BMO decided to create the best game in the world and make his best friends be the characters to help liven it up...only, his friends don’t know they’re inside a game!
SOMETHING ISN’T RIGHT HERE . . . Finn and Jake wake up in a world that is not quite the way they remember it--more snakes, that’s for sure--and it looks like they’re stuck here. But where is here exactly? With the help of some fellow friends, Finn and Jake soon discover that they’re inside BMO and it looks like BMO is determined to give them the best game of their lives whether they want it or not.
Written by Christopher Hastings (Gwenpool) and illustrated by Ian McGinty (Welcome to Showside), return to the land of Ooo with all new adventures in the bestselling series Adventure Time Volume 12. Collects issues #55-59.
I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream with BMO as the AI demiurge. The hospital drama realm in which all of the medics and patients are Lemongrab is especially compelling/horrific.
As always, a cute little ride through the fantasy land of Ooo. In this one, Finn and Jake's computer, BMO, has been taken over by an evil ooze with the desire to create, and so everyone is stuck in their own personal nightmare of a video game. I always enjoy these. :)
So this book was a pretty decent adventure collecting a single story told across multiple issues. And I do love me a good BMO adventure - what more a BMO + NEPTR adventure that turns all of Ooo on its head? Yes, it's that sort of a crazy story and on the whole a lot of fun. It's not an award-winning story but it's a solid one and one that stands out a bit more versus the previous volumes in the post-North era for Adventure Time comics.
BMO, never my favorite character, creates what he thinks are Finn's favorite worlds, all crammed full of adventures. Cute at first with the Wild West story, but the whole thing goes on too long. I'm always glad to see Marceline, and Lemongrab was a fun and creepy surprise.
A fun volume that took the sting out of having watched the very last episode of Adventure Time ever. This one definitely reads like an episode. Very enjoyable.
