A collection of speeches, quotes, short essays and sayings, this collection has such contents related to love, mindfulness, compassion, happiness, spirituality, religion, Buddhism, humanity, making a difference, community peace, wisdom, disagreements, emotions and health, mind and insight.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the contents, have a few favourite parts and also, some parts which didn't quite click.

A collectible I would say. The kind of book you just open randomly and enjoy a few lines here and there to relax.

But I would also say this is the kind of collection you would want to seek out when you are having a rough day.

One of the best advice I got from this book:

"Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it."

Mostly simple enough to get through, with no fluff/frills. Some concepts are a bit abstract, but there is no pretentiousness behind the Dalai Lama's delivery of them. There's some good advice in here that will let you reflect on your actions. There's also a lot of it that may seem commonsensical and that you may feel you already know. But as he says, "If anything I've said seems useful to you, I'm glad. If not, don't worry. Just forget about it."

This book is filled with priceless gems of wisdom, thoughtfulness, and pure practicalities. It's wonderfully arranged by topics, then given as short quotes on the topic. Easily digestible in short bursts or as read for longer periods. I'll be rereading it often.

The Dalai Lama is an amazing person. He's someone who doesn't get enough love because he isn't flashy. The world will be a lesser place when he passes.

There are certainly some gems in here. It was a fast and easy read that I really enjoyed. It's short enough that you can stop and think about the wisdom in here and how they relate to your life.

Also, fun note, I listened to this through Speechify and so I had Snoop Dogg reading it to me.

How does one rate the sayings of The Dalai Lama? This slim collection of quotes, organized under various headings, allows for dipping in and out, depending on what one needs.

Here's a wisdom for March 2022: "Genuine peace between nations will come from mutual respect, not from weapons or force."
