This book is set in Victorian times in India. At the beginning we meet a young doctor, who is traveling back home after meeting with family. In pops a young British woman, which is something he isn’t used to seeing every day. This is whenever his life starts to get more interesting. The more he hangs out with her, the more extraordinary and crazy things happen. Everything from a crazy brother-in-law to a murder plot is afoot in this story. I liked the way this book was written as the words were ...more

There are various perpetrators that could be the cause of the murder and Sardar makes ...more

This book reimagines the classic series of Holmes and Watson into the early 20th Century as two unlikely characters. Especially for that time, that Holmes is represented as a white British woman and Watson (or in this story Dr. Watan) an Indian man is a pretty daring, albeit fun concept. The author is able to take our unlikely duo and bring along enough suspense, action, humor and mystery that we do not even see the differences. The nuances of the two main characters are able to enrich the story ...more

Humorous and witty, with lots of twists and turns. Dr. Watan, a Hindu physician, travels with an Englishwoman who may be nothing but trouble for him in colonial India. #IAN1
