I spent the whole day reading the whole day bc of hurricane matthew, but i aint complainin. That vindictive cover is all that!!!
Amarie has us on the edge of our seats. Raven should just tell Liam already. Stop trusting that evil Ty. Now there are strange men roaming. I think he...... Vindictive here I come.
