I rather liked this 14th-century poem. It did have its tedious sections - notably the long histories of the nine worthies. But it was full of life in other parts (I particularly like the gnats in the forest of the Prologue), and it had a beautifully circular structure - in fact a real sense of structure overall, something which usually seems lamentably lacking in mediaeval stuff.
