The day had begun like any other. Another successful mission with Guardian Cormell. Aden Fendrie was one step closer to knighthood. And then…

Goblins. People thought they were mere legend, whispered about in only the darkest corners. Shape-shifters that could appear as anyone. But the rumors were true. Nothing could have prep

There’s a brief prologue that follows Aden and his mentor Cormell as they head towards the scene of a massacre. There are bodies everywhere and at first, there didn’t appear to be any survivors from the caravan. As they were poking through the remains to see if they could find clues as to what happened, a man rises from the pile of bodies. He had been hiding in the pile mimicking a corpse, Cormell calls him out as a goblin and the man shifts into a green-skinned, red-eyed and black clawed monste ...more

General view: I kind of have a problem with this book. It was pretty good. I really enjoyed it. The world seems awesome. And oh god I so can see Adam and - I'm not going to say his name - as a couple and I'm all for gay characters. However, I was not exactly confused but quite confused. The first plot ended up so soon I was totally "wait what". I felt like

I enjoyed reading this book but it felt more like a series of short stories strung together. When I got to the first climax it felt like I was coming to the end of the book. The world that J.A Alexsoo has developed is interesting and I would like to know more about its history. The main characters are fairly well developed and interesting, particularly Aden. There were a couple of minor grammar/word errors but that could have simply been the kindle edition.

Fairly good story for a first novel.
I want to thank the author for providing me with an e-copy of this book in exchanged for an honest review.

In this story we follow various characters, all of who belong to a special order of knights dedicated to the protection of the whole world. But the main character of the story is Aden, a young knight-in-training.

I found the story entertaining and a fast read. Aden could be a bit annoying at times, but overall he was a nice character I could sympathise with.

I would have wished for more worl

An intriguing fantasy with knights, orcs and goblins. Personally fell in Frafnar's magnetic lure. A well paced read with clever twists. Can't wait for book two!
