Another great
It was good, and my son liked that it took place in outer space. It was also easy for him to read.

Read for my 2 year old’s bedtime. Pete is going to a space camp. From there he met some friends and experienced space simulation by floating in zero gravity chamber and driving a rover. Then he got to experience the real thing, blasted off in the rocket and landed on the moon.

Pete the Cat books are some of our favorites in the house, and this one definitely didn't disappoint. Finn really loved looking at some of the planets, and learning about the rover.

Cute premise, but holy cow does Mr. Dean need to rein in the imagination regarding the possibility of space travel. Our son is a space geek and letting him think that he could just go from the moon to Mars and back within an hour or so WITHOUT A SPACE VEHICLE, JUST WEARING A SUIT goes beyond imagination and into ridiculous. Still, we love the lessons in these books.

Recently I read nine (yep 9) Pete the Cat books. These books are perfect for grands amd great-grands to read to young children. The underlying value system seems to be of some cool cats of 1960s-70s.
This book shows Pete and his friends learning, working, amd playing together as astronauts.

Cute picture book, filled the November mini challenge prompt “intergalactic” a little more interstellar than galactic but it’s related to space so I’m counting it.

As always, Pete the Cat is his usual endearing self with a mind for mischief in this caper. The illustrations are ingenious with child-like but perfectly detailed rainbow sketches with dark pencil outlines of spacecraft, astronauts, and outer space. This picturebook is unlike some of Dean’s other books in this series in that it is more story-driven with a prose-influenced structure as opposed to the poetic, singable quality that is usually common in the Pete the Cat books. This book is also great about introducing children to space and the astronaut program, albeit with an unrealistic depiction of a space camp experience. Pete the Cat: Out of This World would be a great addition to a read aloud storytime program for 5-7 year-olds about space since it utilizes a character children are already familiar with and pays homage to other books in the Pete the Cat series. Many of the words in this book are well-beyond most sight words that children can read at this age with multiple terms and compound words, so this book works better as a read aloud rather than as an early reader.

Silly but better than the first one I read, Pete the Cat and the Missing Cupcakes. This one has no lesson to be learned. I may stop reading these. lol.

Pete Abramovich Sternfeld the original catmonaut 🫡🐈 paved the way for our great Félicette. Rest in meower.
Kitten (4yo) loves this one. I like the original Pete the Cat better for its rhythmic patterns but this one has rockets 🚀

Ok book
No rhymes in this story. No good underlying messages for readers like with other Pete the Cat books. Rather boring story overall.

Pete the Cat is going to Space Camp!
Pete meets his bunk mate, Glenn; their mission starts almost as soon as they arrive. Astronauts talk to them about the trips they’ve taken and give them a sneak peek at some flights planned for the future.
The campers discover what it’s like in space. They go into the zero gravity chamber; they ride in rovers; they build and fly rockets.
In Mission Control, the campers discover a flight is leaving today . . . .
Will Pete get to go to the moon? And what will happen on his space flight?
=========
Young readers will instantly recognize the beloved Pete; delightful illustrations accompany Pete’s space camp antics. Young readers are certain to have fun blasting off with Pete [even if the space exploration isn’t particularly realistic] and learning some basic facts about astronauts and space exploration.
Young readers ages four through eight, preschool through third grade are the targeted audience for this science-based tale. This book works well as a read-aloud story or a shared bedtime tale since several words are likely to be unfamiliar to young readers but older readers may be successful reading independently.
And there are stickers, too!
Highly recommended, especially for fans of Pete the Cat.

A Wonderful Blast (Off) From the Past!
Pete the Cat is such a charming, little guy who seems to come straight from the past in the most delightful and fun way! The narrative style and simplistic art evoke a sense of nostalgia for the books I grew up with: hand-me-downs originally published in the 1960s and 1970s. Rock on, Pete. Rock on!
This story is quick and fun, following Pete and his other feline pals as they train for, go on, and return from a space mission. There are moments of conflict, such as needing to get back to a rocket in time to go home, but they are over quickly enough to be appropriate for young kids. Turn the page, find out Pete is safe.
This book was fun and I recomend it for any youngster interested in cats, space, or both!

"Pete the Cat: Out of This World," by James Dean is a science fiction book for children three to eight-years-old. Travel with Pete the Cat through space, follow as he builds rockets, and experiences life with no gravity! The ploy of this book, outer space, is so interesting to children. Using Pete the Cat as the main character is so interesting to children. This book series is a must have for young readers. The pictures are very easy to the eyes and colorful. This book does a great job of portraying the theme of teaching children about the wonders of space. I would use this book in my classroom to introduce the content area of space.

I read this to my 4 yr old granddaughter’s group. The children were introduced to space adventure, and the fantasies that followed in the story were embraced by all.
Precious and fun, full of friends, bright colors, and great illustrations of space exploration machines, and Equipment. On the last page, there’s a photo of a child in a space camp apparatus, and most of the children wanted to talk about how they could go to space camp like Pete, the cat.
The children knew what a comet was, and the Rover, and were a little skeptical about the space hike. All in all it was a fun 10 minute read, and they loved the stickers.

November 2, 2017Pete the cat goes to space camp! He meets all sorts of new friends and sees new things, and then at the end, he gets to go on a rocket ship and fly to the moon.
Activity: Have this book be an introduction to space and have kids do activities like a moon dig (a box covered with clear plastic wrap, holes in the side with gloves in them; children stick hands in gloves and use tools inside like magnifying glasses and tweezers to explore objects).

This is a simple story, but still more of a story than some of the learning to read series books. Against all reasoning, Pete gets to go on an actual space mission to the moon, even bringing his guitar along, despite only being in a summer camp for all intents and purposes. Rather unrealistic, but we're talking about a "groovy" fictional cat here. I guess it's cute, especially if you have a little one that enjoys space travel.

If you have a child interested in space or space camp, this might be a good book for them. Pete goes to space camp and to space and back all in the same day. For some kids, it might set an unrealistic expectation. My 2nd grader knows more about space travel and was disinterested in this story. My preschooler, however, though it was fun but not enough to read it again like some of our other Pete the Cat books.

January 13, 2024My kids loved this, but c'mon.. Pete flew off the moon, floated to mars, and then floated back to the moon. It's trivial, I know, but at a time where my kids are learning the difference between gravity on earth vs the moon and why spacesuits are needed, I would have preferred that the book stuck with the moon.. or mars.. or floating in space.. I'm sure this truly doesn't matter, but I'm giving the side-eye anyways.

Blast Off To The Moon
Pete The Cat was going on an adventure to Space Camp. His Bunk mate was Glenn. They did many things including playing with gravity. The Astronauts Tom and Kris were there. They were going into space in the next few day. Will Pete get to go? What will he do?

Rocket n roll
Awesome topic to inspire the offspring! Thank you for Pete the cat! Seriously hoping for more adventures with Pete! Especially if possible to add more story lines, for the five minute story turning into a 15 minute story this way the eye lids get heavy and the minion drifts off to sleep

Inaccurate but enjoyable enough
The story is nice enough for small children, but as an aerospace engineer the inaccuracies really bother me. I get past the inaccuracies by trying to convince myself that this is told by a 5 year old to their parents about their cat. But it still bugs me.

This is basically the same as my review for the Firefighter one. I know Pete is awesome, but this is just getting silly. Pete goes to space camp and gets the chance to go into space and actually go on a space walk, etc. Just no. Even my son was confused, since Pete is supposed to be a kid.

My son loves Pete the cat! In this book Pete travels to outer space. Kids learn some of the cool things astronauts do while they’re up there. It’s a fairly quick read that your child is sure to enjoy!
