Frances Ridley Havergal was an English religious poet and hymnwriter. "Take My Life and Let it Be" and "Thy Life for Me" (also known as "I Gave My Life for Thee") are two of her best known hymns. She also wrote hymn melodies, religious tracts, and works for children. She did not occupy, and did not claim for herself, a prominent place as a poet, but by her distinct individuality, she carved out a niche which she alone could fill.
I read this book to my kids as a devotional. Generally I found it to be good and helpful, and there were few things that I disagreed with. The one recurring thing that could be an issue is that she tends to treat the children readers as if they are believers. While that may be true for some, it is certainly not true for all. So parents may want to add some commentary depending on their children's situation.
The sections were also a little short for my liking.
A very sweet book written to children to give them comforting thoughts of God to go to bed with and inspiring ones to wake up to. We started with reading Little Pillows at bed time (for the 10 and under crowd), and my kids still sometimes request that I read one at bedtime, especially if they are feeling fearful.
